HiOk : )
So is that why you asked the question in the title of this thread - because you wanted to simulate a person with Type 1 on an Atkins diet?
Hi
I am a scientist I am driven by an overwheling curiosity drive. I have stimulated a discussion so I can learn and teach. You are one of the reasons. Yes I wanted to find out if Atkins was enough to control diabetes (1 and/or 2). I will change my article to mention that some insulin is probably necessary. I still do not know if you could get by with less insulin (say ocationally) and a severe Atkins diet. I assume that would be more convenient. Do you know?
If a person with Type 1 reduces the amount of carbs they eat, then they can also reduce their insulin dose. But they will always need insulin, as explained earlier. So an Atkins diet alone will not control Type 1.
Is an Atkins diet more convenient for a Type 1? Not really because it still needs a lot of work to balance insulin and blood sugar. Protein can also cause blood sugar to rise, so insulin is needed to control that rise and it can be difficult to calculate exactly how much is needed for protein. Also, a higher level of fat (to replace the missing carbs) can change the way blood sugar rises. This is also something that has to be taken into account when trying to calculate the correct insulin dose for such a diet.
For some people with Type 2 diabetes, an Atkins diet or similar low carb diet can control their diabetes. Some Type 2s can use diet only to control their diabetes, but others need tablets or insulin too.
HiWhat is your wife's 'full fledged T2 diet?' Is it low carb? Mediterranean diet?

I read the post in the middle blog as you suggested. It is interesting. One thing I disagree about was that the Yugoslav wars of the 90s had anything to do with religion. I would substitute the word nationalism and add that religion became an excuse for power hungry apologists for extreme nationalism and territorial acquisition.
I bow to better knowledge!
But isn't everything about control and how we live our lives.
Religion, politics, power, ownership, royalty, banks and governments. And the worst nationalism, racist tactics and propaganda.
Divide and conquer, tactics used to defeat social advancement by y he multi corporations and capitalists.
You could put a baseline of who has the stronger motive and force to wage war on another group of people.
I think we will be always fighting amongst ourselves, using any excuse to acquire possessions!
HiI'm not sure this qualifies as a scientific reference, but a lot of this was brought up first in a book called The Paleolothic Prescription
Hi
See just has to eat enough sugar/starch so that her insulin stimulating medicine does not produce low blood sugar. She foulishly followed my diet to the hospital (severe low blood sugar).
HiSounds like your wife is eating to her medication rather than attuning her medication to what she is eating?
I presume this means she is on insulin?
Hi
No the standard medicine to stimulate insulin production (medforman?).
HiIf you mean metformin it doesn't stimulate insulin production. It may lower blood glucose levels a little although I never found this to be so. The main benefits are reducing insulin resistance and acting as an appetite suppressant. It also has protective properties against some other health problems ( can't remember which ones).
HiIf you are a scientist, why haven't you found out what these meds do and what they are for. Basic endocrinology and first meds for all T2 diabetics.
It protects the organs from misinformed doctors, dsns, GPs, and know it all's especially scientists!
I am not a diabetic. I have a different autoimmune problem.Hi
What does this have to do with the physics of the uper atmosphere?
I took amlodipine tablets for a while for my high blood pressure, thankfully I don't need them now.Hi
I should ask my wife what is the medicine. She takes bundles (heart valve replacement). She guess Amloadepine. She cut dose + never tried with my very low sugar/starch diet.

What is the other autoimmune disease? I have Hashimoto's, for example, and it would be interesting to note how prevalent certain autoimmune conditions are on the forum
HiWhy?
I thought your scientific research was in endocrinology and genetics not the ozone layer?
True, but you don't seem to be that good at listening to the answers.Hi
What made you think that. I spent 6 years trying to figure out my problems. I found only one researcher who had the confidence and the humility to help me. Just because I started out at epsilon (heading to 0) knowledge to start with there is this thing called the internet and I can interview people (like this blog) and/or ask questions.
