Thanks @dunelmAh well - these things happen and hopefully a happy outcome
This painting is beautiful @dunelmGood morning everyone on a nice damp November morning here in the dark and dangerous north.
The wonder wheel of the last slice of pork belly with some home made cauliflower colcannon squeaked over the line at 5.4 this am.
Beautiful day yesterday, we were on the beach by 9 and hardly anyone else about. The piles of washed up crabs and lobsters had disappeared, washed away by the outgoing tide. Hope that is the case everywhere else on the NE coast. Wandered down to a cafe and had a quite early breakfast (well, for us it was). Opticians to get specs tightened up and then back down the beach and home. Bin day today. What joy, and so early in the morning. There is an exhibition on at the British Museum: a collection of rare drawings by Katsushika Hokusai – one of Japan's most celebrated artists, best known for his iconic print, Under the Wave off Kanagawa. I am going to see if we can get tickets to see it when we are down in Mordor for the Festival of Remembrance.
Art bit today - it’s heading towards Remembrance Sunday, and a line from John McCrae. Have a splendid Mittwoch. Time for a koffy (after I put out the bins).

5.1 this morning. Really cold and frosty. .My new half price jacket was really warm and toasty.
Journey home was better as I had the sat nav on ready the road closure. Only a 10 minute detour instead of a 20 minute detour along single track roads.
Well that turned out well and a smashing bit of bamboo as well (got the word well at each end of that sentence, well, well). It took me all of two seconds to give up on the wild choppy seas in this painting in my sketchbook today.
And so, made a few mountains, some tree lined hills, and popped in some bamboo from my garden, which is threatening to take over and reach new heights...
And here is my failed choppy seas painting...
I need to get on with the day, so best this painting out of the way...
Didn't have time to hide Popeye in the landscape, so did a quick text pic in Snapseed on him...

Thank you @gennepherThis painting is beautiful @dunelm
It is emotionally perfect...
Sounds like you had a good day yesterday...
I will look online for that Hokusai exhibition...
Now, I need to be gone....
I could have used dreary or lackluster but wanted to encourage the day towards dryness - it seems to have worked. Always be compassionate towards seemingly dreary days. Diwali - big day will be tomorrow (day 3). I can just about remember my great grandmother celebrating Diwali - her grandparents were Sindhis which in those days before partition was in The Punjab. My generation has more Irish and Saxon blood moving around. Eating whitebate while drinking Asam tea and wearing a rugby shirt - what more can a bloke ask for.Happy Diwali or Deepavali, enjoy your 4 or 5 days feasting. One of the Great Religions Festivals of Light. I need to post shorter, more upbeat efforts. Renderedultra hardimpossible by @dunelm gaslighting me with "nice damp November morning." How the chuff do you contort damp and November into nice, how?? What the hell scale do you use to arrive there???Thank you for sharing your artwork, enjoy London (when a man resorts to Mordor? - unusually lazy choice of word for a man of many words, usually well chosen). (No 1 son won't be working at the F O R now he will be our Stanstead taxi, interesting logistical exercise organising that event.) @gennepher take your time with "the creative" it is your gift to us, all unworthy as I at least am. I'm expecting a kg of Assam leaf tea, .5 kg Whitebate and a cheap as chips rugby shirt today Oh, I need to ask my bat maker to make one with a lower middle - I'll explain another day. I also need to be less attracted to fairgrounds. Eddi is/was rather comely though. (Song choice in no way aimed at JKP , btw - I'm outrageously blessed there.) Oh, congratulations Atlanta Braves, World Series Baseball winners. The stays, remember the stays.
Fair enough. To err is human and all that. As for the "what more....," to do it in Cambridge, Sarlat-la-Canéda, Paphos or some small town in New England which never left the Happy days Era - especially in the Fall.I could have used dreary or lackluster but wanted to encourage the day towards dryness - it seems to have worked. You sound demod happy, Ian!?Fair enough. To err is human and all that. As for the "what more....," to do it in Cambridge, Sarlat-la-Canéda, Paphos or some small town in New England which never left the Happy days Era - especially in the Fall.
It is an absurd outrage to even infer I may be happy. I've never been so insulted. I demand satisfaction, sir. Cucumbers at dawn. Duel to the RaitaYou sound demob happy, Ian!?

Today the better half told me to get my paints out in the evenings. Come to think of it, it may be a better way of relaxation.Hi @ianpspurs
Thanks, but I knew I would be out all day, and if I didn't finish it however it was going to be finished, then I would fall behind on my next painting for tomorrow.
If I had been at home all day, then I would have had the luxury of doing it bit by bit towards my original intention of stormy seas...
I agree with your better half @lindisfelToday the better half told me to get my paints out in the evenings. Come to think of it, it may be a better way of relaxation.
