What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Buenos días from Lands Are Grotty. So far, I am the only one up so am whispering this. The usually early risers, Chaos and Mayhem, had a heavy night last night, walking back from the restaurant, so the quiet of house of doors is only being broken by the sound of my keyboard and the frantic complaints from the fridge as I deigned to open it’s door to extract milk for my morning brew. Thankfully, Mrs Miggins had placed enough Yorkshire tea into her over stuffed steamer trunk to replicate the goings on in Boston back in 1773.

The wonder wheel of misadventures and machinations reluctantly, and with no dignity at all, bestowed a 5.1 this morning - must have been all that exercise and fish.

Yesterday began with a great hunter gathering explore with Little Miss Pamplemousse and myself. We dispatched ourselves at sparrows fart to a nearby supermarket that we skilfully tracked down with our knowledge of bushcraft and Google Maps, in search of the elusive stock cube for mum (don’t go there).
On our way back up the mountain we discovered volcanic rocks and went gecko hunting, spying five in total but deciding that there were insufficient grounds for turning them into BBQ. In any case, Little Miss Pamplemousse had bagged a strawberry calippo ice lolly and all traces of it must go before we got back.

The rest of the day was spent with a Hi-de-Hi!-esque series of pool competitions concocted by our nine year old grandson, Mr Pickle. It all kicked off when an American football was produced and two teams swiftly emerged to protect each end of the pool. Luckily, I used to play water polo, very useful having been assigned to the team in the deep end. Unfortunately my youthful body has evolved since 1970 and no amount of memory flashes from brain would persuade it to co-operate.
After that it was who can swim two lengths the fastest using a variety of techniques, then who can swim one, two then three lengths underwater and finally the how fast can you dive down and retrieve a 50 euro cent coin.

Garlic prawns, a plateful of grilled sardines and a chilled bottle of something red finished off the day and I managed to persuade a long term back injury to make an appearance as I chased after Mayhem down the sea front.

Have a great Tuesday if you can. Missing a train is only painful if you run after it!

5.8 this morning - happy with anything in the 5s at the moment though.
@dunelm you could write a book, your posts are so entertaining, I’m really getting the atmosphere of your wonderful sounding holiday. I loved the fact that all evidence of the strawberry lolly had to be hidden before returning to base camp but I don’t expect you fooled anyone, it’s sort of expected from grandads. Food sounds fab too.
@Krystyna23040 good luck with the retinopathy check today.
@Bildad and @poemagraphic I agree there sometimes seems no rhyme or reason for the readings. The thing that irritates me is how much I allow it to affect my mood for the day. Wish I could be a bit more zen and accepting of its vagaries.

6.8 at 8:50 did a lot of exercise yesterday so thought I could afford to start the Day with oatmeal and raisins and milk , but afterwards I fell into a mountain of delicious cherries

All in all a very fine day where both my daugther my mum and I spent 3-4 hours in the gym all muscles burning now...

5.4 yesterday
5.8 today
Off to Liverpool for 2 days with my Bessie girlfriend. We try somewhere different every year. Bit of quality time together. Love Liverpool. They have invested a lot of money into the city and it shows. I have a few things to do before I pick her up so must dash. Hope everyone had a good bank holiday weekend. Short week for the workers. Dont ya just love a bank holiday. Will catch up on thread later. Dashing. Happy Tuesday to all.

Morning...woke to a bright sunny day such a change from last night... at 10pm the heavens opened...we had driving rain...thunder & lightening thankfully I'd been on the Gin & Tonic so felt fairly relaxed...we switched the furniture round yesterday moved the big phat comfy chair into a corner...so I spent most of the evening on the sofa which rarely gets used...fell asleep until 3am then sloped off to bed...woke with an awful crick in my neck...can't turn my head without saying ****… woke to a 6.4.

ps Harry has taken advantage of my vulnerability rushed the kitchen & eaten all the cats food (again) I couldn't turn round quickly enough to stop him...the little stinker

Morning all. 5.5 from my meter today just on the outside edge of personal target zone. @dunelm the holiday sounds ideal and is reflected in well mannered fbg readings. @Krystyna23040 hope retinal scanning goes well and your results letter says all clear. Some members seem to feel the well being aspect of managing this condition does seem to have a considerable impact on bg levels. @HarrisonK your day sounds as though it should compliment your great start. @Freema, 3 generations at the gym sounds about perfect to me - what a great idea. I didn't have a bucket list but may start one now with that.

Morning All. 6.3 this morning no rhyme or reason as many of you are reporting higher than ought to be. Have a very busy day ahead, sorting out sons things back from Uni, loads of laundry, trip to supermarket to stock up for rest of week as I am having my first anti VEGF injection early tomo and will be hiding in the shadows for a couple of days.
@DJC3 hope you and your family will feel better as the days go by...are they able to continue with their holiday?
@dunelm your holiday reporting is beautifully written and a joy to read. Please keep having fun.
@gennepher sorry you’re having such lack of sleep and hope you can catch up a bit today. @Bubbsie hope your stiff neck improves, and it will, but is very annoying. Good old Harry...Churchill needs to sort that out and repay the compliment!
@Debandez have a lovely break with your friend..Prossecco anyone?
@HarrisonK have a great day and good reunions.
Have a good Tuesday. Stay well, stay safe.

My morning moan ... I’m cold ! I really don’t like being cold !

I think it’s about -13 this morning not really helped by a Surprise power cut..

But my current cycle of sore throat / cold/ not sleeping seems to have sorted itself out!

3.9 on the testery thingy this morning so all is well in the world.

My June spreadsheet is prepared so I’ve peaked early on kitchen day 8

Happy days peeps have a terrific Tuesday

11.1 at 5am

Disappointed with these higher readings I am getting in a morning. But I didn’t sleep
properly last night. I was waking up every half hour or so. I didn’t want a repetition of the herd of elephants trampling all over me, from the night before.

>^..^<

Hugs ... hope the numbers come down... reducing stress and good sleep help my numbers... had to make several changes to bedroom environment to help sleep better... glad I did it... good luck... patience and persistence!!!

Good old Harry...Churchill needs to sort that out and repay the compliment!
Churchill is above all that PM...he largely ignores Harry much to Harry's eternal disappointment...good luck for tomorrow's eye appointment...hoping you'll be back in good form ASAP with no ill effects

agree with the others @dunelm
deffo getting a feel for that holiday..can almost taste that strawberry Calippo..
(orange used to be my fav :bigtears:)
have fun in da hot sun...:D

and i suppose the MOOD V BG, makes sense.

i know when my GB's are lowering OR high.:bookworm:
that affects my mood..as does the stressing and anxiety about NOTHING at all...:banghead:
( now add in stressing that you'll stress about the numbers in the morning... )

Perfect combo for a BG Storm i'd say.
Throw in a bad nights sleep, as well..and it's a BG Tornado.:***:

Today FBG 6.6...:watching:..mmmhhh

tested after i had to run to work
(motorcycle...so no traffic stress, just a big cheesy grin at those stuck in the jams...Mmwwhhhaaahaha :D)

so was it THAT early start..?
Was it the vodka N tonic last night...?
The hefty meal early part of the evening, slowly spiking late on..?

My moneys on the sweetener*...usually hermesetas,
but got NONE :bigtears:
so using the kitchen stores Canderel...:sorry:

*probably not, but who wants to go straight to the 'good' stuff when banishing foods items..:hilarious:
** yes i'm aware Vodka is not a food item, but, please... don't take away the magic..:inpain:

...trip to supermarket to stock up for rest of week as I am having my first anti VEGF injection early tomo and will be hiding in the shadows for a couple of days.

Wishing you ALL the best and that tomorrow goes smoothly.
and the effects are as quick as possible to improve things for you.

How terribly sad DJC...a difficult decision to make but absolutely the right one...huge hugs for you all.

Thanks Bubbsie. He was a beautiful boy, but quite nervous, although he had calmed down a lot since they got him and was responding well to being treated with kindness and patience. Unfortunately though, she had no real choice in the end. 7018913f-23c5-48cb-9255-8acdaa65545d.jpg

.

No sadly they came home early as they were just too shocked and saddened to have fun.
Good luck with the laundry - my mum once found a bag of chips in my brother’s laundry when he came home from uni. When she remonstrated with him, his only response was ‘oh I wondered where they’d gone!’ Lol.
Not sure if Ive missed some earlier posts but what is VEGF?
