What treatment should I be receiving

Can anyone offer any advice. I was diagnosed type 2 about 4 years ago. I am disabled so exercise was out of the question, but I tried to restrict my carb intake and as a consequence my Hba1c improved, down to 6.2. I also lost weight, although I was not overweight at the time. However, my wife passed away at the end of September and since then I have lost all motivation. My diet is still ok, but not low carb. I have become increasingly immobile, with severe pain and restricted movement in both shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. I have been told that I am extremely low in vitamin d and been prescribed high strength tablets.
However, after my last Hba1c (about 4 weeks ago), which was 10.6, I was told to increase my Gliclazide from 2 per day to 3 per day.
My question is this: as my BG readings are still increasing ( my fasting readings are currently running at 14.5) should I not be receiving more medication to improve my situation?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello @maxgarry I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife and all the difficulties that you are experiencing with your mobility and diet. I'm sorry Max but forum members aren't qualified or allowed to offer medical advice. Do you have a specialist diabetic nurse at your GP practice who you could telephone and explain your worries to? Or perhaps a phone consultation with your GP? When is your next HbA1c due? If longer than a week or so you really need to allay your fears by talking to a health professional. Good luck

When you were on a low carb diet your HbA1C was 6.2. When you started eating carbs again it went up to 10.6 and your fasting blood glucose levels are now very high.

The advice is to go back to a low carb diet, such as the Low Carb High Fat diet that many people here use. You can take lots of medication for your high blood sugar, but it wont get your blood sugar back to when you were on a low carb diet.

By not reducing your blood sugars you risk serious diabetes complications.

Hi. Apart from anything else you must go back to that low-carb diet and I'm sure you realise that but it must be difficult having lost your wife. If you can get the weight down and hence the BS it will be easier for the GP to determine any medication changes; also to verify that you are T2 and not actually a T1.
