I did see that made me laugh those badges they've proposed are not even free...they cost £1.20 each and the minimum order is 100...it's nonsense isn't it
 
FBG 8.3 this morning (doesn't look as atrocious in British as it did on my American meter). The LC diet I'd planned for Feb-Apr got thrown off track by the pandemic (and it doesn't deserve the "corona" part of its name. What is the opposite of a crown?). To me it looks more like a peeled golf ball stuck all over with tees. Hideous thing.

Despite the high FBG I feel good this morning. Hard to accept that food that makes me feel good physically is doing bad things to my body that I would be blissfully ignorant of if I wasn't stabbing a finger each morning.

I used to hide the MasCat's thyroid pills in a bit of hamburger or other tasty meat and watch to see that she swallowed.

The other day I got an e-mail from Whole Foods inviting me to order groceries for delivery. I went straight to their site -- only to be told there were no delivery slots available.

Thank goodness I am able to walk to the local grocery store and do my own shopping. I try to counteract the negatives of being around other shoppers with the positives of some good exercise and a change of scene.
 

I seriously don't think Hillary could have managed this any better than Donald is doing. Whether or not she could have doesn't matter -- there is no way a Democrat would have been elected after 8 years of another Democrat in office. The pendulum always swings back, either way.
What people need to remember is that it is Congress that really runs the show. The President is the most public figure but he's no autocrat. It's just easier to blame one name than try to remember 500+.
 
Not really the thread for a discussion. Your knowledge of how US constitution works on the ground is bound to be superior to anything I learn from far away. I'm also very aware that I will never give the benefit of the doubt to a Republican or Conservative try as I may. Lincoln, Bush Snr and Disraeli at a push may be the exceptions.

I must keep up with the thread, it's taken me ages to read everything because I missed posting yesterday

Took the opportunity today and spent an hour mowing grass at mum's whilst mr gee took her to the nearest small town because she wanted her pension. I made a natty cloth mask for her using a pattern from the internet in case she wanted to use it but she said she would wind her scarf round her face
Mum hasn't really grasped some aspects of this, she insisted on telling me how few people there are in town If mr gee and I have to go do our shopping we try to get there for when they open at 08.00am whilst it's quiet so it's a bit odd having to go to the High St., just before lunchtime but that's the only time mum's part time post office counter is open so mr gee took her to the PO and then hand sanitised etc. both mum and the car

no 1 is done from a photo I took early last summer whilst walking above a nearby golf course, there was a field of rape seed growing by the course, such a glowing colour in the sun.

I guess getting out in the fresh air is good for you. I get the impression you dont encounter many at the grocery store. Is there ever a queue outside? What are your rules locally about being out, wearing masks, etc.
My farm shopping today had one big downer. They gave me a kilo of purple sprouting brocolli which is very woody and not to my taste so wont be used. That leaves me very short on green veg till my next supermarket C&C middle of the week. Next time I need to suggest alternatives. The brocolli up to now has been wonderful and I eat it virtually every day.

You do look after your mum so well. I rhink a lot of older folk dont get it. When we were out walking a few days ago we met a sweet old lady walking her dog who we passed a few friendly words with from the other side of the road. She said she couldnt bear it they were planning to extend lockdown for a few more weeks. We were thinking she must have a much more exciting life than us. But then we are homebirds.
 

I'm sorry about the downer. Can you return the broccoli and get your money back? I like green broccoli; I'd never heard of purple sprouting broccoli until people started posting about it on this thread.

My grocery store has designated each aisle one-way. But the arrows are small, on the floor, and I didn't even notice them until an announcement was made reminding us to follow them. I would think that with all the displays that block the aisles they could come up with more visible signs. They have no qualms about blocking the aisles with displays of wine, beer, and BOGO specials.

We have no rules here about masks. They are recommended, but since the people recommending them keep changing their minds as to design, materials, proper wearing, etc., I'm not bothering. It is normally illegal to wear a mask in public, and some of my neighbors are going around looking like Stars Wars monsters, with scarves over their hair down to their eyebrows and masks over their faces and mouths. You can't even tell who is who, and it would be very easy for a masked gang to enter a store and hold it up, because the cops would never be able to ID them.
 
I've just learned that my apartment manager has called in the National Guard to disinfect the public areas in our building. This despite the fact that we have NO cases of COVID-19.
They will be wearing HAZMAT suits and "fogging" the areas.
No concern for vulnerable elderly people, many of whom already have respiratory problems, e.g., asthma, COPD.
I called the one accessible member of staff about my concerns about the unknown chemicals, only to be told that nobody knows what the chemicals are.
I've been concerned ever since this panicdemic started that the government would try to bring in martial law, and now we will have the military coming into our building with chemicals.
I hope this is not Step 1 on the way to a total revoking of our CIVIL liberties, but when the military comes onto civilian territory with chemicals, then I get scared.
There's no way to escape it. In the past, oppressed peoples have emigrated from their homelands to other countries that offer more freedom.
But this is the only planet we have. Nowhere to run.
The worst thing about it is that apparently our management thinks that a onetime spray will be all it takes. Never mind that someone could enter the building the next day breathing out COVID germs.
People are losing their heads over this, and it is the most vulnerable who are suffering the effects of their insanity.

So we did it. Mrs Mc stood on the front drive and played Ode to Joy three times with harmonies. Not a soul appeared and we really were not that bad for such a rushed performance.

Here we be in back garden with our sign before we went out front.
 
Shame no one appeared but perhaps they heard from a socially responsible distance?
