Morning All. 6.7 (what!) either I am coming down with the Black Plague or I have dodgy strips cos nothing happened yesterday to cause that. Unless the excessive rainfall did it! Am off to Kent later to pick my friend up from hospital, they kept her in an extra day. Need to be back for next Monday but may go back for a few days if required.
@gennepher sorry you are not good and a day of cosiness with Popeye sounds a great idea. @DJC3 glad you are better and enjoy your day with the littlies and Dennis. @karen8967 hug for the low, take care, you and @Cumberland having a lot of them. @dunelm I’m with you re meters. If I was PM (the other one) I would make it mandatory to offer a meter on dx. I would like a surgery to publish the cost of all D med in a year and compare to cost of strips. That would be interesting. I bet the meters would be supplied free in that scenario. @ianpspurs best wishes for today.
Have a great day everyone. Stay well, stay safe.
I wonder.
Will they only be as a group for 10 minutes in total, or will others be taking a part and leading the group as well.?
Most meeting I have attended, a few always turn up early.
Mighty be a nice Ice breaker, to do that first test BEFORE with those one or twos in attendance.
Then perform the same test at end.
The bugbear is what to eat that demonstrated the effect best, in that limited time frame that isn't something they might just dismiss and go
" yeah, but it's cola and we know to avoid that "
Or something like that.....mmhh?
Thinking hats on, me thinks.

Mostly the meters are given to the surgeries without cost by the manufacturers...the suppliers make their profits on the testing strips so when you see the offer of a free meter (wherever it may be) you need to check the cost of the strips used with it...no meters are not generally prescribed as a matter of course to T2's non-dependent on hypo causing medication or solely diet & exercise...there is the occasional forward thinking practice that may but those are few & far between...I have supplied a few letters to others that wanted to challenge their own CCG's this was an issue that caused great friction on another forum for some unknown reason!interesting debs.
do they now prescribe as a matter of course the meters, or do you think others get refused and have to go the route you did.
(am aware you may not know the answer, just asking )
Sad isnt it, the solution to their money problems is right before their eyes. I self fund too. Fortunately I can manage to although I would prefer not to. At the beginning it cost £30 a month but enabled me to get a good handle on it. I'm waiting for my libre sensor now. Should be here today but probably wait to put it on so I can give demo in my presentation in Sept because I will be reiterating just how important testing is! Obviously libre just one option, a small testing kit a much cheaper option for NHS to fund. But it will show how testing really works. I really should give the demo starting by testing in front of them and eating a slice of wholemeal bread. Then test after but as I've only got 10 mins it would be pointless, but a great excuse to enjoy a forbidden food!!! Hope they dont get my speech before hand, I will be banned!!! I'm such a rebel!
Good heavens gennepher. That was an eye opener for you. I hope he’s doing better now.
My gp didn’t think I needed to keep testing regularly after the initial few weeks to see how it goes. It seems to be a widespread attitude- which we will just have to prove wrong!!
Psssst...it's me bubbsie
Dx July 2016 BG 17.4anyone else want to QUOTE this post and ADD theirs just beneath mine ?
@DebandezI can have 3 slides. Going to include one that show stats for diabetes but need the hardest hitting one of anyone can help.
First one will.be me before and after as I think that will get their attention before I recap my journey.
3rd one I'm not sure, again if anyone has ideas please throw in the pot. Really appreciate any help to get our plight over. It's a fab networking opportunity!!! @Rachox is an ex nurse so might be able to guide us re stats on hba1cs,reversal figures nationally. She is also a mine of info. And when I get chance after I could tweet the question. I've followed as many Drs and HCPs as poss and many have followed me back so you never know your luck. Have to dash

thanks dunelm if my bgs are 6 or under b4 bed i have a digestive biscuit which then keeps me pretty level i am so sensitive to the insulin that if i gave myself less long acting bgs go up into the teens and thats by reducing it by only half a unit and due to insulin sensitivity i have to take metformin (does nothing for my bgs but helps my insulin work more efficiently)so when i hypo my liver doesnt kick in so hypo remains till i wake up which thank god i doBig hug @karen8967 - good drills with the jelly babies. I wonder - sometimes - if bs’s are a tad low in the evening - maybe something like half a Rivita or some such? Mind you, I’m not on meds so might not be as great and illuminating idea as I think.
