Very strict near Dublin then
@PenguinMum
2km is 1.24 miles. Most of us would find it problematical getting to any available shop in that distance.
I would stay in self isolation for longer than government advises...
Initially the information was 4 months to self isolate for people over 70. Is that information still the same?
I don't have a problem with that because I enjoy being on my own.
As long as I can go and collect my meds once a month and do a top up shop, I am fine.
Someone was supposed to collect my meds this last Tuesday, a few days ago, from the local help group, and she neither got back to me or responded to my texts for me to find out what was happening. So I drove down to the my chemist, sat in the car, yelled my name (they are not letting any one in the chemists shop), and half hour later a couple of carrier bags came out and she put them on the table on the pavement. I was getting out of the car, but a member of the public picked them up and brought them over to my car and threw them on the back seat (they were the requisite 6 feet away). You are not allowed to buy anything from this chemists shop during this Coronavirus crisis. So no cotton wool for Popeye, but his head is healing now. Apart from the top of his head looking a huge bald patch. And there was abundant kitchen towels (and eggs) at the Polish shop at the back of the chemists. So I am stocked up on both now.
My internet friend who did the phoning and emailing to sort this 'help' for food and medicine for me is furious it didn't work out and wanted to try again. She thinks I shouldn't leave the house at all. I have said I am fine for doing this once a month. It also probably just keeps my car battery charged up as well.
An email from her this minute...she has finally accepted this situation and realises that the help organisation are probably completely overwhelmed in this district. Now hopefully she will stop nagging me. Thank goodness!!!
Take care everyone
Stay safe
