Morning team D.

Bad morning

Laurens best friend popped over two weeks ago to celebrate her daughter's birthday at flat she shares with our Steph.

In attendance bff & her mum, daughter & boyfriend & our Steph

Lauren bailed for sensible reasons that a friend at work had been around someone with covid, so didn't want to pass on to bff elderly mum.

Last week everyone at that meeting tested positive...and yesterday our Steph did too.

Lauren feeling rough last few days ..surely just a cold < prays >

Nope, tested positive this morning

Rough, bad cold rather then fluey..runny nose, sneezing, sore throat...but no headache .

A few of the more commons signs of this wave according to Zoe.

Be careful folks..this wave is virulent.

Good morning everyone on another damp start here in the dark and dangerous north. Today is induction day for my back pain course which begins on Monday. But first, down to the pharmacy to collect some mind expanding drugs. Do you know that you can get footwear on Amazon that you can try before you buy? Had a pair delivered yesterday and have seven days to decide if I want to keep them, or not. I shall but I will use all seven days procrastinating. Art bit - more texture added. Already started the “colouring in” so that should be finished tomorrow. Have a fabulous Friday if you can. I shall slurp my koffy and then get off to the pharmacy.

Oh dear - there seems to be lots of it around so hope that it’s not really nasty for you all.

Electrician here again today. Yesterday he disccovered a fault on the supply line. So we have to phone and ask Enedis to send engineers out. Could be on hold for ages...
Forgot to post so now adding update. Phone call made, reasonable wait about ten mins. Enedis need to speak to electrician, luckily he is still here. Engineers will be sent today. Result. They arrived about two hours later. Fixed the fault. All good.
Electrician gets call from wife who is unwell to say daughter also unwell for last two days now has a rash. Child might have scarlet fever. So urgent need for antibiotics. Mother will have to take her to A&E because they haven't been able to register with a doctor, same problem as with dentists. Shortage of GPs. Of course we are now possibly in line for infection as her father has been working in our house for two days. Friday French lesson with friends has been cancelled. We have decided to stay home this weekend.
Meanwhile I might have managed to get help with the bountiful harvest of cider apples. We have already taken two trailer loads to the tip. I have picked up another trailerful of windfalls in only four days. The trees are still heavily laden with fruit. I have always thought taking the apples to the tip is such a waste, but I still don't have french, or confidence enough to try selling them to the local cooperative. However the farmer who lived in this house as a child has always been friendly and accepts my stumbling attempts at communication with obvious goodwill. I asked him if he can use the apples. Was hoping he would harvest them himself but instead he has supplied me with a crotchet hook. It's a piece of steel pipe 10m long. Curved at one end and warped from long use. Very heavy and cumbersome. I am also using a hoe to pull down any apples within reach.
He has explained what he is going to do several times, obviously aware that I don't quite understand the deal we have made.
Kiki continues to enchant, less endearing is her tendency to make puddles. Often right next to the litter tray. The need for constant vigilance is tiring.

Edit. The crotchet is about 5 metre long. Not 10. With me at full stretch it will reach well above the guttering, but not right to the uppermost apples.

I do hope Lauren recovers quickly. I agree, this wave is virulent.

Hugs for your day @Annb
Change of plan. Digestive system playing games again. I have taken some Loperamide but so far, not so good. I've just phoned my "lift" to call it off. Have to keep the fluids topped up, so more tea. Was going to have some black coffee, but I think that might make things worse. And that's shot the plans for food meantime as well. BG down to 12.1 but I daresay more tea will shove it back up.

A mixed bag, like windfalls. Good idea staying in this weekend but hope that all is OK for you. Careful with your shoulders wielding that crotchet hook.

I hope you don't catch anything from the child. And all is well.
I wonder what you have agreed to with the farmer about the apples @SlimLizzy

If I read it right, those T1's using CGM refer to a 'time in range'

And not knowing your full days fbg, you certainly are in range for some of it ...& Could be for a LOT of it.

Had seen posts referring to FREE TRIALS of CGM...
Wonder if you've tried one or mentioned possibility to your doctor or team ?
I use a Libre 2 device to track my BG and, for a while I thought I was making progress but recently I don't think I am. I can see that my BG is usually pretty low first thing - around 3 - 4 am. Often well within range. But I get up, move around, have some pills (not always but more often these days) and some tea and up it goes to the 12/13 mark. If I have a non carb breakfast it might drop a bit after taking insulin, even towards the upper range level (7.5 or thereabouts) but if I have some carbs, up it goes to about 11 or 12. Around the middle of the day is when my readings are highest. I don't usually eat lunch, trying to stick to no more than 2 meals a day. Afternoons/evenings usually, but not always, gives me something around 9 or 10. That depends on what I eat as my 2nd meal. Often it shoots up to 15 to 17 or 18+ sometimes. Then I usually take a correction dose of insulin and BG drops during the night to give me a low reading in the early hours.

So I can see the pattern, but don't know what to do about it. Diabetic nurse thinks it's all OK but I disagree. You are quite right though - about half of the time I am in the target range:

I have bought shoes and slippers from Amazon and they haven't fitted but I never seem to get around to sending them back so I end up sending them to a charity shop. I currently hav e a pair of slippers still in their box which has been sitting around waiting for me to send them somewhere for months. Hate to think how much money I have wasted this way. No excuse for it - my son is our postman and he could take them for me, but everything becomes so difficult - having to download and print a return label, pack it all up securely and hand it over - doesn't sound so much, but I don't have a printer. Neil does, but organising sending stuff to the printer isn't straightforward. Could have bought my own printer with what I have wasted but then, where would I put it?

But Amazon are very good about things being returned and provide a very useful and valuable service.

Hope your digestive system settles down very soon. Hope it is not too uncomfortable.

Not too uncomfortable, just inconvenient if sitting in church or by the graveside or going anywhere for that matter. Anyway another dose of Loperamide seems to have done the trick. Then I decided to have just some of the broth from the soup I'd made, so no fibre and it has remained where I put it, so I may repeat the experiment in a while. Have to be careful though - I've been avoiding much in the way of vegetables for this very reason. Only eating onion (low fibre but a bit high on the sugar) and mushrooms - also not fibrous. I have had some spinach, of course, but that has never seriously affected me for some reason. Maybe I'll have to watch out for that in future. Have to rely more on meat but may need some sort of supplement to get the vitamins and minerals that I need. I have some B12, C and D supplements - all separate but it's a bit of a bind taking the 3 different things on top of all my pills and I often forget so perhaps I should have a look for an all-in-one supplement. I'll ask Neil what he takes to support his very restricted diet.
