I am exactly the same at the moment. I am getting progressively lazier day by day.

We are currently living in a world with no vaccine, how anti-vaxxers can't see that it is plain bad beats me. It should be compulsory or they should be prepared to become the front line and prove their 'theory' works.

Had convo with theory nut nephew.
Vaccine Comes with microchip.. So he's not having it.

But they don't't have to make it compulsory.

YOU can't fly if you don't have it.
YOU can't get insurance if you don't have it
YOU can't conduct your profession if you don't have it.
YOUR kids can't attend , nurseries, School, college, uni
Etc etc etc

By a thousand cuts and ways, we will all buy into it.

Let's hope that chip can give directions...and a HUD for the eye, would be a real bonus.

If it can..I'm in.. Always liked the six million dollar man... Here's my last chance to be Lee majors

The problem there is that this medium of communicating is perfect for reinforcing and intensifying all the world views people hold and then some. This pandemic has massively intensified that. Anti vaxxers are but 1 example of that - (we have our own equivalent on here). As pressure to end the lockdown intensifies far worse views will surface and things are only likely to play into the hands of the most extreme. I suspect until the baby boomer generation and their children pass into history the immediate outlook isn't good. My grandchildren's generation offer hope.

Well at risk of offending some.

WE Watch everything China does.
So does the US.

we examine in minute detail almost every step they take.

Yet even though it was on TV, govts around the world seem taken aback when covid arrives in their shores..mmh

We had Hancock say in JANUARY we were fully prepared ..fully prepped ..Mmhh

So a tsunami of death is heading our way,

We KNEW most of the details of:.....
how it killed,
overwhelmed hospitals
Killed medics
And required a full lock down.

to have HALF a chance of simply SLOWING IT down, so we could grab our breathe and plan for wave, 2, 3 etc
Until vaccine or herd immunity., Reduces the death rate to something manageable.

So fully prepared I guess means we war gamed worst case scenarios, right ?

PPE around world needed asap.. JANUARY
Every one would be scrambling for it.. JANUARY

So we went out and tried to buy where ever we could...
Sure they noticed the scarcity and price rises


Possibly a good idea to have a second line at home making PPE, sourcing materials, Workng out ratios required distribution chains.. You know ALL THE thing a decent govt does when warned of an inbound disaster .

Did ours..?

JANUARY we were fully prepared.

Mid April we have HCP calling Burberry to see if they could order any PPE they might be making
As they don't have enough

Mid April, we hear UK has PPE supplies to last 3 weeks, then we're out
No supplies.. no PPE ..***

Mid April we have maclaren now beginning to make ventilators

I could go on....but

Did they know. ?.
They said they DID.. JANUARY

Did they do enough
Did they prep enough
Did they stop and think through all the potential issues.
PPE, food, distribution, effects on people of poor and confusing advice.
How too manage The expected shortages
And panic buying...
(NEVER seen a disaster movie where that did not happen)
But again I could go on...

But this isn't MY job
It WAS theirs

Did they succeed, in any governments primary role...?

Watching for danger, and protecting it's citizens and nation as best it can, using every possible resource to the fullest, looking at every angle to get the fullest advantage at every point possible

Did they ?

I can't in all Conscience go along with the nodding dogs, saying they're doing their best, it's a difficult situation indeed.
But they in there indifference and ineptitude
Have turned what was most definitely a CRISIS
Into the makings of a catastrophe.

Day after day another fault line appears
Day after day another "plan"
Day after day the same old question not being answered.

Am I alone in being sick to the back teeth of them All.

A great photo of two great friends.
 
My lunch today...using my spring onions cut from the base of previous shop bought spring onions and placed in water, in the kitchen window, to grow to their original height. Then I cut them, and they will grow again. Also I grew more celery from the base of previous shop bought celery, again it is only in water and you can see how tall it has grown. I cut a couple of stalks off.

The tin of tuna, beans and veg is from the Polish shop. It was delicious.

 
good afternoon all

sunny but with a very cold wind streaming across the firth here today We've just been out for our potter round the village with background orchestration of the sound of strimming going on all over the place, perhaps they're hoping the breeze will blow away the grass bits

As we were walking along one of people we often share greetings with as we're walking in opposite directions round the village passed on her bike and shouted across that she was going to leave a couple of cups of soup on our doorstep for us, (she's one of the people who has a basket saying 'take one' outside with crisps, bottles of fruit juice and sweeties to cheer people up ), it's sweet potato and coconut soup which will be something different for mr gee and mum to try very kind of her plus it's in disposable cups so they can be wiped down then emptied into a pan.

no 1 - trying to improve the perspective by putting a bit more in the foreground


and no 2 - a cautionary tale against relying on pre-mixed green, it just took over A lot of colours dry lighter in value, not this green (it's one of the Kuretake colours)

Nice to see you are experimenting, I have exactly the same trouble with greens they constantly displease me, premixed are the worst and even mixed seem too blue. I have taken to putting yellow on wet paper and whilst it wet adding a pre or self mixed green, sort of works but not always.

Like the effects today though so keep it up.
 
So here is the finished Hedgerow watercolour started yesterday, A4 in total about 90 minutes, last in this series. I have posted yesterday's as a reminder thumb print. I actually like yesterday's better it's now gone too dark.

I agree, pre mixed green doesn't always live to expectations.
