I use Copy me that site for recipes. You just get the actual recipe .

I thought, with the improvement I had made ( hardly any bolus needed for the last week), it was worth trying. She, and the GP she spoke to, were concerned that being so old, I might drop into a hypo before I realised it (rubbish; I would know). They think a constant level in the 5's with the occasional drop into the 3's is dangerous for someone of my age. The nurse will be phoning this afternoon to see how I got on over the weekend and I'll be telling her I'm putting the basal up again. Maybe compromise on 50 and see how that goes. It's the usual one-size-fits-all attitude. Because I'm almost 79, medics assume I am frail (and probably half daft as well) but I am far from it - at least as far as the frail goes. I wouldn't be working on ships, or with animals, any more but that's arthritis, not frailty.

Anyway, from tomorrow morning, it's back up at least to 50 for the Tresiba.

I'll be thinking of you at 3.30 today and hope the interview goes well. Hold your nerve. You know you're strong and up to the tasks on offer.
The nurse just called. She thinks that it is dangerous for me to be down to pre-diabetic levels. I just don't get that. If I can stabilise at around 5 to 6 mmol, I can't see how that is as dangerous as accepting higher levels and the risk of causing other damage in the long run. That's quite apart from the damage I believe higher amounts of insulin are causing in terms of weight gain and general malaise. I'll try 50u of Tresiba tomorrow and see how that goes.

Before breakfast BG was 7.7 (down from 9.4 first thing) so I took 8u of Humalog and had 2 wraps with cheese and 3 very thin slices of tomato - 4 grams of carb in the wraps, tomato? No idea but can't be much. BG rose to 8.2 but has come back down to 7.1 now. I want it to go lower and reach the 5s. It may do that by this evening, it does tend to fall away in the afternoon. The nurse wants me to increase the Humalog, if anything. I don't.

Nearly half past three, Antje. Thinking of you.

Gave you a hug @Annb because it sounds very difficult to deal with getting insulin right. Great that @Antje77 is on this thread too, with her insulin experience and sensible advice, to help guide you as the nurse doesn't seem to be listening to what you'd like to achieve.

Got my raised vegetable beds painted today - good to get it done. Also just had someone round to give us a quote on some garden stuff we can't do ourselves such as repairing a broken fence panel and giving a high hedge a top cut to bring it down a bit. We are hoping to have a small family party in a few weeks so trying to get things more welcoming out in the garden for in case we can hold it there!
Food wise today
Breakfast hm kefir then two boiled eggs and one LC roll
Lunch a few bits of cheese, then a couple of strawberries with hm yoghurt
Dinner salad and cold chicken then a LC blondie.
Hope everyone has had a good day. Right I'm off out to water my tomatoes - gather rain forecast tomorrow but been dry today. Just saw that temperatures going to do down significantly this week so I'm hoping my tomatoes will be okay they are doing so well would be a real shame if cold weather affects them.

Thanks for all your good wishes!
I had a very good talk at the job agency, and she definitely saw something in me. :)
She tried to lure me into an office job as a planner but I told her no, I'd rather play outside for now.

She hopes she has something for me within the week, so we wait and see again, I'm optimistic! :joyful:

Lots of stress before leaving: I had tested if my car would start an hour before I had to leave, all fine. Fine again when I wanted to leave, but it didn't really want to leave its parking spot, so I figured my right back wheel was stuck in a hole or behind some rubbish or such. But when it relented and moved from parking spot to road, my right back wheel made horrible noises so I decided to back up into my nextdoor neighbours' parking spot.
Car wouldn't move, and I was now completely blocking the road with my car square across, plus needing to get to my appointment.

It didn't take long for a couple of cars to arrive and find themselves stuck, so we had a look at my car together. With some more pushing the pedal, it moved, but very reluctantly, turned out my right wheel is completely stuck! At least I was able to park it at my neighbours, almost but not completely blocking their way through with their cars.
I decided that getting to my appointment in time was more important than my nextdoor neighbours, or the one in my garden, and I walked to Tales trailer with all body parts crossed that his car keys were on the table and not with him at work...

They were, so I more or less stole his car, drove half an hour to the appointment, and only after seeing I still had a few minutes to spare I texted him to let him know I took his car without asking, and texted the nextdoor neighbours to apologise for having to manoeuvre around my car now parked on their property in a rather inconvenient place.

I am so very lucky with my neighbours!

Hello all, I had to go out today to run some errands, and got tempted by Home Bargains garden centre! Came home with nicotiana, snapdragons, lobelia and a lovely lace hydrangea, half the price of garden centres.

Two days of very low carb resulted in a 3lb weight loss but that's probably water weight. I'm trying to lose half a stone this month but as with all things weight related, I'm not obsessing, as that triggers my binge eating issues.

Breakfast 1.30pm
4 ryvita, butter, chicken liver pate and a sliced tomato - about 35g carbs

Tea will be some chicken thighs crisped up in the air fryer.

Hope everything went well @ANTJE!

@sueh21 I want the sun back! I think it will rain tomorrow though :( The met office said it was the warmest May on record - well not in my garden it wasn't!

@shelley262 great stuff in the garden, how lovely to have a party there - hope the weather will be favourable! I now have a glut of plants to put in, they go in containers as slugs and snails and the lawnmower are too dangerous to put things in the ground. If they go in pots it takes a while for the slugs and snails to realise they are there, and by then the plants are established and not as tasty. More labour intensive for watering though!

Edit: @Antje77 crikey as if it wasn't stressful enough going to the appointment! Winner to you for working around it, even if it did involve grand theft auto! :hilarious:

Not everything, exactly, but the important bits did! :joyful:
We cross posted, update above.

Now I'm waiting for a mechanic to show up and try to fix the car to the point I can drive to my own mechanic, someone should show up any moment now.

Thanks for all your good wishes!

Well done on things moving in right direction for suitable work @Antje77 and very inventive way to get there on time despite your car wanting to stay at home.

Gosh - winner on both your weight loss and your plant bargains. I would definitely have spent too much especially if they were bargains!
I call it a party as it's a celebration but we have a very small family plus our eldest can only cope with a few people he knows well.

Bit of cheese before exercise class
L: leftover mince from yesterday
3 hours gardening
D: salmon and green beans with abundance of olive oil due to slip while pouring! Expensive mistake these days, though the cat still gobbled all the skin!
Nut bar x 2

Fridge is empty, must shop tomorrow
Hugs for the stuck car @Antje77
And congratulations on the plant bargains @jpscloud . I'm trying to resist buying this year.

You have such potential! Don’t waste your talents!
You will enjoy working, and I hope you are offered outdoor work that you will enjoy.
Well done, on your determination to get to your appointment, and your problem solving skills that got you there.

@Antje77. Thread!!
Will do better, I promise!
Too complicated to adjust now by moving part of it here, and it was only very short, hopefully short enough to not be too bad. :bag::sorry:

The car issues may actually have worked in favour for me. Because it was the last thing that happened before I drove to the appointment, it was the first thing I talked about by way of casual small talk in the hallway on our way to the interview.
Which completely unplanned and unintended showed my problem solving skills and determination!

The mechanic has temporarily solved the problem with the car by removing the brake shoe and have me promise to get it fixed ASAP. :)

My usual car fixing place is in Harlingen, almost 30 km (about 18 miles) away. Which means I need someone to come along in their car and bring me back, and the other way around when it's fixed. I can find someone without issue, I'm sure.
But I just got an offer from a friend who lives in Harlingen. He has an electric scooter (about 30 mph), and I can borrow it!
Which means I'll save someone driving a total of 120 km, I'll have a means of transport until my car is fixed, and I'll have great fun with the electric scooter! :joyful:
I'll send you a picture from my roadtrip tomorrow!

Breakfast: scrambled eggs and 2 RyVita.

I was supposed to be going out to a pot-luck event this afternoon for which I've made a whole pile of chicken drumsticks ready to finish in a barbecue sauce and a big bowl of salad waiting for dressing to finish it off. Opening my e-mail a few minutes ago I find that the event has been put off until tomorrow. Usually I check my e-mail first thing in the morning but today I didn't, I just got on with the food prep and have only just checked it. The chicken should be OK until tomorrow but the salad will probably be soggy so can't be used. It's a huge bowlful and far too much for me to get through today. It's a very fruity salad as well so not what I should be eating.

@Annb bad luck about finding out late about your rearranged pot luck event.
I'm off out in a few mins we are meeting up with friends at the local brewery which has a lovely relaxed bar. Luckily I don't like beer so won't be tempted - will be wine for me.
Breakfast kefir then fried one slice of bacon and egg
Lunch kimchi, some cheese and 4 Olinas lc crackers then a couple of strawberries with hm yoghurt
Early dinner sea bass and asparagus.
Hope everyone having a good day - I used opportunity of a wet uninviting day to clean the house , much prefer gardening to cleaning but it has to be done! At least sun has now come out. I'm going to cover my tomatoes before I go out as very low temperatures predicted tonight and don't want them upset!

Hello all,

Breakfast 12pm
Glass of kefir
Bacon and eggs
2 ryvita with butter

5pm
Beef mince with onions and mushrooms

6 montezuma buttons
