"What have you eaten" Parallel Chat

B: 2 scrambled eggs with some very decent mature pecorino grated over.
Cwc
A walk round a garden in the mist and rain. Typical autumn.
L: in a cafe. Cwc (real cream!) Watched hubby eat a toasted ham and bacon muffin. Made him pay with a bite of his pistachio frangipane.
Back at home, seedy crackers with more of the pecorino.
Chia pudding made with yoghurt, blackberries and cream

D: 2 sausages cooked with onion, celery and mushrooms and gravy served on celeriac mash (which I had frozen last January!. Was absolutely fine). More of the chia pudding.

Hugo's gone home. Grandson has a few days off so he came this evening to take Hugo home with him. He is, actually, a very good dog, but still a bit of a bind in a house not set up for a dog- no dog flap or door that can be left open for access to the garden, nobody able to take him for walks, not realising that I am easily tripped or knocked over by an over-enthisiastic game, fridge door just about at the right level for him to get his nose into when I open it. Nevertheless, a well-behaved and obedient dog who loves people and attention. I actually gave in today and gave him a few treats of slices of ham on top of his normal food.

It was a delight to see his joy when his young "owner" came for him. He was absolutely beside himself. He'd actually reached the point of trying to give me "kisses" this last day. A bit overwhelming when the one kissing is a rather large hound (with rather short legs). He was hauling himself up onto my big chair (while I sat on the office chair next to it), looking every bit like that walrus on the Virgin advert when it climbs into a motor boat, standing up on the arm of the chair and leaning over to me to lick my ear. Endearing, but a little disconcerting. Maybe he was being grateful for the ham, or maybe hoping for more. He'll be happier now that he is home.

I had my turkey mince with vegetables and chickpea rice - rather like a risotto. Made enough for 2 small meals but then went back for a 2nd helping and finished it. Have to think of something else for breakfast tomorrow.

Oh Rosemary please do go and enjoy yourself and your family and friends wholeheartedly. T2 can step aside for a while, side effects or complications take years to develop and I reckon you've already beaten the odds. Life is for living and a few enjoyable meals and gatherings are probably worth their weight in making you feel good and loved.
That was lovely, thank you.

Oh, looks like the best picture didn't post, here it is:

An alternative view….
You trespassed and defrauded the guys who are trying to earn a living, have mortgaged their lives to lease the dock from the city council, clean and make safe the dock walls, removed debris and WW2 bombs from the bottom of it, and test water quality, provide a safe access to and from the water, provide clean showering and changing facilities., provide safe sessions with lifeguards, floats, etc., and meet all government health and safety requirements, but still only charge £5 for their sessions, that have to be booked to conform with their licence to operate.
But never mind, you are an anarchist, after all. ;):banghead:;)

Yes, the owners are known to me.:( I will reimburse them as a special treat to you, and a sign of respect to them, for all they are trying to achieve.

I would have been happy to pay if there would have been someone to pay to, but there wasn't. And I couldn't be there at a time they are open. And I still wanted to swim but I was in a hurry because I had a breakfast date with a good friend, so no time to search for a different spot. And I am somewhat of an anarchist too, depending on circumstances.

Thank you for your generous treat to me, and for supporting this perfect swimming spot while you're at it!
Please let them know I loved their swimming spot and I appreciate what they do. And tell them I'm sorry for not being sorry to have breached the rules, it added a bit of enjoyable excitement to my swim!
Promise to not do it again though, if I ever come all the way to Liverpool again I'll take some more time to find a non illegal swimming spot, or I'll join them during opening hours (if they'll still have me that is...).

@Annb _ if you are likely to have Hugo again, mention it beforehand and I can give you some easy tips and wrinkles to change the behaviours you don't want. All easy, kind and positive-training based.
Thanks for that offer. I wouldn't be surprised if another holiday here is proposed sometime.

I will forward this with payment.

They will likely see the funny side, but would probably point out that there are 43 docks in Liverpool. This one is only one of a few that has safety considerations.
You made a good choice for your stolen swim. ;)

Please do, and include my picture as well, they are welcome to use it as an example of ****** tourists abusing their good work and bragging about it too!

I love how you both agree and disagree with my choices at the same time, and your solution to the problem is simply brilliant. :hilarious:
Thanks again!

Next week will be interesting again, foodwise.
I haven't really gotten into making regular meals yet after two weeks of holidays, although I've eaten well, low carb, and some very decent meals too.

I'll be doing a 7 day sailing trip with a group as a deckhand. Usually, the skipper and deckhand eat with the group, with diabetes it's a bit more complicated. So I'll bring various foods that can be eaten without cooking, I hope I can share some of their meals, and if not, veggies will likely be scarce for a week.

I don't mind somewhat erratic numbers for a bit, but I am partly responsible for some 30 inexperienced people on a sailing ship and I can't use surprise hypos while working a ship like this, it's only the skipper and I, the rest are paying guests.
The evening meals give some more room for dosing errors, we'll usually spend the night in a harbour and not at sea, but still.

Looking forward to it!
My skipper is someone I've known since 1998 when I first started doing this work, we started around the same time. Never sailed together though, but there will be lots of shared memories. :)

What a beautiful craft! @Antje77.

Been having tech problems a lot today.
First phone and apps that didn't seem to want me to check in for a flight tomorrow. That swallowed most of the morning so I missed breakfast. Got to dance class then couple of errands meant it was a 2pm lunch of 2 scrambled eggs, bit of cheese. 2 sgq hm lc nasty tasting chocolate cake covered with plain greek yoghurt.
Hair cut, salon has new massage chairs while your hair is being washed. Very relaxing.
D: 3 eggs omelette with cheese and ham, salad and a fewcarrots.
The fridge is now bare.
Internet has been playing up all evening. Hope it lasts for me to catch up on forum posts.
Might try fasting until tomorrow evening as most of my day will be spent on trains and airport and I haven't prepared food to take. Will have couple of nutbars at the ready in case.

I needed something substantial this morning so made 2 dropped scones (not sweetened) and 2 fried eggs for breakfast.

2nd meal will be chicken - I asked Neil to buy chicken legs (2 in a pack usually) but he couldn't get that so came back with a packed of about 10 each of drumsticks and thighs. They will go out of date today so I'll have to do something with them. Thinking tandoori chicken, in the oven. Eat some/freeze some. Better get it in to marinate pretty soon.

Alistair just phoned from Aberdeen. They have had some fun with flights but at least are now back in Scotland - just - and have to make their way to Inverness to pick up their car before driving to Ullapool for the afternoon ferry. They should have time, as long as the car has enough charge to get to Ullapool.

Apparently, on the way out from Inverness last week, the pilot came over the Tannoy to announce that there was a problem with the on-flight computer and engineers had suggested turning it off and turning it back on to fix it, so power was being cut to the cabin. Ten minutes later, it all came back on again and the pilot was happy to take off. A bit disconcerting to my mind. However, they got to their destination and have had a good week there. Coming back, they changed planes at Schipol but in the air, the plane developed a fault and they had to go back to Amsterdam. After a bit of a hassle with airport staff they were given a hotel for a few hours and a flight to Aberdeen early this morning, instead of Inverness. Fingers crossed that they make it to the ferry.

Eek,that sounds a bit hairy with the planes @Annb, I am not a big fan of flying at the best of times. It’s ok rebooting a home computer, not so sure about a flying machine :(
Sounds like you have a fun week ahead @Antje77 hope it all goes well and diabetes behaves itself. Hope you have a smooth journey @MrsA2
Just had a much needed sort out of freezer and pantry, made a food plan for the week to use up bits and bobs to make room for Christmas

Oh no you mentioned Christmas! I was in Birmingham for day yesterday and was horrified how many shops were playing Christmas music the German Christmas market starts on 1st of November but I thought tunes too early!
Btw went to Dishoom yesterday and had a few wonderful lunch although it should have been an expensive meal as I was treating 5 people because of family birthdays. However I was given some sort of key ring token when I was there for my summer birthday. The token allows you to roll a dice once after the meal - to see if you roll a six and amazingly I did! It meant the whole bill meal and drinks was on the house it felt like winning the lottery.
