Took the guys on the flight deck their coffees and managed to catch a 747 freighter underneath us powering on her way to Hong Kong I believe. The joys of non-commercial travel.
Hope all's well with all. I'll run through the postings in a mo! View attachment 48487View attachment 48489
Just checking emails at 43000 feet.
The wonders of satellite technology!
Hope all well. The plane is amazing - if you like orange - it's like a super upmarket version of EasyJet...View attachment 48491
Well @ianpspursI'll ask the dumb non artist question. What does great depth mean in this context please?
Sad to leave...but great to be on our way...now estimating 7 hours and 44 minutes ...View attachment 48492View attachment 48493View attachment 48494View attachment 48495View attachment 48496View attachment 48497View attachment 48498
Thank you for taking the time to explain to me. They made me "do" art at school and history of art (and science) to supplement my A levels. I learned nothing from any of that except how much I preferred sport and "pure" history.Well @ianpspurs
The best I can explain is that some paintings look flat, that is things don't look behind each other, or in front of each other even though a painting by its very nature is a flat object (usually).
This painting of @dunelm 's has the detail of the rocks in the foreground, the middle distance is the green trees and they are receding behind the rocks in the foreground. The mountains behind them look in the distance, and the pink ones look in the far distance.
So, the painting has great depth.
It's best I can explain it!
I imagine you hated art after that, and could probably see no point in it @ianpspursThank you for taking the time to explain to me. When I reminded them about my diabetes they were horrified. What a lovely thought for tomorrow nevertheless by the crew. Gobsmacked. So, sharing it between the 5 of them with their coffee and me sipping a glass of fizzy wine instead...not quite pub opening hours in normal times unless it's a Wetherspoons of course...so justification in my head has occurred
Wan has emailed me and said "Haste ye Back". Only a few hours later... thousands of miles away heading for home. Still catching time...less than 6 hours from landing. We'll make UK landfall over Norfolk and descend cross country to deepest Hampshire from there.

Not hate but very sceptical of those art critics who tell me there are all sorts of hidden meanings which I just don't see however hard I try. Second only to wine connoisseurs and food critics who invent tastes and smells which just aren't there. Alternative truths long before Kellyanne Conway and co.I imagine you hated art after that, and could probably see no point in it @ianpspurs
Like the sand works, but never GET the idea of taking so much effort for something so transient.
guess that's why I'm not an artist.
I don't get those art critics either @ianpspurs I would run a mile...Not hate but very sceptical of those art critics who tell me there are all sorts of hidden meanings which I just don't see however hard I try. I have never seen so many roadworks...breeding like rabbits @jjraakHi all
a pleasing few days.
clinging on at 6 rivers falls
6.9. last night, a full day doing DiY etc, so cream crackered,
daughter brought round bargain bucket for her and mum..
mum not hungry, so …
Life everywhere when i was out and about,
so one tip, now we are once again 'open' for business so to speak.
be conscious of other road users.
Bikers have a season, usually after winter, but for the poseur crowd that means summer only ..Both days of it
so the unspoken rile is get used to it again, refresh you skills.
before committing to those corners and binning it
Seemed pretty clear after others days trips,
Car drivers have had a similar hiatus, and many seem to have just jumped straight back in and didn't bother to acclimatise and refresh their 'Skill set' as they returned to the road.
AND cyclist have multiplied exponentially
And OMG..the ROADWORKS...
it's like a scene from the battle of the bulge with tank traps and barricades everywhere to slow the enemy advance.
Other then that, all normal..
Enjoy, and as Nike say JDI
we're a long time dead.
Sand art is often a race against time, and tide @jjraak
It's a feeling of impermanence. Creating for the sake of creation. The actualisation is its own reward, using your abilities to achieve everything you can within the confines of the medium you have chosen.
Didn't you make sandcastles as a child? Did you finish it before the tide came in and swept it away? A tiny child might cry as it was swept away. But when you are older, then motivation comes in, you make a bigger and better one before the next tide steals it away...
Thank you @Muddy Cyclist. Yes, Beech walking is a key skill when Nanook is skirting the top of Hudson Bay in search of Snarks.

yep..and been traumatised by it ever since.
hence the WHY
Good point , well made.
Glad to hear it. As far as food goes, Mary Berry (what is she all about?) trying to tell me fruit tastes really fruity when she has piled about a KG of sugar in it is ridiculous.I don't get those art critics either @ianpspurs I would run a mile...
