What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a rainy start here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.5 this am. Talks of looking after aging bodies. Unfortunately our minds are still firmly stuck in our youth, I don’t think that mine got past 12. When I injured my lower back in the 1970’s(and several injuries in other locations as side dishes), plaster casts and learning to walk again seemed to be the end of it but as the years go by, these things tend to catch up. I have been told, and I do try and remember, not to lift anything heavier than a bag of sugar. But…
Anyhow. Art bit, some colour added so best look for something else. Hope your day is kind to you. I shall finish my koffy and then get on with my exercises.

Peaceful and serene @dunelm
Definitely a secret location where no one else can see in...

Interesting art work and what a splendid outcome for you. I’m sure that some plantings will obscure the Berlin Wall and a screen on the gate will complete the oasis.

Thank you very much @dunelm
I misread the word 'plantings' as 'paintings, and my mind immediately jumped to paintings and lighthouses and seashores and seas and beaches. Then I realised you had said 'plantings'
Siiiggghhhhh...

Those bushes have been in those pots (dustbins actually to raise the height of the pot) by the wall for nearly 20 years now, and they have grown no more than that on the photo. They had unexplained broken twigs at the top...They should have grown another couple of metres at least, maybe they will have a chance now...

Thanks...

It is a nightmare those photos @Annb
I had to go to a special photo place in the end earlier this year, because my instructions said only a digital photo was suitable and it wasn't easily accessible for me.
I hope it goes through smoothly.
Amazing! I have only just turned on my laptop and checked my e-mails and there is one from our local council saqying my blue badge application has been approved and will be ready for collection in about 10 days. I only applied for it yesterday afternoon. The only issue is that in Scotland we have to pay £20 for a blue badge, whereas in England it is about £5 or £6 and in Wales, free. Don't really understand that, but heigh ho, it's only once in 3 years.

Morning all on a sunny start here to the penultimate day of sensible temperatures, ergo sensible clothing , here. What just struck me is that this area is devoid of the gorgeous colours of autumn because the dominant fauna is Socts and Corsican pine and bracken although it is an AONB. Home was basically surrounded by a riot of colour in autumn. @gennepher thanks for sharing the creative and good news of the fence. Good fences make good neighbours said Mr Frost but here's a song for you @dunelm thanks for sharing the wonderful art and hug for those injuries, acquired in the service of others, impeding you.. @lindisfel I hope all goes well today. Thoughts and prayers for those in the latest chapter in the Arab/Israeli conflict. The only tiny crumb of comfort one can take is that Trump isn't POTUS. Y'all have a good day.

Terrible news from Israel. Of course they have to defend their country and their people from the depredations of Hamas, but I can't help wondering where it will all end for the poor souls who live in that area and if somehow there couldn't be a better way to resolve the issues. But that would take goodwill on both sides and that, I'm afraid, is sadly lacking on either side.

I have a friend, an Israeli living in Holland, who was so happy just a few days ago, thinking that the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel would lead to some kind of peace in the region. Haven't had a chance to speak to her this week but I'm afraid she'll be very low now.

Beautiful scene, beautifully rendered.

Would you be allowed to paint your side of your neighbour's fence? If so, it seems a good opportunity to give yourself a pleasant background to look at rather than that oddly ugly fence.

Thanks @ianpspurs - some days are good, some days are better

That is brilliant @Annb

When the FIL was alive, he liked a tipple or ten!
And we had to find ways to get him from the floor many times! Funny thing was, he never felt it or had pain from it! Rolling and leaning against a solid piece of furniture, and gradually kneeling or manoeuvring to a sitting position, was our process, sometimes tho, we just left him to sleep it off!

Thank you Ian
I like that Frost poem about dry stone walling!

Hug for your friend and others whose hopes have been dashed. One idea doing the rounds is that Iran may have a hand in the outrage but other commentators suggest the timing may rule that out. The whole situation is a tragedy not helped by the current Israeli PM. Why are people falling for "gobby" populists since 2008? One summer's reading at Uni was the Great Dictators and I thought how could people ever fall for that?

I don't think so it's not mine legally to paint. Is a very solid structure. But I have some ideas about doing a mural on my bungalow wall now.... I added one on the walls of my garden in my last house when the kids were small, and I enjoy doing that then, but I'm thinking of doing something a little bit different this time....

That fence is very much 'keep away from me' isn't it? Why? I have no idea.
The Waterboard are messing with some stuff at the moment , making a lot of noise and drilling at the moment, at the front of mine, so I don't really feel like doing anything today, I had enough of all that drilling noise yesterday, so I'm just hiding in the back until all that is over. That drilling and burning smell goes with the drilling is making me feel a bit sick....like a dentist drilling teeth....

You need a tablet for this, then you need a tablet for the side effects, then another! And so it goes on.
You need a vaccine, you need treatment for a issue resulting from it, then more tablets or treatment for that. And so it goes on and on.

I think I will build a pharma company to abuse this.

See that, one of the main guys that advise d Boris during the pandemic, has now a cushy job with the company who was one of the companies that produced the vaccines for covid!
