What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.9 this morning nearly the same temperature outside which was 5.3. Surprised at the 5.9 this morning, I had a terrible night of more times awake than asleep and now I feel shattered. Day off so not sure if I am going for a work out, finding it really difficult to get motivated so might leave it till tomorrow.
 
Hope your grandchildren recover quickly. I agree with what you say about our NHS.

Sounds like a day for being in Goblin mode.

Em was late arriving this morning, looking like a disaster survivor. She'd dressed herself at home having selected her clothes for the day (I guess everything was even more stressful than usual today). She'd selected a polo shirt that was too small, trousers that were too small with holes in the knees, and a hooded sweatshirt, not a uniform one, but the school isn't too fussy about having a logo on everything as long as the colour is right. Her hair was uncombed. The only thing she'd got right was socks and shoes and even then she'd one sock on inside out. She'd dressed and got her coat on, with her hood up, so nobody noticed, in the rush.

I sorted her out as well as I could, but didn't have a spare pair of trousers for her, so she had to go with the ones she had. I'd only just put spare clothes of hers from my washing in a bag and sent them home with her yesterday. She couldn't see a problem, of course.

Anyway, she started out wanting a bacon sandwich and ate half of it before deciding that she would have preferred a sausage sandwich. She only ate half of that as well and asked me to keep the 2nd half for when she comes in the afternoon. I finished off the 2nd half of her bacon sandwich for my breakfast.
How are your grandchildren, Ian. I hope they aren't feeling too bad. Sometimes scarlet fever can feel pretty awful but other times it seems to be hardly anything. I hope theirs is minor and that they recover soon.
 
Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who feel the cold, but not etc,etc, etc. Enough said on those subjects.

Today a though provoking 4.9 on that meter. Insulin dosage calculated and taken along with breakfast, tea and koffy. 50 minutes plinky plonky completed, now I need a nap.

Here in Tilehurst Towers we both will be descending on the dentists like a plague, just routine check ups, but some how we always cause confusion, merriment, much tutting with a shaking of heads and giggles from the staff, ah that reminds me must do a covid test.

If I’m lucky I might get some more mulching / composting done, yes the pruning was severe and our green garden waste bin only holds so mulch ( hehehehe).

@gennepher your creations / paintings remind of Turners work and @dunelm’s of castle ruins. Both please continue posting your creations.

Well time is running away and me, me’s and myself have other fish to slow cook.

All the very best to your grandchildren as well as any other children who get infected. Hopefully antibiotics will do the trick but a good clean up might be in order and do watch out for impetigo. Take care.
 
Good morning everyone from a very wet driving rain sort of day here in the dark and dangerous north - hope it doesn’t freeze, that would be a dizaaaaaster dahrling. Sorry I have not been able to catch up much lately. Life eh! Such a fleeting thing. Anyway, art bit - colour added. Wonder if I should put the heating on? The following has been edited from yesterday afternoon's draft in order to make me appear a (vaguely) nicer, kinder little boy since I would rather be on the nice list. Good morning from a cold and very esoteric enclave of The East on the Feast of St Nicholas. Three grandchildren now on antibiotics (see attached - who knew?), thanks be to God working through the NHS funded by the kindness of strangers. Two of them here in Suffolk couldn’t have their prescription filled in a town of 10k souls so dad had to travel to Newmarket. The little chap in Cambs - no problem. Hard to say definitively who broke the country ( I do strongly suspect though) but this is a mess. No amount of Boosterism or claiming it is all Putin’s fault will wash any more. Meanwhile, LC food in cold weather doesn’t morph into anything the most silver tongued orator could persuade me to utter that ridiculous yum nonsense or its absurd cousin lush. Today would be a very good time for my MP to knock on my door for a Matt Chat. I’ll feed him some dishes far worse than any he had in the jungle. Grumpy? In your case very much the road invariably not taken. @dogslife back under the snug duvet sounds good. @Annb torn trousers are very on point. I feel bad about my comments on food choices so sorry. We have made the dumpling mix but baked in the air fryer as one big slab. @alf_Josiah best wishes to all involved in the dental caper. @dunelm wonderful art brought to a fitting triumph with colour added. Thorough cleaning? (This) One does wonder about the link twixt the surge in Strep A and 12 years of down, down deeper down school budgets, NHS and GP savaging plus the Great Unmentionable. No, couldn't be. The last but one PM put his arm around us all and claimed The Deal which can't be polished a triumph.. TLDR meets TTFN

Wonderful work of art. Somehow, I hadn't seen it going that way and today's episode was a surprise. So moody, but not anything creepy about it. Just a calm and quiet place to enjoy.
 
Another thought provoking poem. So true.

The dumpling recipe looks doable even for me. I shall try it.

Torn trousers may be on point, but not for school uniform, especially when too small and worn with a too small polo shirt. Just not acceptable and it makes her look as though nobody cares when, in fact the only one who doesn't care is herself. That's her right, of course, and part of her delightful personality, but not when it shows her parents in an uncaring light.
 
Hopefully you will enjoy the recipe if not, sorry. I'm sure Em knows how much she is loved. The poem is the brother of yesterday's and comes from a longer one. The starting point is a fleeing, tired, cold and hungry King Alfred offering to tend the cakes in exchange for some. King to servant which is the Christian idea of Christmas and Easter in a nutshell. Other views are available and I respect them fully. Those who enjoyed the last kingdom will recognise the reference to Guthrum. Allegedly, many of the bodies of British WW1 soldiers bore this poem. Many of Chesteron's contemporaries and readers had servants so no early fire lighting with cracked hands for them. To (these) modern eyes it neatly echoes the idea that the service of key workers - remember that phrase so quickly dropped and changed to militant Putin supporters? - toiling away while we slumber on. Nowhere does it say or imply one exploits, belittles and forces "servants" into a corner to pander to the Murdoch/Mail/Telegraph press.

On holday some years ago, I won a cockerel in a raffle at a Fest Noz, we were camping, snag was the bird was alive!! I manage to swap it with a guy from Rennes who had won three bottles of wine, He invited our family back to his place the next evening when we enjoyed coq au vin with lots of red wine. A great memory.
