I'm sure there's more.
Last year this place was buzzing. Endless posts and advice from regular members endless new folk joining up to ask advice and offer it too. Every morning was a fasting readings topic where we'd all post everyday our bleary eyed readings.
This place helped me to get really good control of my diabetes ... something I wouldn't have to this day if I had stuck with NHS/NICE out of date guidelines.
Like they say ... if you don't use it you'll lose it.
The people who own the site will have to walk away as will the advertisers and the revenue. I hope that doesn't happen.

hey JTL - you have been around a while and are a legend not only in number of postings but also in knowledge , attitude and tolerance. so i respect that you must see less peeps posting......................... but

the site seems as busy as ever to me -- I can't possibly keep up , to post in all the topics I want to .

I nearly rear ended one of your vans recently! Dozy me's fault of course. Yeah first half of last year there'd be thirty posts before 10 am.

I can not answer for last year as I only joined this Jan 2016 but it looks pretty busy to me. It does take a while to get around all the posts like himtoo said.:happy:

It's still busy but mostly with chat threads which is a shame.
The greater the body of knowledge and the better the search engine, the fewer questions are likely to be asked. Just a fact of life in a growing body of knowledge.

I don't think it's got a great deal less busy though!

I have to agree that the amount, quality and complexity of this site is hugely beneficial to newbees like myself. I read as much as I can on way home on train. More informative than a Daily rag.
I will endeavour to start posting more as now feeling a little selfish just reading a d not contributing.

Why is it a shame? many people need emotional support. Once people learn how to control their diabetes they can give and receive support to help with everyday living. Not everyone enjoys or needs academic argument

I've rarely seen you reply to newbies threads, you mostly hang out on the music threads, don't you?

What has happened, is I now can pick and choose my favourite forums.
I stay away from forums that I have little or no great knowledge of.

The debate on the quiz threads and I don't mind looking for them, as I do contribute on them, as it stretches my knowledge of geography, footie, and words, some of my favourite topics.
I use the quiz threads when I have my limited time to pick and choose what I want to.
And I am waiting for replies. Or discussions.
I think the more options we have, the more posters we have.

Spot on 13lizanne, definitely agree with you. I know I haven't been so involved on the forum lately due to other things that have dominated my life for the last few months. I am on my own, no other adult in the house, so (when I am feeling okay) I like to join in, and that could be with the A to Z's, or a word game, footie thread sometimes, it's stretches my mind, a joke here and there, which means I am involved, as it keeps me focused on something that I WANT to do and not thinking about other things that are going on.
With best wishes.

I like the quiz/chat threads myself but sometimes that seems to be all there is. And for the record, academic argument is not for me. :)

You're right but only because my information has been wrong to many times for newbies. I'll try harder.

It's a big learning curve, I'm not tech minded, so sometimes I wish I could do the links, I've tried bloody so many times and failed miserably.
I can just about manage to steer around the forums to post using one finger!!!

Don't be put off, I've had some discussions with mods over some of mine!
But I've been so pleased to help those that really need it!

I've had lots of likes and thank you's. I used to come on here first thing every morning and post in the fasting reading threads but it becomes pointless doing it on your own. Pointless as in go away for a couple of weeks find everyone has stopped posting in those threads. Yes I've posted quite a lot of stuff about LCHF for newbies but you can't just come here and repeat yourself over and over and over and ... at some point the newbies are supposed to be no longer new and start helping out ... that's what I did so hopeful;ly that's carrying on somewhere that I've missed.

But @JTL you see there is a constant stream of newbies, an unlimited supply of scared and confused people who try to eat healthily by living on brown bread and cutting out fat. They need welcoming and advice.

That said, I don't post a lot either these days.

The world (and forums) is full of people who either pay it forward, or take what they need, and leave.
I try and do the former, mainly because this place has been incredibly helpful to me, but i think there is a cycle to forum membership and everyone goes through phases, and eventually leaves. We all will eventually. Sad, but true.

If you look back through old threads there are very few names you will recognise, even only a few months ago.

Things change @JTL - you either like it or not. The forum is evolving and some will like it and some won't.
