Morning all

Grey day here in the Midlands. And it's that cold I've put the heating back on. I had the duvet and my dressing gown last night in bed as hubby made a strange 'oooh' noise when I suggested we put the heating on. I think it has only gone on now as my daughter and her fiance are due for lunch and a chat. (Daughter feels the cold). So I'm not important enough - we shall see come teatime when he wants food and I tell him he's not important enough hee hee. (I will feed him dont worry, it's if his delicate mouth can take the heat of my curry)

Other than daughter coming I have no plans. I'm going to spend a couple of hours reading my book. (Now to book corner)

Have a good day all

What book are you reading?

Yes I say it like ‘gone’

‘Cone’ is for posh folk
Au contraire, Blackadder. I'm pretty sure that real poshos pronounce it the same way that you do. Anyway, this is mere semantics: What really matters is which do you put on the scone first: cream or jam? :D

Nice to have the sun in North Cumbria this pm Cumberland but quite cool. We had a frost this morning.
It always feels much better as well when it's raining down south. :)

have always said scone with a flat middle vowel cos I is from Yorkshire, so scon - useless end vowel, I blame Pepys who couldn’t even sort the spelling of his own name.
Jam first cos it’s easier to cram on more cream.
Off now to have a pikelet :)
My late mother's family were from Devon, so I'm strictly a "cream first" type, but if you must do it the wrong way round, who am I to stop you? :p:p:p:D:D:D

When I was young, in the east midlands, pikelets were flat and had a lot of holes on the top side and I think brown on the bottom and sort of spongy.
We had a wire toasting fork and toasted them on an open coal fire over the glowing coals and covered them with our butter ration! Definately not the texture of bread, but probably no good for a low carb diet. All the fat was great! However my dear old mum used to complain when the fat ran off my chin onto the snip rug!:);) Derek
