Michael Gove and his insane educational? policies!
I love eggs in all forms and bacon and kippers, mackerel or any fish but am getting a bit fed up of them now! Only other alternatives seem to be yoghurt and berrie or seeds! Help!

I'm even less use then.
2 ryvita, reduced fat cheese, and a slice of ham. Probably too carby for a very lc diet.
And I'm stuck in a rut with that,
I never used to eat breakfast, so I had to train myself to start eating it, now I actually get up to eat. Not that inspiring when written down though.

How's about some low carb pancakes, muffins or almond porridge for a change? The low carb recipe thread here is massive so you'll probably find some great inspiration there.;)

Nothing mostly but occasionally full fat Greek Yoghurt mixed with a few berries and flaxseed. Sometimes if I'm feeling really dangerous I'll have some toast and butter.

What about the left overs from the previous evenings meal......just a suggestion.

Workdays I have sardines and chicken/turkey stripes. On weekends I have soya flakes with soya milk with a sprinkling of cinnamon.

Do you make them from scratch? What do you eat with the pancakes? Used to eat mine with jam and whipped cream but not anymore:( . Will try thread. Have looked around and this is the only downside with the LCHF diet. That and the fact that I am unable to eat the rather yummy cake which is in the oven to supply cake for the kids' pack-ups for the week! Smells delicious and mouth is watering! Lol!

Hi! The pancake recipe I use is on another diabetes forum so I can't post the link sadly but they're easy to make and they're nice served with some Blueberries and cream-I've had them with smoked streaky bacon too but I know you're looking for an alternative to Bacon.;)

Carb free sausage (high meat content) with cheese and chives wrapped in a Chinese leaf.

I like to have a big breakfast as I am a chef and it might be 8 hours before I eat again, one of the hazards of the job which probably contributed to my getting diabetes in the first place. I've always loved oats for my breakfast as I'm a firm believer in its ability in keeping cholesterol low. However I always used to have it with liberal helpings of brown sugar, yum!! So now I've cut down on the amount I have, 20g but obviously some of that is insoluable fibre, I add extra oat bran for fibre, some sliced almonds, tsp of Truvia, some blackberries from the freezer and several good dollops of full fat Greek yogurt. Give it a stir and I'm good to go!! Seems to work for me, the rest of the day I'm only eating green veg and protein, so very low carb for the rest of the day. I can't garuantee that I'm totally ketogenic but I'm certain I'm quite close. I'm losing 2lb a week and my bloods are back to normal, so I'm happy! I will have a change on the weekend and have bacon, eggs, mushrooms and plum toms.

You say it's not that inspiring... but after reading you mention it somewhere that you had Ryvita for breakfast, I did the same the other day. Couple of sunflower seed ryvita, low fat philadelphia. Nicest brekkie for a while!

If i'm not havings eggs and bacon then its either full fat greek yoghurt with seeds, continental breakfasts, meats and cheese, or a handful of walnuts.

I never used to eat breakfast and I could still quite happily skip eating to lunchtimes, so its a bit of a struggle for me to eat anything really but my liver dumps if I dont.

If you have time - fry in butter a good handful of spinach, pop it in the bottom of a ramekin, drop an egg on top with a drop of cream grate on some cheddar or parmesan salt and pepper and maybe a grating of nutmeg. Place in the oven for 10/12 minutes. Eat, yum.
Edit: oven at 150

What's wrong with having some cream on things l have cream in my coffee...lower carbs than milk

Dawn l am telling my chef (husband) that it sounds yumm.. and as l am banned from the kitchen most of the time so l will be unable to make it...having said that even if not banned from the kitchen it wouldn't be good for me to burn the house down trying to make that :(

He just said yessss!

I wasn't a great breakfast eater (unless on holiday) until I was diagnosed with diabetes and ordered(!) to have breakfast. I generally used to east fruit, usually bananas, waffles or even a slice of plain cake. I' retired so I don't have to worry about (lack of) time any more which makes life easier.

I vary what I have now, sometimes Greek yoghurt with blueberries and a few almonds or walnuts, or a sprinkle of flax seed; or a small crispy chicken thigh with greens and/or a cherry tomato; or a bit of rolled ham with goats cheese and (usually) some greens; or some roast beef from our local shop, again with a few greens; or "porridge" made from flax seed, cream or mascapone cheese, and butter & egg, and I'll be trying this with ground almonds after this week's shopping too. ( I also like my bacon and tomatoes, and am going to add black pud to this as well.) So anything I fancy and can face eating at this time of day, really.- I don't believe in rules about what breakfast should consist of! :)

I've found recipes for pancakes which I'm going to try this week, and am looking for low carb waffle recipes too if I can find a nice cheap waffle maker to cook them in.
