Hi,

I really hoped a cold would jog on by now, which leaves me a little unsure how to play training at work which starts tomorrow and is in person with others who I have no idea if vulnerable nor how much I'll take in, nearly having a car accident Friday when I tried to venture out, I'm feeling really unsure.

I tried to get annual leave towards end of last week to recharge but this couldn't be accommodated.

(I normally work from home so was able to cover it up largely last week but off to a bad start today with all callers saying have you got a cold, you ought to be in bed)

I've tested for Covid over weekend but that came back negative. I think it is more a sinus problem with a bunged/runny nose. I've tried loads of otc medication but it isn't shifting, every morning back to square one and even if I were now to purchase antibiotics for sinus problems they'd be no use now I feel.

As the trainer, would you want to know in advance? Ordinally if it was a job interview I'd have attended but a 3 day course in person I ain't sure.

If you feel that ill, just report how you are feeling to your line manager, and see what is recommended.

Then either see your doctor, or pharmacist, to request their opinion on need for medication.
You are not able to purchase antibiotics. They are prescription only meds.

My line manager actually isn't in themselves.

I'm due to see the GP end of the week for antidepressants (ironically not on prescription by them) so that is something I suppose.

I did see a legitimate pharmacy who will sell antibiotics for around £25 but under a postal service whom I have used before for treating UTI's when the GP say's see a chemist.

It’s best to see a HCP, either a Dr or even a pharmacist before taking any antibiotics, taking them if you don’t need them (if your cold is viral without infection) can affect they’re potency for fighting an infection next time you need them

Antibiotics will not work for anything viral

Thanks, I've hardly been dealing with this for 2 days.

There is no fear of seeing anyone from my surgery sooner then I have already got booked for.

Honestly you don’t know my background or whatever medical conditions I’m dealing with. I’m truly beginning to understand why many forums restrict talking about medical advice.

I have turned up to public sector training with a sore throat back, bringing up bloody phlegm and to find actually we’re all bar one or two people, dying with colds. OK?

Hi,

I seriously feel your pain.
Came down with something I caught off my boss?
Sinus stuff like lead weight in my head & giving me nose bleeds?
I haven't had nose bleeds since I was a kid.
For me my work tends not to bring me into close contact with anyone out in the “field.”
However, I did feel awful driving. You could push the angle of “fitness to drive?” Till it subsides.

For what it’s worth I work full time & also sing in a couple of bands. I did pull the plug on a rehearsal last minute not wishing to pass this on to other members. (& in the hope it blew over by the time we did the gig.)

I’m not sure what you do.. sounds like part of your job is working from home?
Oddly, the boss that gave me this shtuff. Took the opportunity to WFH. I just wish she’d made the decision sooner..
No shame in saying “look guys. I don’t feel great, but I can perform remotely?”

Hot whisky & lemon took the edge of it for me..

Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery.

I work in a call centre for local authority - answering calls back to back which probably isn’t helping the voice.

I am getting a lift to training after last weeks antics and only for the grace of god another driver behind me realising I was making a mistake but only 2 days until I’m back home again.

Fortunately today has given great prospective that other people including the trainer also come out when unwell. I’m glad I didn’t say anything in advance now!!

Thanks for caring I’ve tried that many otc things but it can only get better, given time.

I hear what you say. I work fo a housing association & sing in a metal band (2 of them.)
Not sure if you had the cough? (As a hangover.) I found the singing gave respite? Though lucky it’s a music genre where the rougher sound fits?

It will get better.

Kind regards,

Jay.
