Forgot to mention that as well as the plaster we also bought four tin sheets in various sizes. One of which was perfect to replace the missing sheet on the leanto. So MrSlim spent most of yesterday repairing the various bits of storm damage to the roofs.
I wondered if you could up your weekly budget by going into the budget section of the menu of your smart meter @gennepher - or is your smart meter not allowing you to do thstr? Then I notice my smart meter. Scrolling continuosly across the entire smart meter screen is a message which says "YOU HAVE EXCEEDED YOUR WEEKLY BUDGET ALLOWANCE". It won't stop. No amount of pressing the screen to turn that bit off will work.
Thanks. I did that @Krystyna23040I wondered if you could up your weekly budget by going into the budget section of the menu of your smart meter @gennepher - or is your smart meter not allowing you to do thstr?

Very splendid... I wouldn't mind one of those in my back garden @dunelmGood morning everyone and welcome to the early doors bin lorry watch here in the dark and dangerous north. Girl in the bubble yesterday morning as she only does an afternoon at pre-school on Wednesday’s. Plans being drawn up to split the garage and turn the rear section into an art room. This will include insulation. We have already put French doors in at that end. Just wonder if it will ever get done but I do love a plan. Doctors appointment at 0900 and I have been asked to take my blood pressure monitor in order to compare readings with the one the doctor uses. Art bit - didn’t post yesterday but here is how far I have gotten with it. Enjoy your day. I shall have koffy and probably a second one.

That is a nightmare @gennepher. There is definitely a glitch in their software. I do hate technology when it doesn't do what it should do.Thanks. I did that @Krystyna23040
But then I got a message saying I wasn't paying enough each month with that level of budget, and that they very strongly recommended I pay another £25 a month.
I am not doing that because what I pay now monthly, more than covers my current usage (and I have a float, excess money, which they earn interest on of about £250 and I did that ages ago (when there was total uncertainty what might happen) to make sure there was always enough money to pay my energy bill in case it went up a shocking amount). If you don't do what they recommend then they say they will automatically alter your direct debit for you, to what they think is a correct amount. And once they do that, alter your direct debit for you, it is hard to get that amount down again because they won't let you do it, even though you are not using that much energy now.
And so I put the budget amount back to the current level. Then I got another message saying they were happy I was paying the correct amount for my level of usage, and that I would be in credit by the end of the financial year. It's the way their software has been set up.
Silly software, or it is that they are automatically asking you to pay half as much again as your usage, so that they know your bills are covered by the end of the financial year, which, in my case will be October this year.
I have seen on Twitter, people from my energy company complaining they are asking/automatically taking in excess (something like half as much more) of the direct debit needed and this is crippling for people who have much larger bills than I have.
The thing is once spring arrives, then I never put my heating on anyway (when the gas central heating was working, I turned it off, and so it was off for more than seven months of the year). This is nothing to do with economy, it's because I can't stand the heat with my dry eyes and my dry throat. So I need to be in control of the direct debit payment, so that when I need to reduce it when I'm not using so much, then as I am in control of the direct debit, I am able to reduce it myself.
A friend has done spreadsheets for me on all this, I am not good at sums, so that I can keep totally on top of this.

That's one substantial looking building. I often wonder if the buttresses were needed on those old buildings, when they were built. I guess that, by now, they actually are.Good morning everyone and welcome to the early doors bin lorry watch here in the dark and dangerous north. Thanks.Greetings all on a grey, dull but dry. frost and fog free where the temperature today will be slightly above average for January. So, the haggis with champed neeps/swede/rutabaga) and celeriac was tasty, warming and what I wanted. The $65k question is, was this me using my freedom to indulge the flesh rather than accept discipline? My carb count yesterday was 55 (regularly half that) with sodium, potassium and phosphorus under a self imposed limit. I am increasingly losing belief in LC. I'm very thankful that my A1cs have been non diabetic for 7 years and mild background retinopathy cleared up in under a year. I’m beginning to be convinced that it was exercise and LC being unpleasant thus forcing me to eat so few calories that I inevitably lost weight. Especially with much more exercise. Initially always after eating. The counter argument is just how many people are convinced LC has solved their BG issues and other problems and the number of people who were not and never had been overweight at DX. One regular poster here was surely never anything but trim. Moving on. @gennepher hug for the fuel bill nonsense. Thanks for the latest creative. I saw one cat so have I missed some wildlife? @dunelm thanks for sharing the art which is looking ever more sturdy. I hope the doctors visit goes well. It will be interesting to see how the meters compare. I have massive white coat syndrome, always have. Hope the garage conversion end up being more useful than the gym here which is still a very expensive oversized glory hole. Hopefully, even after this post and the pervasive feeling that our govt is mired in sleaze, bullying and refusal accept reality you will all have splendid days. Yes Forrest, but should Momma have ever bought chocolates in the first place?
You have to watch it gennepher they may assume you can't pay and put you on a prepayment meter. That is a nightmare @gennepher. There is definitely a glitch in their software. I do hate technology when it doesn't do what it should do.
I waited quite a long time but, just as I had given up and about to start cooking my soup for lunch she turned up. BG staying low despite the carbs. When she'd gone, I cooked the soup - not specially low carb and delicious - but BG was dropping down into the 3's - even by the fingerprick so I couldn't have insulin. Even now, I am only at 4.0. That's an hour after having my soup. I even had to have something sugary to prevent getting down to hypo level. As it happened, the post brought a package from Amazon of different chocolates for baking with so I had a couple of pieces of that, since I couldn't get to my stash of jelly babies (perching on the seat of my rollator to stay out of Lisa's way). So, everything I've had today was not low carb, and my BG is staying low. Doesn't make sense.BG at 10.30 last night was 5.3. I went to bed then (very early for me) and just under 4 hours later it was 4.8. I don't normally sleep longer than that but it meant that I was up far too early to do anything to avoid disturbing Neil too much. I couldn't do much anyway - legs far too painful (they feel as though someone has been using a hammer on my knees when I stand up). Trying to do as little as possible today, but doing nothing is never an option. Today is the day for my cleaner to come to do the floors so everything had to be ready for her (everything off the floor - if possible, make sure bathrooms are respectable, make my bed, clear the kitchen sinks) There was that pile of pots in the sink waiting to be done (Neil had filled the dishwasher for me, but had ignored the stuff in the sink) and the dishwasherto put on and so on, and so on... In fact, Neil had emptied the boot of the car of all the tools and plumbing bits and pieces he had used fixing his brother's plumbing job and stacked them all in the hallway. He did sort them out and all that is left is a big, heavy cardboard box which I can't move so Lisa will have to vacuum round it. Now I'm sitting at the desk to rest my legs for a bit, drinking tea and waiting for Lisa to turn up.
