Looks like summer out there, but it's cold, just as yesterday was. Got a man coming soon to assess, estimate cist of work. And I think one of the local farmers,, who lived in this house years ago is going to come with his tractor and unblock the gate. At least that what I think he said. He has no English and my french has trouble keeping up with rapid fire speech.
Yesterday: Idea was to start clearing the mud from the barn, did have a go before and filled the barrow then realised I couldn't move it. So shovelling clay out of the barrow into bucket before I could start. Heavy tiring work, but once started on the barn, not as bad as expected, was able to clear a significant amount.
Sorted out the salad bed. Then back to barn clearing. Managed to clear far enough to get the mower out and my bike. Both are ok. Cleared a bit more, while moving some tools managed to drop something heavy, didn't move fast enough and it caught two toes. It's good thing nobody was listening. Back to my garden. Some plants are already begining to recover. While I was working, a cuckoo landed in a tree nearby.
Have never seen one so close, tried to get my video but it flew off before I could focus, do have 30 seconds of sound though.
Later on phone chat with Mum. My sister is ill and it seems likely she has the virus. Symptoms much as described by @maglil55 . My mother is seriously worried.
Can tell by her voice.

ive been shopping this morning and its the first time i have not at to queue this was at iceland and home bargins maybe because people have gone back to work but i was in and out got home delivery in iceland so bought stuff hubby normally gets whats too heavy for me ,i go the shops once a week keeping my distance and if anybody invades my space i politely ask them to move back a bit if that doesnt work maybe a whack with my hand bagI do agree with you it's a difficult moral dilemma that I have to make once a week, risk me, risk my kids, deliveries or click and collect would be good, maybe travel further afield as @HarryBeau suggests, easier now restrictions are slowly lifting. However we can't as a society live in fear for ever I think the rest of my life is going to be on a new level of being 'alert' as much as I hate the use of that phrase, social distancing, no unecassary cafe visits when out, more time spent in wilderness and open spaces, less in theatres, folk festivals, pubs, galleries and in Mrs MCs case museums. Performances to the public will also have to be reconsidered, not from our bands point of view but to discourage others gathering in large groups, not that our audiences were ever thousands. Socialising with families is probably one of the largest risk areas as our kids and grandchildren will meet many people in day to day life, but I am not prepared to lock myself away from them for ever, we will have to find ways of meeting, my sons already coming up with some good ideas. Life is precious and miraculous and too wonderful a gift to constantly be put on hold in my honest opinion we all have to find ways to live with the virus safely in society

4.6 yesterday and 4.3 this morning
missed posting yesterday because it got late whilst I was fiddling about trying out the manufacture of a third fabric mask pattern
I like the fitted ones but they're a close fit and mr gee's glasses steam up. the second type (3 pleats) he says are ok and comfy but the pattern I have seems too tall (chin to eyes distance). Pattern no 3 has one box pleat in it and he's liking the fit
Shopping day today, the weekly dose of stress and worry along with the Tea bags and cauliflower
Not too bad shopper numbers wise here in the windy North this morning with a mixture of masked and non-masked variants. Mr gee's latest snazzy checked mask seems to have performed ok
Shopping delivered to mum mostly according to her list although it appears that 'bread flour' has achieved 'mythical' status in our area, haven't seen any for ages. If I can get plain flour I'll add some of the vital wheat gluten I bought recently to it, that should bring it up to strength.

no 1 is a fairly disasterous rendition of a Keith Nash painting I saw on Pinterest, he's an artist from Norfolk, lots of abstract watery landscapes with dramatic skies. My struggle was (obviously) with water control, which has resulted in some spectacular sky cauliflowers

Thank you for the heads up.I have some masks on order not for everyday use but as I have regular clinic appointments shall use them then...not the blue surgical ones got some from Home Health UK FFP2 masks three for just under £12.00 pounds including 1st class postage.

I Like the sky and landscape, cauliflowers an all. I always have clean kitchen roll handy and dab up when things start to get too wet, light to dark usually stops it. But water on dark area always cauliflowers, dark needs to be the final action, I think you got away with it in this painting. Hawthorn is well captured and yes ours is fully out long sways of white flowers the smell I think always smells like cows, not pleasant.good morning all

Decided to go to Lidl this morning as there are just some things I could not get with click and collect plus I was missing my Lidl Greek yoghurt. Pleased to say it was quite a pleasant experience. Got there on 08:00 and there were probably less than a dozen people in the shop and for the most part were following social distancing guidelines. The majority of shoppers, including myself were wearing masks. Got some eggs and Yoghurt plus far too many other provisions considering I had picked up a click and collect just last week. How I can spend £87.00 plus when I didn't think I needed much beats me.
Very expressive sketch. Gives a good indication of the land and vegetation.Not in the mood to work on a full size painting and so another quick sketch A4 20 minutes. Sherbrooke Valley at the moment it's a patchwork of grasses, heather and ferns, self setting Silver Birch trees and tracks that flow over the undulating Heath.
I have something more dramatic in mind but not yet sure how to achieve it, so lots of sketches needed before I start.

Also my new watercolour paper arrives, I could not get my usual Arches paper so went for Canson Cotton but wow the surface is very rough, I have no idea how it will feel or effects it will give so next painting could be interesting I have never painted on such rough paper, 100% cotton like Arches paper. Sample here with Half Penny for perspective.
