Yes, it will be repeated tonight @ianpspursMorning all on a bright, warm day - in Kolkata. Happy birthday Virat. Here in this High Townas the signs say, it is a bright but damp start to light up the sky with Standard fireworks day. Another wonderful Bob Mortimer story. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art which brought to my mind scenes from Great Expectations and the blasted heath in Macbeth. Also thanks for the link to Kombu - a host of health benefits (allegedly). Enjoy your quiet day and the food you prepared. @Annb how could your guests not be thankful for the lovingly prepared feast?that is a clear kiss and hug me call to the members post Rishi. As for the Home Secretary @gennepher hug for the noise and your concern for the wildlife which I assume will be repeated tonight. July 4th is worse here especially around 2.am. Today is ever so goosey goosey (lyrics) here with The Little Guy ©, his sister and their minders. Have a good day.
I used to build the things! Thirty five years on the production line!Yes I bought it, but you have no idea of the intricacies of the car until you begin driving it...same with any new thing...
Very nice artwork mate!Good morning everyone on what may or may not be a rain free day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.9 this am. The day will progress with little surprises and neither of us know what today will bring. I do love a free and easy day, made all the easier as I made soup yesterday and a Moroccan Taktouka - a sort of warm salad thing with tomatoes, green peppers and spices. Thickening soups and gravy, well what about Kombu - we use it quite a lot in Asian cooking and as seasoning but have not thought about it as a soup/gravy thickener. Will give it a go. Art bit, some trees on a gloomy and wet day. Hope your Sunday is kind to you. I now need koffy and to wonder if Mrs Miggins will beat the 10am threshold of sleeping.

Bonny night is a yearly event that is enjoyed by the young and not so young!Yes, it will be repeated tonight @ianpspurs
Why is it legal to upset and brutally scare animals/birds/wildlife (we have a lot of wildlife round here) to this degree, just for the gratification of humans. If they want a war zone then send them all to a country where there is a true war zone and let them experience that. The horrendously loud repeated bangs were still going on at the time of midnight.
Thanks Ian.
So you didn't do a Johnnie Cash when you were there and smuggle a car out in your lunch box?I used to build the things! Thirty five years on the production line!
Aaah!So you didn't do a Johnnie Cash when you were there and smuggle a car out in your lunch box?
In my very early childhood I lived with my grandparents and wandered in the countryside. There were no bonfires and fireworks then.Bonny night is a yearly event that is enjoyed by the young and not so young!
We have around here fireworks, every night!
One of the things that is not done now, is the bonfires, in my younger days, it was huge to have a bonny, on a piece of bombed ground, many around here at the time. These were many and there was gangs of kids collecting wood and getting ready for the night. There were bonny raids, small fires to warm and cook spuds in, and generally have a bit of a experience of being a teenager or younger on the streets of a deprived area.
One thing I always hated was penny for the guy. For so many reasons.
We never thought about animals because in a deprived area, there wasn't that many around.
Look after them animals.
It made a good song for Johnnie Cash,Aaah!
No! What was done, was there was a underground system, that would provide such material as required.
Butty box wasn't that big!
Thank you @gennepher. We use Kombu and dried bonito flakes to make Dashi (Japanese soup stock) so will be experimenting with the soup thickening tip.I absolutely love this painting @dunelm and this series....
Enjoy your coffee.
Kombu to thicken soups etc sounds interesting.
Than you @ianpspurs - it was a walk into town and a ride on the funicular (both ways) - should we buy an annual pass was the discussion. Love the Bob Mortimer takes on Would I Like to You - the one with the Chris Rea egg in the bath is hilarious. got to love Bertie and Gussie.Morning all on a bright, warm day - in Kolkata. Edited to almost make sense.
Very sad when animals are injured - love the owlFbg 7.9
The fireworks were extraordinarily loud last night. I placed extra cat food in the kitchen for disturbed beasties. I got woken up by a massive ginger Tom, but he picked a fight with peace loving Midnight. So I roared at him. The Tom fled. He had scared Merlin and Amy badly, and I found them outside, Merlin rushed back in, but black cat Amy needed coaxing. Then to see if Midnight was okay. He was scared and agitated. There is no need for any cat to fight Midnight. I spent the next couple of hours grooming his fur (he loves that now), and using some cat safe scented stuff to calm him, and talking softly. Then he drifted into sleep...he is fine this morning.

I would like to paint owls a wee bit longer, then find another subject.
Just had a Skype conversation with daughter in Australia. She was very upset. She had been walking and came across a kangaroo who was badly injured by the train tracks but very much alive. She was stopping/slowing down trains(every 15 mins). She was phoning different organisations, even the rail company, but no one would come out saying it was up to the rail company but they wouldn't come out. She spent over 2 hours sitting as close to the kangaroo as she could and her and the kangaroo spent the best part of two hours looking each other in the eyes. But she said she had to close her eyes each time a train passed. Finally someone came from the last phone call she made, this was not their remit to deal with injured animals yet they sent someone out to shoot the kangaroo, the guy did spend a few minutes explaining to daughter why he had to. As daughter walked away, she heard the shot. Next day she returned, but it was still left there. Nothing had eaten it. She left a flower on the kangaroo.
Have your best day.
Time for a cuppa.

Thank you @Lamont DVery nice artwork mate!
Not so on the peninsula, I swear, that every time I want a bit of fresh air, the rain starts. Never seen my grass so damp, the water just can't go nowhere!
6.6 this satur...... Sorry Mrs L has informed me, this Sunday more facup day.
Chores nearly done, and cooking!
Exercise and stretching is required, my left cheek is a bit numb.
As the covid enquiry has revealed, the government has a tendency to blame everyone else for all the ills of this country because they haven't got a clue what real life is all about. The trolley was very surprised the majority of council tenants did not have a garden or more than one access to their homes!
Dr Death is only interested in feathering his own. And when his political career is over, he will be off to California on his green card, with the millions that he has accrued as a financier over the last fifteen years. I watched a video, that stated, he was one of the bankers, involved in starting the run on the banks that in 2008, that a lot of people lost money, that he and his mates hoovered up!
Cruella is just a nasty piece of work driven by those who just don't care what happens to me and you and the country!
Rant over.
Take care, best wishes to you all as always.
Gotta go Mrs L wants a cuppa.
Hug for what will be another night of loud bangs to scare the wildlife as well as mean you have to take off your processor and the distressing call with your daughter. Winner for sharing another of those owls.Fbg 7.9

I went to the American base in Berlin, and ate for breakfast in their officers restaurant, ham and eggs.It made a good song for Johnnie Cash,
Nothing was ever small in the States, blue berry muffins were enormous. Steaks were massive and always underdone, once had a plate of catfish which was enough for three people down near Corpus Christi.
