What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Wellness - just the latest snake oil in the history of snake oil sales and this time Gwyneth is making a bomb. Must collect all the sweat from my brow, mix it with Scotch Mist and bottle it as the latest thing in turning on your “living the dream” mode. Download the app now, watch the video and buy the book.

And yet ..... a cursory glance at many of the threads here, the "exotic" diets and routines posters swear by, the list of supplements many advocate. Maybe not the best demographic to be starting stone throwing contests inside a glass house. Them's my onions anyhow.

You may be right and I must remember to pack my vit C fizzy tablets to wash down my tramadol and ibuprofen. Vit C fizzy tablets are a must have protection against who knows what and have to be taken before before 8am while humming the tune “bring me sunshine”.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all circus clowns.
Bloods yesterday were 5.3 and this morning were 6.2.
Was a trifle occupied yesterday and today is not going to be much different, such are the joys of being retired .

Hi. I did double check the DD thing - I was lucky enough to be given a lifelong free membership when they spent time filming me a few years ago, so I can see the paid content! Funnily enough some of the filming was along the Regent’s canal.

Got a decent couple of walks in a couple of weekends ago while away in the West Midlands. They’re just a bit shorter and slower these days: I’m becoming an expert on public transport links to waterways. Could be a guide book in there somewhere.

Similar wishes to you with regards to your own recovery. It doesn’t come naturally to me, but patience is the name of the game.

Morning

No testing this morning.
Cat sitting and left meter behind .

An interesting day yesterday .

Stress.....have it for breakfast , me

Recent issue re accident.
Go see hospital doctors
Leg not healing properly
I get sent off for scans
Idea I get is I come back see doc after to discuss

Had scan.
Then awaited appointment.
Called after a week to check

Oh my
It's my job to call when scan has been done and then book an appointment to discuss
Pity no one mentioned it to me at the time

Another few weeks stressed over the damage I'm doing moving around on a 6 month old broken leg

And ...car insurance out.
Ok..online is the usual...let's go

My provider, despite govt promises are still treating me as a mug, as they all do , sadly

Each year same thing, they send a rise, I check online..(this year's much bigger )

It's always cheaper.. I cal them up, say I found it cheaper,. They ask "who with" I tell them "you ' then a get a better quote

Anyway, yesterday they were cheaper again online . But got beaten by 4 others

We barely use the car .so cheap & cheerful will do.

Two sites Thursday night 10pm won't let me buy
Tech difficulties..ok

I'll call then Friday morning 9am

Call, but get. "oh we're having difficulties, can we call you back?..yeah sure "..I explain site was down last night so wonder why it's not up & running done 13 hours later ?.(.a bad sign )

In meantime call AA .
A little more but cheaper breakdown & I'm thinking better coverage

Slight issue, can we call you back .
Sure, whatever.

True to word called back, all sorted .

Other two firms must still be having technical difficulties
..still waiting for their call back almost 24 hours later
GoSkippy....gone Skippy

Confidence boosting, not .
God moves in mysterious ways to bring us to better choices

And Ubiquitous cat pic .

Best seen as a pack
Little loves have just seen something edible land on the conservatory roof ..

BRILLIANT stuff on the walks .
Used to cycle around greenford using the grand Union canal ...very peaceful & engaging.

Have a snap from the viaduct overlooking the A40 near the ace cafe, somewhere .

I remember seeing some of those diet doctor Clips, marvellous, nice of them to give the full monty too

Haha..deffo a guide book.

Sure with your knowledge a YouTube/tiktok/insta account would be a good watch for those interested ?

And Good to see it takes a lot to stop you.
Mind you your determination did shine through from the very first posts I read of yours

But very sensibly driven.

Patients being patient...
It'll never catch on..

Best wishes progress continues apace

Saturday

Nothing much to report yesterday from my garden. All the usual cat diners. The birds were a bit more secretive, but were noisy in the leafy bushes and trees. I had a lot of little things to do in the bungalow, and it was too hot to do them. I did however go outside when it was cooler early evening and sorted some of the fairies and mystical things in my garden, or rather it was finding them in the long grass and undergrowth...

J bought me most of them...

Midnight sat on the swing all day. The sun disappeared this morning, but it was still 24 C according to my garden thermometer in the shade. A bit of a wind had got up and so I have my bedroom door open into the garden.

I was trying to write some postcards, but I kept falling asleep with the heat. I hadn't slept properly the night before either. And now I am turning into that batty old lady who writes spidery handwriting. I always vowed I would never be one of those...

But life has other ideas...

I have actually started printing out the addresses, just to make sure the postcards get to their recipients...

Creative today is one of the fairies I unearthed. I think she was a little cross at being buried for so long, but she did offer me a bunch of red roses...

Coffee time!

Oh dear @jjraak
I think we have to assume in this day and age, that you have to chase up everything...

In meantime call AA .

Good for the AA. Should be more reliable than the others...

Sounds like a poignant & reflective day @gennepher

Nicely paced after the more hectic days of late
Thanks @jjraak
It was a slower paced day...

That heat does seem to slow things down, Interesting fairy, she looks quite old.

Good morning everyone from another bright and shiny start here in the dark and dangerous north. Packed. Just need to put the cases in the car and then off. Folkestone tonight and then through the tunnel in the morning and then pick up the signs to Bordeaux. Not through Paris though, heading for Rouen and Le Mans. Might be off the air for a few days.
Art bit - finished Wireless Ridge. Have a wonderful weekend if you can. Must dash, koffy to sort out.

Great finished painting. The sky is very effective @dunelm

Enjoy your travels

5.7 this morning. Course was so interesting. Was very tired afterwards as I really had to concentrate so as not to miss any informative. Have got pages of notes. Very puzzling how using your brain can make you so tired.

Good morning from a breezy and unique area of the Exotic East. Warm (ish) enough for no socks but I could do with a summer weight top. I re-hydrated yesterday, enjoyed the England CC fightback and the salmon salad was sublime - thanks be to God and JKP. More cricket watching and hydrating today. Still a little sore from Wednesday and JKP is "protective." @dunelm Wireless Ridge looks wonderful, thanks for sharing. Have a safe journey the route sounds excellent. Will you be going into Bordeaux? Avoid Paris eh? We once went down to Sarlat very early after I had a double dose of anaesthetic and had been released late the night before - <3 hrs before dash to the Ferry. JKP was on her 2nd lap of the Périph before I awoke and navigated her off. Three fractious children must have made life hideous for her. @gennepher remarkable creative today. That fairy looks a tad demonic for me but thanks. @jjraak hug for the insurance hassle. JKP was an insurance broker so I let her find the deals on our wheels. Have a great day folks just not too great if you are a New Zealand cricketer.
