Weird aren't they?

Indeedy. :meh:

Not sure I'll see these through to the end, at the portion sizes I have with my lunch. Where's an adventurous OH when one has weird food that needs eating!?

Breakfast: Courgette frittata with a teaspoon of harissa in the eggs, grilled tomato, buttered mushrooms and a couple of rashers of back bacon.

Lunch: Homemade chicken liver pate thickly spread on one slice of seedy wholemeal toast with gherkins. Had a doughnut peach after - wowsers was it sweet! :wideyed: Only been eating berries, a kiwi, the odd apple in a salad or slice of melon the last 6 months.

Snack: 25g of ASDA Extra Special 85% Ivory Coast & Dominican Republic Dark Chocolate. Seriously good and the small 40g bars are 3 for £1 at the moment. The usual bar is £1.29 for 100g. Carb content is 21g/100g

Dinner: Having Cod poached on top of a soupy concoction of passata, garlic, onion, chorizo, rosemary, spring greens and cannellini beans.

Things haven't been going well today - I discovered I bought the wrong yoghurt last night so instead of some nice creamy Greek yoghurt it was some rather odd organic plain - yuck. That wasn't helped by discovering 2 of the 4 packs of raspberries I also bought were rotten - it's very difficult to get decent fresh food here :(

At least my poached eggs worked and OH is being generous with his 75% dark chocolate.

She brought a shed load back, we actually bought another suitcase out there to stuff full of food to bring home.

As for my c-peptide test, refused at doctors, went to DN specialist and was told as I'm under good control (I don't see it like that) I cannot have it unless I go private / pay for it, I will just keep badgering them every time I see them till they get fed up with me.

Bfast: 2 egg omelette & slice of livlife with marmite on
Lunch: bowl of salad
Snack: handful of almonds
Dinner: will be stir fried beef in black pepper & nut ball

Bf. Branflakes with ss milk, boiled egg.
lunch. Homemade veg soup, one boiled egg.
dinner. Sausage casserole on bed of cabbage.

Breakfast turkey rashers. Mushrooms, omelette
Lunch feta and tuna salad
Dinner steak and portabello mushrooms, asparagus, homemade coleslaw and salad
Snack may have some strawbs later

Breakfast: boiled egg, yogurt with berries and flax

Lunch: boiled egg, chicken salad with mini bread sticks (1" long, 5g carbs in total) and a laughing cow triangle

Snack: 6 almonds and 4 Brazil nuts, babybel after swimming

Dinner: chilli con carne with wild rice

Crustless quiche and small Greggs latte

70% choc square. Or 3

Pork scratchings and Brie. I wonder some days if I should add in a salad. But I can pack my lunch in 5 secs, or chop toms, lettuce, etc, decant coleslaw... for 5 mins. No contest, really.

Steak, chips, peas and a big salad. Farewell dinner with a friend who's leaving. Sniff.

Will have strawberries and cream later.

Well 50g of wild rice was a stupid idea (only 12g total carb) but went from 4.1 to 8.6 at 1 hour. Agh!

Maybe I'll try 30g next time...

Rice does that to me too - unless it is the richest, gooeyest, cheesiest, butteriest risotto in the world. But then I still get the delayed rise 'pizza effect', so I don't win in the end.

Back down to 5.6 half an hour later. Well that was a peak and a half. What's the bet the pizza effect kicks in soon? My prediction is the meat and cheese will kick in in a couple of hours...you know...if previous tests are anything to go by.

Gosh that attitude really p**ses me off ... we're really not encouraged to show some initiative and have a keen interest in our health are we? The attitude seems to be 'we'll wait til it's broke, then we'll fix it', as opposed to trying to stop it from breaking in the first place

Could someone answer a couple of questions for me please? I've recently reduced my carbs (now that low by most LCHF followers standards!) and the last 2 days my bloods are barely moving one way or another. Seem to stick around 6.3 before and 2 hours after meals. Is it better for them to be a little higher but stable than more ups and downs (between 5 and 6.5, say) or is it irrelevant? I had been having some odd hypo symptoms at times but my bloods were never that low and feel better with less carbs (physically anyway!)

Also, I tend to eat around every 2 hours .. so if I do a test 2 hours after a meal, and reading say 5.8, if I eat a snack and test again 2 hours later before next meal, reading is say 5.3. But if I do a 2 hour after breakfast reading and don't have a snack, my before lunch reading is up in the 7's. What does this mean?

Hope this makes sense.

@Lesleywo, hi! maybe you might need to reduce your carbs even further? Or increase physical activity? in my experience, if I get a high-ish reading I take a walk probs 10-20 up to 30 min then It usually goes back to my target sugar reading. Hard to analyze numbers, hope some of the members w more experience get to help out. :)

Me still boring and very low carbing, though I'm now easily getting into my old jeans (with high waist), not worn for 7 years and final of decreasing sizes in my wardrobe collection. I think the body is slowly re-shaping without enormous weight loss....don't know.
Brekkie; bullet coffee/fat coffee (300 ml coffee with 40 g coconut oil and 45 g Kerrygold)
Afternoon coffee with 1 tbsp coconut oil and 1 tbsp Jersey cream
Dinner; Planning to have home made burgers from grass-fed beef with extra butter melting on top of them and kimchi (my new healthy addiction) and some lovely taleggio as dessert.

Breakfast-branflakes, ss milk, 1 boiled egg.
lunch-homemade veg soup, 1 boiled egg.
dinner-salmon fillet, roasted cauli, roasted butternut squash, leek bacon and sour cream. x

Breakfast scrambled egg
Lunch Mexican chicken slices, few mini chipolatas and piece cheese from M and S
Dinner en route back home from day out so had gammon steak at wetherspoons - ate 6 chips and have rest away. 5.7 (5.2 in decent strip money) at 2hrs so ok . Should have been chicken and chorizo in slow cooker but Mr E forgot to finish defrosting chicken this morning in time.
Snack 4 sq 72% dark chocolate

Bf 2 livlife with marmite

Lunch Beef Nam Tok ( not quite the same as eating it last few weeks, been back a week but feels like a month, got bad holiday blues!!)

Dinner Doner Kebab minus pitta
2 nut balls

Breakfast: Full fat Greek yoghurt with chopped walnuts, almonds and brazils topped with blueberries and strawberries.
Lunch: Made a huge bowl of red cabbage coleslaw and gorged on it along with a mixed salad and sliced beef left over from Sunday.
Dinner: Having smoked haddock baked on top of a celeriac and spinach gratin - new recipe so hope it's good!
