Why put something in your gob, that will obviously taste like................ Awful!
The reason we have taste buds, is so we can enjoy the best things in food.
Just like the things we can't eat. Chip butties!
Real food like strawberry ice cream, strawberry cheesecake, I'm writing food that will be torturous for me!

I want to thank you all for the messages and yes it does help. Not the best day for me. Post counselling malaise. Is that part of the anxiety, new condition like long covid? RH?
I think I have to get it out there, and unfortunately you lot may be on the end of my rantings!
A depressing day in many respects but I'm heartened by the response and sympathy.

I once stayed with the players on an overnight down south in a five star hotel, very posh!
There was an omelette chef on duty on breakfast and I watched. Heating pan, mixing in ham, mushrooms, onions, using a bowl, off shaped (?) draining the olive oil, leaving a sliver in, then slowly pouring in, flipping and adding heat and salt and a touch of ground pepper flipping twice more, sliding from pan to plate, with a small side plate of salad.

Unfortunately, he had burned one side and ruined it. I took it back and had bacon and fried eggs instead.

I make, just egg omelettes. Throw four eggs in a pint glass, stir for five minutes while pan warms with lard.
Cook it and plate it. Never get it wrong!

This morning FBG 6.2
Very busy day today. French lesson, shopping, drive to ferry port. Am still doing all the driving. Not enjoying it at all.
We dont moe all our land. The part we call the paddock is only cut a few tines a year to allow a peaceful area for wildlife we are encouraging saplings to grow, hoping for a wooded area eventually. However last week MrSlim disturbed an Asian Hornets nest while giving the paddock it's autumn cut. Naturally they defended their nest vigorously and attacked MrSlim and the mower. He got a few stings (5) his hands swelled up, but fortunately these were Asian hornets. Their sting is not as bad as European hornets. I was worried because the car was in the garage so difficult to get to medical care if neccessary. Two days later the swelling is going down so at night he took petrol and burnt the nest.
Next day still significant activity so that night another attempt to burn the nest. Remember these are the bee-killers so it is neccessary to destroy the nest before they succeed in breeding queens for next year.
After some time and breaking up the nest we returned to the house to find two european hornets guarding the back door. Even after evasive manoeuvres one managed to get into the house with us causing a slight panic because we were both in a very small hallway with a highly active and angry european hornet. Two more hornets got into the house that night. Perhaps seeking revenge for their cousins demise.

I don't think the first Century Christians blamed the Jews. All the apostles were Jews and Paul was a Jew and a Pharisee all his life. Although Paul was a Roman citizen which meant he could be beheaded but not crucified and couldn't be flogged but he allowed flogging to happen to himself.

Jesus said Father forgive them for they know not what they do, to those around the cross.
Stephen when stoned to death said, Lord do not charge this sin against them and Saul later Paul was looking on and approved the stoning of Stephen.

The Jews suffered a lot of persecution because they revolted against the Roman rule and attacked the Governor of Syria when he tried to pacify the Jews.The Jews even took the Roman eagle of his army in 66.

I have not been to Israel but the siege ramp that the Romans built to take the fortress of Masada shows the persistence of the Romans if you crossed them ...they didn't take it until 73 and all the occupants killed each other rather than be taken by Rome.

I think the persecution of Jews by Christians came after the apostolic era.

I got my form from surgery on abbreviated blood tests.
My Hba1c is 48 but my total cholesterol has come down into mid 5's. This is with cutting out butter and just having olive oil.
Kidneys not bad. My HDL should be about 1.8 and trigs low.

Will know better when I see diabetic nurse at end of month. I am not surprised by my Hba1c with all the meds I'm on now.

Having flu jab this am at surgery.

And the new AEG washer dryer failed again to dry. I did get a two year guarantee and we are just into it.

No FBG this morning.
Very wet and windy on the two hour drive to the ferry port in the dark. Stressful for me and MrSlim who would much prefer to be driving himself. Son2 obliged by driving us all home. They have gone to builders merchant this morning and we are having lunch out with another couple so don't expect massive amounts of work today. Esp as both Son2 and MrSlim are following both F1 and the rugby world cup, so potential for hours of sports viewing.
Me: trying to catch up a bit in the garden after a couple of almost entirely inactive weeks there is quite a bit to do. However due to a late frost there are far fewer apples this year, which is a much appreciated blessing for me. Not so good for the cider producers though.
Kiki did not appreciate being calked back in after 10 min outside, but risk of hunters is high at the weekend so I want her safe inside.
After a dry start it has started to rain.
The weather forecast lied.

Those noodles give rise to the name of complicated dance steps in the Viennese Waltz - sort of dancing on the spot. Oh the drama of it, Saturday morning dance lessons at the Odd Fellows Hall. Why do we forget all this important stuff as we age? I do have some of that Red Breast and Teeling, also a bit left in a bottle of Green Spot. Slàinte Mhaith.

Good idea. I do similar for boiled eggs - put the eggs in cold water and put a lid on the pan. Once the water begins to boil, turn off heat and wait for 5 minutes.
 
Well done Mr Slim for getting rid of those nasty bee killers and hope that you can also get rid of the European ones without getting stung. Asian hornets hover above bee hives and swoop down to grab a bee as it lands. Asian bees have learned to fly straight into their hives and do a sort of crash land inside, thus avoiding the dive bombing hornets.
 
5.3 at 4 am (took painkillers midnight last night so slept a bit longer).

Chest has been a bit tight the last few days (hangover from Covid in 2020) but I couldn't find my oxymeter. Finally found it yesterday afternoon and it showed 94%. Could be worse and it's up a bit this morning to 95%. I should be having my covid and flu jabs next Saturday but not sure if I should go for it unless saturation rises a bit more. A full week to improve, so it might be OK and not need a decision.

Just made a pile of blueberry muffins to take to a pot-luck brunch tomorrow and will be making a low carb breakfast casserole (it's a recipe from a keto website and looks very much like a complicated frittata).

Had a short visit from my friend and the 2 brothers she has taken under her wing (12 and 14). I am ashamed of myself because I can't warm to them - their behaviour is so bad. I think my friend is hoping to improve them by example. I try to remain polite but firm. Their father was taken into care when he was a little younger than they are now because both he, and his elder brother had ADHD and their mother (a widow) couldn't cope with them after she lost her husband. Their father has turned out to be a very reasonable individual and I hope they will but they really are a handful just now. I don't think either of them has been said to have any learning issues. They are both talented and pretty bright. I wonder if they'll be brought to the brunch tomorrow. I am a bit anxious about that.
 
Morning all from a dry, bright but cooler (13C high) L.A. on a day of big sports events which will hopefully be played in the right spirit to friendly crowds. India V Pakistan on a cricket field is far better than events in the last century. @JohnEGreen I hope the jabs go well. @lindisfel hug for the white goods issue and thanks for the perspective on some of the deeply unseemly currents circulating since last week. @Annb hug for sats issues. As for the boys, C S Lewis makes the point that often we, rightly, don't like ourselves because of things we do, say or think but still love ourselves so it is no surprise we feel the same toward others. I found this piece thought provoking. Do enjoy your day whilst sweeping your own side of the street.

It affects my chest if the house gets cold so I just heat one room fully on cold days in autumn.

Good afternoon everyone on a wonderfully sunny autumnal day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.5 this am. Washing on the line and then a wander into town and round the Farmers Market. Two loaves of proper sourdough - one beetroot and one seeded, made this morning so won’t get cut up and put into freezer until tomorrow. Kimchi, two packs, made by a nice Korean woman. Art bit, just a bit of colour added, not much. Hope your day is being kind to you. Already had two koffys so tea it is.


 
Thank you for sharing the splendid art. Just enough colour added to elevate the piece to a higher level. Today already sounds like a very productive one so enjoy the remainder.
 
They always do! Today after a night of rain and wind and very cold, freezing nearly the forecasts were for showers, and around 10 degrees. Well, we have had wind, heavy rain, sleet, hail, a biting cold wind and my thermometer tells me it is 5 degrees. Just had five minutes downpour that had my windows rattling. It is Defo winter now!

6.8 today, highest for a bit.
Feel better this morning, not a bad sleep, back is slightly hurting less.
Looking forward to the grandkids coming round, I just got up this morning and did my chores, did the shopping, tidied up before the grandkids wreck it again. Exercises done.

They are here, granddaughter proud wearing her medal from gymnastics. Gotta play, can't go out, freezing!
 
Very thought provoking piece, and I absolutely agree with it.

I am determined to like these boys even if their behaviour pains me. I know that others had difficulty understanding Neil, although I didn't have issues with him. He was mine! And I understood him. And, of course, I loved him. As time goes on I will find what is good in these 2 boys and I will welcome them into my house and find pleasure in their company.
