We are getting many more of these Speckled Woods in our garden than previous years. This year seems to have been a good year for many species. An herald of climate change in the Northlands!

good evening all
4.7 yesterday and 4.6 this morning
just back inside from watering stuff in pots and recently transplanted stuff out in the garden
shopping day yesterday and 'big shed' charity day today. We actually got to eat our dinner out this evening, very much social distanced but still enjoyableOnly half as many tables as there used to be in the cafe and mask wearing taken seriously by staff and patrons alike (except when eating obviously, straining soup through the mask would be a messy business )
I'll have to catch up on reading the thread in stages I think
Hope your day is treating you well
art bit -
self explanatory really - inktense with a touch of watercolour.

Managed to finish my root Woodland painting, A4 Watercolour, 2 hours lots of waiting around for layers of paint to dry. This is typical of Cannock Chase. Finished BUT I might do some more work on the roots at some point to darken some areas with a purplish wash ...

Brilliant, you are very good at these plant drawings. The light, shape and depth you have created is wonderfully seen and drawn.art bit -
Thank you. I have now added a purple wash in bottom right hand corner so the closest roots take a backwards step into the shadow, worked well thank goodness, it would have been easy to have destroyed the whole painting.
