What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

It was and is forever thus and society seems in the main to have to look after ourselves - governments - a bit of a farce really.

Good morning everyone on a very late start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Never mind, I put the bins out last night so the important job was completed before the coach turned back into a pumpkin. Blimey, how puritanical is the meedja becoming. Distasteful maybe but just another non story like the bloke from the other channel. Today is cleaning the roof of whatever the thing is that sits above the drive - not a porch, pergola or car port - who knows. So, some foamy stuff in the foamy thing on the pressure washer, a brush that extends 3 metres and a flourish of spray to finish off. One side done already but best to eke out these small pleasures over a couple of days. Anyhow, my supervisor is going for koffy with her sister. Art bit - inky winky finished. Enjoy the rest of your day, I may just have another koffy.

Morning all from a dull start here in L.A. A few hares off and running I see. Imho the G7 guys are still in denial about 2008 and in the meantime the New Right and various Useful Idiots have used versions of Shock Doctrine, in the absence of anything from the sensible centre, to distract people and sieze control of "the narrative." There must now always be a narrative in place of policies and solutions. Bernie and Jezza were never gonna win. One doesn't need to swallow Naomi Klein's ideas wholly (wot, no labels babe? sorry that ain't gonna fly) nor believe Bannon's evil puppet masters - Mercers/Koch Bros/NRA/Dark Money - take your pick - run the show. As for governments, Dizzy and Bizzy (Disraeii and Bismark) are long gone as are the Liberals of 1906 - 14 (Lloyd George had the Cahones to tax the rich) along with FDR and Atlee. I don't think anyone has properly defined what Neo Liberalism is despite blaming it for all the world's ills, never mind come up with an alternative. It is now just an over used term of abuse more than well used. Other faiths are big on helping the needy and Mosaic law is crystal clear on this. Anyhow, @gennepher hug for Youtube wasting your time and thanks for sharing the colourful creative. Today I shall be watching and supporting Svitolina. Have a great day or if life gives you lemons - put some in your Darjeeling.

Didn't Thatcher say, There was no such thing as society! ?
You mean this? More nuanced and I'm absolutely no fan of hers. OzCam were, imho, nastier about this which was a major cause of the B word and impact of COVID being much worse in UK than necessary, imho. She was the poster girl for cost of everything and value of nothing which is now a huge problem for UK Plc.

Milk snatcher, around here as primary school milk was stopped.
Also, the Tories had to send Hestletine into the area to sort it out! My region took a hammering because of Tory policies back then. Only I, was in work in my family of six!
There was riots, every Tory MP lost their seats. And every constituency in the wider area is Labour.
We know which party is fleecing the majority of the population.

6.7mmols this morning, up and down around this level.

My beloved's birthday today, cooking her favourite for later, with a nice summer's cake for after.

Already had one son around and a play with my youngest grandson. Just had to tidy up after him, but my lad did a few chores for me. So win, win. Aiming to get in the sun in the garden this afternoon but it has gone cloudy again after a bright start. Lawn is done.

I think I have to be a little less political within this thread and I apologise if I have been a bit bolshy.
Sometimes I get a bit carried away, and I feel sometimes, I should be carried away!

Have a lovely Thors day!

Many happy returns Mrs Lamont. Good man for cooking her favourite .

I know at 84 I am too old to be bolshy but it just gets to me at times!

I hope your wife enjoys her day.

I should should have gone to my friends diamond wedding at Lincoln today but I just couldn't travel that far.

Enjoy your day @dunelm
You are very good at these solid structures...

Thank you Ian

Happy Birthday for Mrs L.
I hope the sun comes out for you @Lamont D

Happy Birthday for Mrs L. Winner all round for the visitors.

Happy birthday Mrs Lamont. Hope it has been a good day for the whole family (and that the meal was everything you wanted it to be.

Just back from getting my legs rebandaged so have to sit down for a bit to recover (having just taken some painkillers). Shortly, I'll make myself a cup of tea and get going again. Lots to do to ease the pressure of tomorrow's visitors.

Went to the local recycling to take some plastic and bottles and stuff that is u/s. It is the first time for years but needs must there has not been any recycling here since April and we are just getting our general waste taken.Dustbinmen still on strike and dustbin schedule not indicating any change in the foreseeable future.

Hope the workers helped especially if there were steep steps. A man had a serious head/brain injury falling and banging his head at our local site so they are very keen to help now. Don't be too proud to ask for help. Hmm, we may be too similar.

Enjoyed one of the best pieces of haddock enjoyed at a now defunct chippy close to the imps ground. Which was called surprisingly 'Back of the net'. Going to Sincil Bank of the now LNER stadium as it is now, was always a good day out!
We arrived the first time, the wrong way! We went via the railway junction instead of coming from the right way missing the centre of the city!
