What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you @ianpspurs and as the clock ticks onwards to the end of yet another year for you, I hope you enjoy the next one immensely. Contrary to what humbuggin takes place, this splendid piece was crafted by TGIB at “school” on Friday.

pleased you got some rain on that parched earth. Smashing photo, thanks for sharing.

How true this and this are is is debatable but it is all I could find. As for Mothering Sunday, the Mothers Union always gave children, of varying ages, a small posey for mothers in the church we attended when the boys were growing up.
Interesting reads, Ian. And a nice touch from the Mothers Union at your church. I always felt that every day should be "family day" and parents should be appreciated all the time, not just on a particular day in the year. A smile, a helping hand, a hug, throughout the year, to me, is far more valuable than a box of chocolates, or a pot plant on one day of the year. I guess I get that from my parents too.

As it happens, the man that I married came from a similar family, albeit a bit more strict (no birthday celebrations, no Christmas celebrations, no Easter celebrations). The only celebration they kept was at New Year but that wasn't the drunken house to house of many of their peers, just a family day and a special meal (a huge steak pie dinner and a sultana cake) to share between all comers.

thank’s for the information. This ruin is of a house built of slate that we saw in Wales. It reminded me of my Parents farmhouse when they had a place in Carmarthenshire at the time my dad worked at Cardiff Royal Infirmary. He would catch the train from Carmarthen each Monday morning and return Friday afternoon. Mum worked the land, looked after the animals, made pottery and goats cheese which she sold in various shops together with chicken and duck eggs. I agree with you about Father’s Day - did we import it from the USA like a prelude to some dodgy food out there on the horizon?

7.0 this morning. Stayed relaxing in the garden today as Archie is still under the weather.

I got Mr K doing his least favourite job today. All I asked him to do - as I sorted through my summer clothes - was to tell me if I looked OK in them or should they go to the charity shop.

5.2 for me this morning. Enjoy what is left of your weekend peeps x

How did you like living in Japan @Annb? One of my son's is working there this year
We didn't live in Japan. We visited a few times on cargo ships and our time at Innoshima (an island on the Inland Sea) was a couple of weeks while our ship was in dry-dock for its annual maintenance. We always thought it would be a charming place to live and the people were polite and friendly. Not at all sure what it is like there now - our last visit was a brief stop at the port of Nagoya and it seemed so busy and hectic, also covered by a hazy polluted atmosphere. Nevertheless, there were charming little moments - a tiny garden in a corner of a shipyard, friendly workers always willing to help or advise, a "Dunkin' Donut" establishment with cheery and helpful staff, loved by our boys. That was in the 80's.

Your newsagent obviously had advanced notice of the new star columnist. Quite surprised that people still take a daily paper but JKP often picks a free Times up in Waitrose
Yes, our newsagent definitely did have advanced notice of the new star columnist. I must admit that I am a bit old-fashioned and do love my daily paper copy of the 'I' newspaper. I also prefer a paper copy of a book rather than the kindle version.

Monty, the magpie, a friend named him Monty! Yes you @ianpspurs
He is here mid morning, having discovered that the later more expensive cat biscuits I put out for the stray cats are more tasty than the nighttime cat biscuits...

AND

Cat Midnight & the Fox - That was satisfying says Midnight!
The clue is in Midnight's ears beforehand...

Creative is a kaleidoscope in Laboscope
A bee in a foxglove

Now I am knackered.
Too hot and airless.
Midnight keeping me company.

Sleep calls. An afternoon nap...

I know the day is nearly over, but have your best day...

I am rooting for Little Miss No Name...

EDIT To add, about baby sparrows. I am watching some now. (Mon morning) And the chicks that give their dad's the most grief are the little girls! And they are the most demanding!

Long time since I have seen a Swallowtail @SlimLizzy

Monty the Magpie is having a great time there. Smashing kaleidoscope- wonder if I should have some watermelon?

Did they all stay?
You looked beautiful in all of them @Krystyna23040 ?
Or did he say, give them all to the charity shop and I'll buy you some new ones...

DMBLBIT?

Thank you very much. Gifts such as that are priceless.

Thank you for the gorgeous kaleidoscope. Monty is obviously a Magpie of exquisite taste only the best will suffice.
