Oh dear - you are so right about getting out and about and eating well - I had to call into our GP surgery yesterday - I am on the Practice Patient Group - our surgery has taken on more nurse practitioners this year and a load of tech - the practice manager tells me that the practice has carried out record numbers of consultations - mainly triaged through phone calls and then for those who can, live video calls. We also managed to get all our flu jabs sorted in only two Saturday sessions with a lot of pre planning, appointment setting and shepherding folk.6.8
Trying day yesterday. Waited for ages to get through to surgery and finally GP called back. He was v. happy (especially as he told me that the missing results I have included a whopping rise up of hbA1c to 118 in Feb 2019 - check addition to sig)
He is still insisting I need to be on 4 metformin and a bumped up mg of Jardiance so I gently pushed back asking why if I have seen results on 2-3 Metformin and 1 jardiance. That being said looking at Swipey results for some reason neither of us can fathom seeing as I take a metformin when I go to bed, my sugars jump up again around midnight/1am. They have already done their post-prandial spikes so reluctantly I have agreed to stay at 3 metformin and 1 jardiance but I see absolutely NO reason other than the rather vague 'oh it's good for cardiovascular health'... uh huh - so is the better eating and the regular exercise I am able to do without travelling or work at the moment. Anyway - he accepted this so... perhaps a mini result.
The rest of the day had a few challenges.
Went to the post office and queued for half an hour and the old biddy (who I swear is the living embodiment of my departed granny on mum's side) gave me a disapproving stare as my debit card was declined twice. Paid on a credit card, then waited on hold for 35mins with the bank who decided my weekly withdrawal of £70 of cash for the week was now suspicious (after... a year???).
By the time I got to the self-assessment, the accountancy system was playing up but they had simplified the questionnaire, although I still had to call to check on the property section, and remarkably I was able to pay (with newly unblocked debit card) and that is now all underway. I didn't have the stamina to do expenses and bank reconciliation - so that is going to be today's task.
Oh, and I put the little tree up. Lights in the window later today. OK two tasks for today then.
@Alien Aspie - I was picked up once by describing myself as 'coloured' and was told 'You are either Black (which I am not) or Asian (which I don't consider because Mauritians are not Indian or Pakistani)... I then get 'educated' that probably 4-5 generations ago my family were from India so I must be Indian. No. I have three generations in Mauritius. I identify with Creole/French ... and lots of rum. So now whenever people nitpick I tell them my parents came from the cultural melting pot that is Mauritius and THAT is the heritage I identify with. Lord I didn't even like curry for the longest time! So much was my dislike of any spicy food, my parents wondered if they picked up the wrong child from the maternity ward!
@dunelm @Muddy Cyclist @gennepher - great pics and hugs @gennepher for yesterday
@SilverK - makes me appreciate my surgery which is a decent little community practice I partnership with an amazing pharmacist.
Swipey runs out imminently and I am waiting for cave-dweller to go to work and then I will get up, do the spin bike session and get on about the day.

Yeah... it is either that or bumping into some random Mauritian nurse at the hospital and they come at me with a volley of Creole! My Creole gets progressively more fluent, the more rum I drink! My mum is half Mauritian Creole but yeah we get this a lot, even the NHS doesn't know how to deal with Creoles, they can only deal with mixed people if you are only a mixture of 2 ethnicities, whereas most Creoles are more than that.
Thank you very much @dunelmHugs and winners - fighting the glum feeling and overcoming - we don’t have a bath either - I sometimes wonder why we decided on a big walk in shower. Never mind. A fine paining of that very distinct mountain.
Thanks @ianpspurs@gennepher - decrepit? Many challenges with which you deal admirably and come out on top even if there is a cost in terms of needing recovery.
A beautiful card @dunelmGood Morning everyone, the sun is burning off the gloom here in the dark and dangerous north.
The wonder wheel of leftover steak and the last of the Ceps came in at 4.6 this am
I am expecting a parcel today - two bottles of scotch in order to make the tally up to 12 (although current 10 are but single tots). Never mind the other stuff - these are not the whisky’s you are looking for.
Joe Green was on last night - The Force of Destiny so had to dig out my Yves Montand hat, drink Stella Artois and contemplate the planting of carnations.
Our youngest grandchild has just arrived so we will be off to the park in a while to fatten our chosen ducks up - I wanted a goose but Mrs Miggins thinks that they may scarper before too long.
Christmas card - we have sent out only a few this year - todays painting is my Christmas card for everyone else. I had a piece of red rice paper (8” x 4”) flecked with gold so it came in handy - we will be donating to our local food bank instead of buying more cards and stamps. Hope everyone has a pleasant day. I must finish my koffy and then at some point today cause panic buying of koffy in the supermarket (thanks for the tip @Muddy Cyclist ).

Thank you @Muddy CyclistHug for feeling the way you do. However winner for battling on and overcoming. Winner also for producing the Majestic Tryfan which does not need detail, recognisable and mighty fine as it is.
Thank you very much @dunelm
I do miss my baths...
Sadly, we both know there are many other ways to live which is why it is incumbent upon me to point out how admirable your philosophy is.Thanks @ianpspurs
But there is no other way to live, is there?
I admit that I'd occasionally book a hotel room so I could lounge in the bath with epsom salts.
Hasn't been an option this year though.
Don't judge me

Looks lovely its looks like my parquet floor should but its weather beaten and the original flooring I haven't got round to fixing it up ...it's on my never ending list of DIY jobsI have been a bit busy with floor fitter and sorting house so no art, I will catch up over the weekend, promise.
Floor now finished, took a day longer because fitter sliced the palm of his hand yesterday with knife. Brave lad, lots of blood, should have had stitches but he glued and gaffer taped it together, slowed him down though. Still all done now pictures below...
