Boy Badger trying to get on swing...

This is sped up, because this Boy Badger was doing this on & off all night...
It seems to me he has lost the plot a bit and is not sure what exactly he is actually doing...
He has watched his Pa trying to get on the swing, but all he has seen is the destructive behaviour of Pa Badger, which hasn't really been destructive behaviour but Pa Badger trying every means to get on the swing, for any stray cat biscuits or to sit on the swing (like Cat Midnight), and groom himself...
By the way, months ago I tied all the cloths to the swing as they were being pulled off by Pa Badger (then called KissyKissy because he kept 'kissing' Cat Midnight), on to wet muddy ground...
1 and a half minutes long

Creative...
I sat on the swing late afternoon watching my back garden. This is the scene.
The sparrows have chosen their partners for next year's brood, and the squabbling has stopped. Seagulls overhead. The little Dunnock is back after her brood has flown away. She gets perilously close to Midnight, who does not have one jot of interest in birds...
And I was thinking.
I'd had a noisy day with the waterboard there nearly 5 hours in all. It was not something I had asked to be done, but Mr Xmas Lights Berlin Wall neighbour had requested a water meter. The problem for me was the stopcock for me and him were both at the end of my driveway, and they said they would be an hour, but there were problems. Both stopcocks for me and him were joined together in one hole. Weird. As usual when noisy work is to be done he and his wife disappear for the day, or for a few weeks when he had work done on his driveway/bungalow/ etc etc leaving me with the dust and noise etc. So I ended up talking to the workmen who thought this was going to go on until tomorrow. I said no, I wanted this finished today. I supplied them with coffee (they did have another job up the road for a water meter which they said they needed to do today). Anyway, give them their due they completed it. And went up the road to see if they could do the other water meter, they did and that was a simple job which was completed in less than an hour.

I have just put some stuff in the car, flask etc, and escape to England and sanity...

Mrs Berlin Wall Xmas Lights neighbour was at the front sweeping, and I said a bright and cheery good morning, and she gave me a dirty look, stopped sweeping and went in...

Bye for now....

Sorry, I haven't checked for typos, will do that tonight...

Good morning everyone one another damp squib of a start here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.5 this am and already Mrs Miggins is up and out for her 0820 GP appointment. We walked into town yesterday but forgot that the bus timetable had changed and so we decided to walk back again, after a koffy of course. I suppose that the exercise was good for me but at the time, not so much. Still, we didn’t have to climb the steps up the cliffs so that was nice. Some local photographer has been taking smashing pictures of a kingfisher but when asked, won’t say where it is located. Don’t blame her, nothing ruins wildlife habitat faster than a bunch of interfering humans. Not that I don’t like people - just most of them ;). Anyhow, I have borrowed one of her photos and posted below for you to see. Art bit, another starter for 10. Hope you day is a good one. We are out to lunch with friends today but first I need some more koffy.

It's got a two tone bill, males are all black billed, females two toned.
A very nice picture from an ideal perch, one wonders how long they waited with the camera set up ready.

While the water board were here, I took the chance to examine the Berlin Wall Fence more closely on his side, by leaning over my front wall.. And I saw that the fence had no upright supports at all. I was not pleased. It had been attached to my 50 year old breeze block wal (I gave the history of that yesterday)l, by a piece of wood screwed into the length of my breeze block wall, and the only thing supporting the fence are screws into that wood at each length of panel. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Several reasons.
* he has illegally attached a very heavy structure on to my old breezeblock wall with absolutely no support structure
* we have very nigh winds which get channelled into that passageway and they cause destruction each storm.
* how long will it be before the wind gets at the height of that fence and brings it and my breeze block wall down.

And more stuff.

So the creative is me thinking on the swing. I need a day away from this place. I have some thinking to do. Do I do something now, and object. Or do I say to myself leave it until there is a problem and do something thing about it then. I do have insurance, but whether that covers a 50 year old breeze block wall, is another matter. But a 50 year old breezeblock wall which a neighbour has attached a heavy wood panel to with absolutely no upright supports and without permission, I think my insurance would cover that. And in any case, I have a neighbour dispute insurance, so hopefully I am fully covered...

I have just put some stuff in the car, flask etc, and escape to England and sanity...

Have a good day out, lovely piece of art.

5.8 at 2.30 this morning. 8.9 by 6 am, after 2 cups of tea.
Breathing was a bit uncomfortable yesterday for some reason but is a bit better today. That was the reason for the early rise but I was very shaky. Just as well I had my walking frame. Don't think I'd have made it through to the kitchen without it. Beginning the feel the weight of my 78 years (and 90 year old lungs).

Morning all from L.A where the air is freighted with ominous portents of the dread seasons of a gazillion layers - no, not chickens.. Some of you people are just too woke and not buying biscuits and Christmas puddings: Stop all that clean eating/keto/ smashed avocado on sourdough toast nonsense right now. Your retailer of choice needs you - urgently. RishGPT will be making that a priority as part of the WOW. Suella agrees as she needs more wasps to chew on - have pity on her Kemi is streets ahead in Succession season 5 @lindisfel hug for the tiredness but props to you and The Duchess for raising such loving children. @gennepher thanks for the creative which can only mean this is the song for you. My, but badger jr is a determined soul. As for that wall - it'll never last but I'm sure all your insurance will prove handy soon enough. @Annb take it easy today. @dunelm thanks for sharing the art and image of the kingfisher. Oddly there was a stuffed KF in one classroom of my primary school. As the attached shows the Rishmeister has had some success besides eat out to spread it about. Stop talking the country down - just itch and celebrate. Y'all have as good a day as possible. Perhaps indulge in a smile or even an aarf, aarf, chortle building into a guffaw, belly laugh then wheeze.

Thanks for the Bob Marley song & words @ianpspurs
What is it with these badgers?
Just seen some friends. Shown them other photos how this heavy fence is attached to my aged breeze block wall. Even without a wind, this weight is putting strain on my wall they said.

That is such a shame that your nightmare neighbour didn't do a proper job with the fence.

6.3 today, on a very damp day, overnight rain replaced the windy clear skies overhead last evening.
A lot cooler with added layer over my t-shirt. At least I'm getting the garden washed! Damping the dust covered garden cos of the concrete dust for the new fence.. Only needs a coat of paint sometime soon. Quite pleased with it!
I get on really well with both my closest neighbours, yes they do a continuous lot of work and can be noisy and raucous but I wouldn't complain. The kids are noisy but well behaved and are courteous, respectful.
Not so, when we first moved in here. On one side, there was an elderly couple, who at one point did report the council about my youngest over his music. Yes it was loud and they knew about his hearing, but it was like they couldn't wait to moan about anything and everyone, I do believe that most of the neighbours had been complained about and they were very judgemental and wrote to the council about a certain family moving into the road. Wether, we did as well, that I couldn't confirm, but probably! Four kids make noise!
It was possibly a good thing we had the field behind and the youth club, up the road.
However, karma intervened!
One night, as Mrs L and myself were being interviewed by the police cos of a chance to adopt. When there was a knock on the door. I answered, stood there like he owned the place. I said Hi!
He then asked, if whoever's car was parked on the line of the disabled bay painted on the kerbside on the road out front. Could he move it please?
One of the things that amused me was, it was eight pm in the evening, and all the local cars were parked, no one was going to park there!
I replied to his demands, That I would ask the detective sergeant to move it, as soon as he can!
A few stumbled thanks he stammered, and I shut the door on him.
I explained to the police officers and over another cuppa, we had a good chuckle.
Of course, I never told our next door, why the cops were in our house, but I knew it really frustrated them, as other neighbours mentioned their inquisitiveness!
I keep hearing that it is so different being a friendly neighbour in some places. Perhaps it has something to do with insecurity or trust. It has to be lack of social society.
I have never had trouble making or befriending people.
Can't see why others avoid it!
We need each other! Nothing would work without each other.

My best wishes to you all as always.

Thanks @ianpspurs. I thought that buying Christmas puddings so early in the year may, according to Suella, be against the law but lets not get the flags out yet. No need to barge in at the deep end. We have sent away for some pet Fire Ants and American Cockroaches just in case I bring anything dodgy back from my next trip to France.

I love a good moaning and complaining neighbour - what a treat, what a challenge. Listen, smile, nod, ignore. Nearly as much fun as inviting Jehovah’s Witnesses in and give them a cup of tea when they knock on the door, then discussing Woden, Thunor, Tiw and Frig before chatting about the authenticity of scenes in the film Life Of Brian.

There used to be this revolting rhyme when I was a young lad and I would come out with it at times when we had visitors, very embarrassing for mother.
Goodnight sleep tight, mind the bugs don't bite!

I suppose they were brought back into the country, even then.
D.

My mother lived in a block of flats in London as a child. The block was called "Albert Mansions" but they were far from mansions. The bed bugs couldn't be cleared - however much cleaning was done and however many times the rooms and bedding were disinfected. My mother was sure that they came through the dividing walls between their flat and next door. Those walls were, apparently, very sketchy and not really much more than partitions. That was in the 20's and 30's. The building is still there, so I hope it has been improved in the interim.
