Sounds as though it is all proceeding nicely @SaskiaKCI just got a phone call from the apartment manager in the little town. He says they may have an apartment for me soon, and gave me instructions on how to schedule my move-out date here with my move-in date there. It looks like I should start typing up my move-out notice to turn in to the management here. I suddenly started to think about just ordering an air mattress to be sent here, and finding someone to come and take away my old mattress and sofa. They are not in any shape to donate to our thrift store or any new residents but apparently I can't just leave them here as I'd hoped (paying the maintenance men to take them out of my apartment to the trash room).
I looked at the KittenCat and thought that all I really want to do is crate her, pack my clothes and favorite books, and book an Uber car to take us all to the new place. Forget everything else. Unfortunately, I have files, lamps, household linens and kitchenware, all of which I will need in the new place ... But none of them are treasures I can't do without.
I wouldn't have done what your friend did @PenguinMum that's not respectful.My girls are not allowed in our bedroom due to Mr PM’s asthma. He is ok as long as he doesn't touch them, then he has to wash his hands before he touches his face otherwise streaming eyes. When my friend had her dog and stayed with us her dog slept on her bed which I was never happy about that either. Not citicising anyone bcause we all make our own house rules.

I sat on it at the store and it seemed fine, i was comfortable, back was high enough to support my neck, seat was not too deep for my short(ish) legs and my feet could reach the floor, except at home they didn't. Reach the floor that is, I then realized they mustn't have attached the feet in the shop so at home, sofa was 2/3 inches higher. For someone whose is an ambitious 5ft, those 2/3 inches make a world of difference. No alternative but to lounge rather than sit which I think is a good solution.

I hated being messed about with when I was first prescribed hearing aids, and my deafness is relatively mild. I cannot imagine what you must be going through but I can understand why you may desire quietness.Thank you I am still resting @Ryhia

All sounds very promising if a little fraught. Always very hard deciding when to let go of some things from the past as we found out not long ago. Right about now some of your compatriots are coming to buy a writing bureau we should have sold before the move. Hope it all goes well and is everything you could wish.

Yes and beautiful German kitchens with the lift up wall cupboard doors are out. On the plus side for my own kitchen I am step stool trainedAt 5'2" I often have the same problem with the floor not quite touching my feet!

All sounds very promising and hope it all goes well for you. I think that I moved over nine times whilst in the military and three times since then. Our current home is the longest that we have ever been in one place, 14 years. Never got any easier but taking a long run at it reduces stress at both ends. One idea to think of, if you start now you can begin a) taking an inventory, separating things to take with you, things to part with, listing things you may need to obtain once that you are there and b) packing a little at a time. Boxes not too big, labelled and contents noted for when you get to your new place.
