What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

1981 was the year I left that RAF and the year my mil passed away of a fast growing malignant brain tumour that in the space of a few weeks robbed her of all humanity and traumatised the family leaving that year a blank of just about everything else.
 
6.7 as it's moaning Monday or manic Monday, depending on what is happening in your neck of the woods.

Lots to do, today now, getting bedroom back to some normality.
Chores and shopping done.

To my reasoning, and his ramblings to avoid the truth, not remembering the details of his meetings and outcomes is scandalous. Nowt else!
He comes across, like a spiv.
While he is smiling and shaking your hand, his other hand is rifling your pockets.
He won't look at the covid families.
He is a disgusting typical investment banker.
Where life and people are secondary to profit.
The worst kind of tory!
What is his motivation?
Where is his loyalty to the people?

Hope he enjoys his luxury mansion in California soonest!
 
I was married to Mrs L in March of that year. I cannot remember snow at all.
However, it was around that time and a correlation between having no salt for roads and an unpreparedness for heavy snow. And I do remember, a heavy fall of snow, that we had just managed to get to work, before the main roads were closed. If that was '81?
The lack of preparation for something akin to snow etc, has become a common theme in this country. The lack of equipment, infrastructure, has become a way of British life and the policy, definitely impacts daily life, which of course had such a devastating effect on covid.
 
MrSlim did decide to send a card to his aunt. So pleased he is reaching out and I posted it along with the rest.

Earlier I alluded to this poem - which is actually from the 10th December in the Guite book. Malcolm Guite sees a spiritual connection and feels Keats is too pessimistic but many people feel the way Keats does at this time of year. Today's poem makes a great sermon centrepiece but imho is so on point for the Stop the boats even though written in 1864.Rwanda shenanigans going on today. I find it easy to imagine the locked and fortified doors of the ERG, New Conservatives and assorted oddbods being furiously banged upon and their entrance having footprints marked by blood. Guite’s essay on this poem is amazing - all imho obviously.. Surely we’re better than this?

Helen was at uni and abigail was at school, I spent six months in a furnish house at Great Ayton. I had a six months attachment to Bilsdale West Moor.

Good morning everyone on yet another Moist Von Lipwig start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Good job I got those new welly boots - I can jump in muddy puddles. Hospital duties for Mrs Miggins today - picking up BIL after he get’s a shiny new pacemaker fitted. I am on collection duties - get thee to a pharmacists. A wire is being put up in parliament today so that teeny tiny Richy Rich can go down to it and call on the bones of Knut to stop the tide . It’s a new idea by that famous Australian Pat Cash who teaches tennis back hands in the dark and mysterious Star Chamber. Do they have to wear fancy dress? Art bit, more marsh like scrapings on watercolour paper. Have yourself a smashing day if you can. I simply must make koffy and then the bed.

Son1 was born 13.01.82 there was freezing fog on tbe drive to the hospital and considerable snow fell overnight. I recall a TV programme showing the effects in different areas of the country.
Traffic chaos in London, of course. Skating on the Norfolk broads, farmers in Wales searching for their sheep. Might have been skiing in Scotland as well. Have often thought a DVD of this programme would make an unusual present for Son1.
The roads were so bad the hospital was supplied with food from red cross parcels dropped by helicopter.
 
6.8 this morning. Luckily we got the dogs into the garden before it started pouring with rain.

We will take them for their walk when we are sure the rain has stopped. It is so nice to have a completely unplanned day. My 'to do' list is quite long but it has got some really good things on it such as:-
Relax in the conservatory with a coffee
Catch up with reading
Do lots of walking backwards

I have promised class members that I will do a lesson plan for them this week so they can practice over the Christmas vacation. I made a start on it yesterday so will probably finish it today.

I think the quote is - To err is human. To forgive, divine.
 
Morning all on the day the mad, bad and dangerous to know have had Danish pastries smoked salmon with the Tiny Dancer currently following his leaders and never mind the country. Meanwhile IRL, hugs for @dunelm's BIL but winner for another exemplary moody (not the Danny Dyer type) masterpiece. A fair to middling day for us yesterday. Garden furniture delivered to Cambs and the two grandchildren who missed the meal treated to McDonald's. Wind yer neck in all you Almond Mum types, it is a rarity, not as though we've gone full Goblin Mode. If you are trying to reach out to someone, feeling crook or swamped by trying to live some influencer's best life, have a hug. I need to take 93.99 MIL her tea then have some Kefir+protein, blueberries and seeds (the ones like Trill but without the 'erb) and my chemo tab - see, not Goblin Mode but perhaps as mad as a box of frogs. Laters peeps.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. If you woke up it’s a good morning, if you choose to moan, it’s your choice.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.4, what they are now? Who knows.

Me, me’s and myself have been away from this thread for a few days. So hugs etc if required. Call my absence an early pagan Christmas present, before a few get tweeky all religions are pagan unless it’s yours, only 3000+ to choose from. Now running for cover.

It’s routine blood test day today, only lots of them, I have been saving them up. Yep A1c is scheduled and it will probably be bad, Liver and kidney functions are more important, but making Mrs J’s early, well seeing as Mrs J has only just got up late morning tea is now top priority. Mine is not to reason why just make the ****dy tea.

Preserve you sanity ignore my ramblings.
 
All the best with the bloods. Very fashionable my monthly set are tomorrow. Probably no A1c but always random bg.

A strange intensely new ginger, cat came right into the bungalow to steal Midnight's food. Midnight got ready to send him packing, but then he saw the size of this ginger cat I looked at Midnight. Midnight looked at me and we both decided discretion was the better part of valour....

Who gives these unknown cats, precise instructions on ...go through the catflap, turn left, open the kitchen door with your claws, go in the hallway, open the next door by shouldering it, then once you are in the front room, you turn right, mind a huge pile of full plastic bags the owner is sorting through which are on your left, and then on your right there are some Amazon boxes (Don't worry, these are full of catfood which the owner has not got round to opening yet),, make your way round those and you come to a curtain, lift the curtain, and you are into a small hallway, straight ahead is another curtain lift that curtain, and then Hey Presto, all the catfood, wet and dry, you can eat...

This intensely coloured ginger cat has never been in the bungalow before....

Then once he left the bungalow, both Midnight and I gingerly got out of bed and crept towards the curtain. You first, said Midnight. Oh no no no I said you first, but Midnight went back on the bed so I had to go through the curtains all alone...

Every scrap of catfood in the kitchen had been eaten by this enormous giant of a marmalade cat...



Creative... Trying to do a fine ink drawing this morning, but the pen nib still has too much black ink on it. So the lines are thicker than I wanted, and Midnight was not cooperative as a sketchbook stand. He wanted to grab my hand as I was drawing, and I'm drawing with a cat holding my right hand with two paws.... he holds my hand with two paws, pretty much all of the night when I'm sleeping in bed.

Hence, I had to sign this with Midnight's name as well....

The Badger who wants to be a cat. This is Pa Badger. He covets the cat's seat gets on swing & has a good old belly scratch. He groomed himself for over 15 minutes on that spot.
Boy Badger is in the clip as well, on the ground...
