good morning all

was 5.2 yesterday a couple of hours after I woke up because I forgot to test straight away, 4.6 today

it actually looks to be dry so far here finally after such a lot of rain I'm hoping that we will get some good drying so we can get some grass cut, Mum's soil is quite heavy with quite a bit of clay so it takes ages for her garden to dry out whereas ours is much dryer and sandier so it dries more quickly.

mr. gee is thinking of taking off the top of a couple of small trees which are getting too tall, I will stand by and probably do some strimming too if it's dry enough

Very diplomatic DJC...he's a thief plain & simple...I'm not even sure he likes the cats food...it may be a territorial thing...he may as well give up Churchill is not one to be messed with

Part of the problem is trust DJC..when an animal has been abused & treated badly often the only way they know how to respond to fear is by biting & lashing out...the damage was clearly done early on long before he found a loving home with your daughters family which makes it all the more tragic...I hope they will try again.
 

Lol she sounds like me ... Although the clergy I have known have mostly been dog men so nothing there to tempt home ... Maybe a cat is an idea for her next birthday?

My KittenCat is all well now but I am feeling poorly. 6.3 fbg so that's ok but something has been not right since I woke up an hour ago. Eating a little just made it worse, oddly, so I have gone back to bed.

I did think as much after it all they are better off at home. I hope the other dog is coping. Thanks for asking but I have macular edema/retinal vein occlusion in my right eye. I have lost quite a bit of sight and hopefully the course of injections I start tomorrow will prevent it getting worse. Its administered by the consultant into the white part after hopefully some good anaesthetic. Some on the forum have had it done and it helped. Luckily the other eye is good because my biggest fear is being unable to drive.
 
Had the dreaded eye checks at the hospital. My big fear was that the macular oedema had come back and I would need a course of Lucentis injections. I have a phobia about injections into the eye - which was why I got so stressed yesterday.

So had some tests - saw the doctor after the tests - cateracts had got a bit worse - and see you in another year. Everything else OK.

I had a dilemma. There was one test the doctor hadn't done - perhaps she hadn't done it because it wasn't necessary. I could just leave and see them in another year. Phew - what a relief.

And then I remembered what I have learned in this forum - it is up to us to take charge of our health. So I said - you didn't do the specific test for macular oedema - do you think it may be helpful to do it.

The doctor said -'yes, if you.want it done we can do it'. Thank goodness I went with my gut feeling. There was macular oedema in both eyes - not hugely bad but bad enough to need injections. First one next Monday. Strangely enough I am no longer scared of having it done.

Not sure why after all this time on keto why it has come back. The only thing I have changed this year is that I have stopped taking vitamin c and my multi vitamin. So I am straight back on them.
 
Trying to relax this morning....

I used a disposable eye steam mask because the regular heated eye masks are all too heavy. This disposable one works well and relaxes my eyes, and I can blink with it on.

But Popeye came on the bed. Got on my stomach and began patting my chest. When I didn't move, he began patting my face gently...but the heat in the eye mask only lasts about 10 mins so I didn't want to move.

Popeye doesn't actually touch the eye mask with his paws, but I can feel his nose touching it.

He rests his chin on my chin.

Cat breath....

And then settles to rest.

I have this image in my mind of a dog sitting on his dead master's chest and refusing to leave.

I reach for my iPad besides my bed and blindly take some pics and hope I have caught something. When I looked after, it was either all my face, or all cat. This was the only one where you can see the fur on his back.

I have taken the eye mask off now, but he is refusing to leave my chin...

Yes I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there. At the moment she ( daughter) is distraught as their other lovely old lady Dane is in the vets with vomiting of unknown aetiology. I hope to goodness that nothing bad will happen to her.
She has told us to carry on with our quest for a new dog and not to stop being excited about it on her behalf. I think it would certainly be a good thing for the girls.
