What are you doing now and humorous banter.

Seems to be a day for waiting in for deliveries......two arrived so far....one to go.....

What book are you reading?

Yes I say it like ‘gone’

‘Cone’ is for posh folk
Au contraire, Blackadder. I'm pretty sure that real poshos pronounce it the same way that you do. Anyway, this is mere semantics: What really matters is which do you put on the scone first: cream or jam?

Jam with cream on top

Nice to have the sun in North Cumbria this pm Cumberland but quite cool. We had a frost this morning.
It always feels much better as well when it's raining down south.
Derek

My late mother's family were from Devon, so I'm strictly a "cream first" type, but if you must do it the wrong way round, who am I to stop you?

Pikelet mmm

It’s ages since I ate a scon (northern version) all this talk of scons and pikelets will have me rummaging for summat to scoff

When I was young, in the east midlands, pikelets were flat and had a lot of holes on the top side and I think brown on the bottom and sort of spongy.
We had a wire toasting fork and toasted them on an open coal fire over the glowing coals and covered them with our butter ration! Definately not the texture of bread, but probably no good for a low carb diet. All the fat was great! However my dear old mum used to complain when the fat ran off my chin onto the snip rug! Derek

QUOTE="dunelm, post: 1765754, member: 179219"]have always said scone with a flat middle vowel cos I is from Yorkshire, so scon - useless end vowel, I blame Pepys who couldn’t even sort the spelling of his own name.
Jam first cos it’s easier to cram on more cream.
Off now to have a pikelet [/QUOTE]

Still waiting for last delivery to arrive........bit worrying knowing what it is but have been told it is coming by specialist courier company....
