What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Hi @jjraak. Probably prophetic of when our sun becomes a red giant and takes in all the inner planets from Earth inwards.
It will not bother us, it's due billions of years in the future!

When we were kids (1951) we were at the open air swimming pool in Folkestone. Mum didn't swim, neither did my brother or I but Dad was a swimming champion in his youth so he went for a swim in his brand new trunks. He dived into the water and his heavy woollen trunks, made heavier by the water, just slipped off. Her was horribly embarrassed, especially when Mum couldn't stop herself from laughing! He did manage to get them back on under the water.

Good morning everyone from a surprisingly bright start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Up late after my day sitting on a variety of trains and then missing out on the last double dip bin day of the year. Never mind, like some confused migratory birds, it will return in the spring. Unless of course spring is cancelled by an act of parliament in the all new post-truth correcting fluid fan dance to an AI generated voice of Tommy Cooper (glass, bottle. bottle, glass), or the call for a referendum by Big “I will never abandon you” Dave and his little pal, the extended life lettuce of marvelous ideas. Do you believe in life after love Jimmy Dimly? Art bit, just a start. And not as big as the last one which was quite exhausting. Hope everyone’s day is better than yesterdays. Now, where did I put that mug of koffy?

Blood sugars this morning were 5.1

Today being Friday me, me’s and myself have been excused shopping supervision duties, Mrs J will be going on her own, unfortunately being excused shopping duties came with a hefty price tag, me, me’s and myself had to listen to her spouting sound waves that sometimes almost made the journey into my consciousness, I love surprises which be in the form of unloading the shopping when Mrs J returns.

Now it is time to go and look at the task list Mrs J has left for me, me’s and myself.

A glorious morning in Cumbria for a change, with it down to near freezing first thing.
A lot of migrant birds in the trees near our cottage with loads of migrant Fieldfare for a change.
There are quite a lot of Waxwings in the country a number in Carlisle and an influx of Short-eared Owls from the continent. The owls are mainly diaurnal and like rough pasture, moor and margins of marshes.
In some years they stay around to breed after winter given enough voles.
I am afraid I have to be chained to my portable comode like Jimmy Young use to be as Terry Wogan joked so I can't go and look for the Waxwings in Carlisle.

I was using my bins quite a lot looking out our big picture window at the back of the house.
Problem is these 10x42 Swarovskis are excellent but it's a bit if a work out lifting them up and down from the breakfast table to see the birds properly. I don't know how they managed to put weight on in the last ten years.

Good morning all from a very sunny but distinctly chilly L.A. where, as it is Thanksgiving next Thursday , wreaths and aphorisms are appearing on doors but "fresh" turkeys are not on shelves. Surely must be some on base? - don't call me Shirley. Eight foot high inflatable Santas, snowmen and candy canes have long been on front lawns. @gennepher I hope you slept the sleep of the just - we won't go there with the other (best of all) one - and thanks for yesterday's creative. @dunelm sorry to hear you missed double bubble bin day but glad you are home safe. Thanks for sharing another wonderful starter for 10, reminding me of the Cher song and you also finding Jimmy Dimly chucklicious. @Annb hug for Alistair's upcoming workload but good news for DIL. Hug for your less than stellar day yesterday. @lindisfel I hope transit issues abate - antibiotics can cause one to evacuate through the eye of a needle as my mum said - though not evacuate exactly. That's all I've got to say about that as a wise philosopher, whose Momma must have loved him a great deal, said. Super salmon salad day here today. I love a bargain - Ocado salmon £8 for two fillets (feelays round here) or £12 for 6 - go figure. Y'all have whatever kind of day you wish despite Vladimir Braverman becoming more in tents daily. If it ain't yurting it ain't Woking. Surrey about that

6.1 this morning. Picked up my car and drove it for the first time. It was lovely to drive.

It was nice to be able to fully concentrate on the road rather than part of my brain focussing on the gear changing. I will never go back to a manual car as it was wonderful not to have to think about gear changing. Tomorrow I will drive to classes in Norwich and actually don't feel at all nervous about driving the new car

I used my new replacement coffee machine this morning. Wonderful to have a coffee machine that works perfectly. Nespresso also sent me some free coffee capsules.

Now I must start on the admin and will catch up with everyone's posts later.

Another memory, from back when.
my mum did knit, and the jumper she knitted was quite nice, except one of the sleeves from the elbow down, was a different shade. The wool shop had run out of the colour, and the closest shade was used. a couple of photos, remained and chuckled about cos of it!!

who could afford Speedos?
 
6.4 on this frantic friday, bright but cold.
Running around ordering new blinds, getting someone to put up wood for curtain rail, which also needs replacing, all weather damaged from the leak.
As you may well guess, not a good sleep for myself and Mrs L, who is presently sparked out on the couch!
Gotta go, too much to do, as always. Always doing too much.
Hope the day goes well.
