Exactly why I can't wait to get to Washington State with the wife. Nothing over 85 F all year and then only for a few days.

Sleep tight as your comments take me back to when i was a kid and how I loved getting warm. Must be all this weight loss and feeling it :)

Delish, except for a scary lack of butter, cream and cheese.
You're not doing low fat are you?
(she says in tones of horror!)

Ignore me.
Eat exactly the amount of fat you like.
But I will think you are mad, if you don't at least use some on your eggs! ;)
Hi Brunneria, good morning.
You'll be please to know I'm not mad crazy smiley.jpgI took your advice and cooked the same for my brekky as yesterday but this time fried in "I can't believe it's not butter". Must admit it did taste so much butter.....better.
This mornings reading before brek...........7.2 will check again in 2 hrs.

All good but I would suggest real butter would have been better on lchf diet

Yes, and when (if) you graduate to cream, don't waste your time on namby pamby lightweights, like single cream or (oh, the horror!) Elmlea.

Go straight for the double cream.
(We get 600mls of double cream, and 600mls of extra thick double cream. They last about a week. Mr B has one dollop a day in coffee. I have the rest. My cholesterol and Trigs are FINE. And he is currently gaining weight, while I am losing. Go figure, eh?)

I'm liking the idea of the coffee and cream thing, so might get some cream when I nip out later. roger rabbit.jpg

AllieBee,
Strange you should say that - but a couple of weeks after I was diagnosed I went out with friends and we ended up in a fish and chip shop for dinner.
I was just a tad worried, but, hey, I thought, ok, this is just a great treat.
I tested two hours later and was fine.
Couldn't work it out at the time, but now I'm beginning to get it!

Looking at your postings, this is a whole different approach to food - things I've avoided or been very careful with for years.
I just can't believe it won't send my cholesterol through the roof... but I'll give it a try!

To be fair, people often do experience a rise of cholesterol in the short term (a few weeks) then for most people, it drops and stabilises at a lower than it started.

So if you should have a set of blood tests taken in the first 6 or so weeks, don't be disheartened.
And we should ALL be having regular tests and monitoring by our docs.

The only people (that I know of) who are likely to have problems on LCHF are those with hereditary hypercholesterolemia - but if anyone has better info, then please post it.

I think I'm going to love this thread - you seem to have your own community just here and I'd love to be allowed to join it!!
Brunneria, I have familial hyperlipidaemia, which is why I'm cautious of the fats, but I have been on meds for this for years and when I had my blood tests done on T2 diagnosis, by levels were the best ever!!! (4.4)
So, I'm going to write down some of the ideas for meals here and start a trial run!
I'm due to have a bloods re-test after Christmas, so that will show how things are going.
Love it here already!

B: Greek yoghurt, oats, raspberries and double cream, coffee with double cream
L: Out for mothers birthday lunch with parents and sister so I was a bit naughty. Had roast pork, three roast potatoes ( my first since starting lchf) assorted veg and an enormous Yorkshire pudding! Thought I may as well go the whole hog and had double chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream, yum! Bg after 2 hours was only 8.8, so I'm happy with that. Still full, so I might just have some yoghurt and oats later. :-)

breakfast turkey bacon scrambled eggs
lunch smoked turkey and cheese salad, 6 crisps, 1 sq Lindt 85 % chocolate
dinner chilli, cheese, salad and 1 taco shell
may have more chocolate or cheese later

B: whole-oat grains (groats) with yoghurt, double cream, chia, half a Bramley apple, nuts, seeds
L: ham, tomatoes & 2 eggs all fried in coconut oil & butter with toasted cheese bites & extra butter & cheese; coffee
Snack: 2 x toasted cheese bites with butter; coffee with cinnamon & cream
D: chicken casserole with tarragon & cream sauce; steamed veg
Snack: berries with double cream; coffee

B - 2x bacon, loads of mushrooms cooked in butter and 1 egg scrambled
L - was out so had crustless quiche(I took the crust off lol) and salad with some mini scotch eggs
S - peanuts
D - chicken kebabs with tomatoe & olive salad, a little olive oil, cheese and sour cream

I have berries and cream for later if I fancy it

B: coffee with cream
L: smoked salmon pate
S: karg cracker with marmite. Shouldn't have (wheat) but Mr B doesn't like them, and it would be a crime to let them go stale. Plus, he was out, and wouldn't give me grief for eating wheat ;).
D: roast chicken + skin :wacky:, huge amounts of mashed cauli cheese, green beans

May have Strawbs n cream later.
But I want one of the mince pies in the unopened packet in the cupboard.

Resist- I had fish and chips on Thursday and my stomach has reminded me ever since about the wheat!

I think that I must have the same GP, Cold Ethyl!
Got up to 4 a day but had to cut back to only one in the evening if I wanted to be able to go out the following day!!!
:yuck:
