What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all.
Off to the health centre for annual diabetic screening. FBG 6.3 mmol at 0615. Hoping for some good stats at the feedback session. This used to be face-to-face with a real doctor, now it is a phone call.
Have a good day.
Hope the screening goes well and you get the results you hope for.

Hope you had fun yesterday Ian. Last time I had that procedure, it seems to have been a laugh a minute for the theatre staff. I was too dozy to follow the jokes. That was quite a while ago and I was just thinking that it has been years since anyone checked if my cancer had come back. Maybe it had been clear for long enough for them to be sure it wasn't going to. Who knows?

Turns out that the jocularity on that occasion was caused by a fire alarm which caused the operating theatre to be evacuated mid procedure. I knew nothing of it, I was so relaxed I had gone to sleep and that was the source of the amusement. It did mean that I was actually awake, albeit still a bit dozy, by the time they actually did get to take their camera shots.

In my opinion, endoscopy at the top end of the system is much worse. They check that fairly frequently - apparently the medication I take can damage the stomach, so they keep an eye on that. I really don't like having that done. It's one of those natural law things - the thing you hate most, is the thing you have to come to terms with.

I do hope the results of the procedure were what you wanted and that you can relax now for a while.

Morning all from a wet and sullen Breckland where Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been ordained as the panacea for the coughs and colds of under fives. The resident nonagenarian is busy on her digital devices: cue Amazon schlepping to the door on the morrow and an astonished plea of not guilty M'Lud/ I never dun nuffink. @True Blue best wishes for the test and result. Good to see you back @Lamont D but hug for the family issues. @alf_Josiah enjoy the piano lesson. @dunelm 8k steps seems fine according to revised guidelines and thanks for sharing the art. @jjraak hug for the closing of that chapter - cue images of Dennis Hopper/sounds of Steppenwolf. Sorry to hear you too had issues. Thanks for the kind words but all due to the working of the Holy Spirit:by myself I'd be curled up in the foetal position howling hysterically - which is the "logical/rational" reaction. @Annb thanks for the thought - the procedure round the back takes place Sunday afternoon and may mean we possibly aren't home until 10..00 pm. That kind of dish was and remains my absolute food hell. Being a spolt only child after 1 try I was excused further suffering but onion roll and something unspeakable called jam rollypolly were family favourites. @Krystyna23040 hug for Mr K but winner for your relaxing week. Yesterday’s camera work was clear just the follow up lab work and a certain amount of passing memory today. Oh yes, enjoy Wednesday.

I like the powerful art bit @dunelm

Grandchildren, wonderful creatures as they are, can be pretty exhausting. But it is such a wonderful experience to have and it passes all too quickly, it is worth the exhaustion.

Fascinating artwork.

Yes, that is true.
Thanks @Annb

I had to go and do a bit of fridge shopping earlier.
I didn't feel like it.
My owings from the chemist still haven't arrived.
Knackered when I got back.
Managed to unload shopping, made flask of tea and came back to bed.
Tried to do this post but kept falling asleep.
I thought it was going to have to be daffodils again for the creative, but like heck am I getting out of this bed and going back out in that foul weather.
Okay, a kaleidoscope again...
C'mon, you can do better than that (no disrespect to kaleidoscopes...)
Half way home I had seen this couple. They were either late parents or grandparents. He was skinny and thin, wearing a hoodie and he was absorbed in his smartphone. She was a little more substantially built, with a navy padded coat on. She was talking to him, but he was not listening. The child was in the pram exposed to the bitter wind and rain, the pram hood did not go over its head...
I barely saw them for a second. I am concentrating on turning left, I see them out of the corner of my right eye.
I told myself I would draw them when I got home...
But I didn't. I unpacked the chilled stuff and went back to bed.
I can't draw them now, I tell brain. It's nearly 5 hours later.
Brain refuses to talk to me.
Okay I'll do it on this piece of lined paper with an edding fine pen, I'll show you it's no use...
Oh...
Brain remembered it for me...
It's passable...
Mmmm...
Okay, new project...
Each time I go out in the car, remember one person or couple, and try and draw them some time later after I get home...

Wildlife nighttime camera
Midnight and Jade are both sat up watching the noises in the garden.
Then the badger comes along...
1min 4secs

Creative is the memory sketch on lined paper.

And I badly need to go back to sleep again ...
Not enough sleep last night, a couple of hours...
Cold again after being out in that foul weather.
Got some fennel tea from the Polish shop someone one suggested for my cough...
Found some very plain biscuits in the Polish shop. English plain biscuits are too sweet and sickly for me.

I am going to go into land of dreams now with a rose scented steam eye mask...

Find your dreams...

Nearly forgot, Fbg was 7.1 this morning, but that is probably a useless figure as I woke up around 2.30 and gave up on sleep...

Lovely sketch and what an interesting challenge you have set yourself. Hope that the fennel tea does the trick.

A quite understandable sense of loss. Those bikes obviously meant a lot to you and were part of your life so it doesn't sound silly at all. It's definitely not the closing of a book, just the start of a new chapter. Lots to look forward to.
Thank you, very true.

Just hard to see at times .

Cheers @dunelm .

Might try some meditation.

@jjraak sorry to read you are giving up being a greaser ( motorcyclist) for the time being, but your logic is sound. Hope all goes well
Cheers greaser.

Sound financial reasons.
Wibbly wobbly wishful ones
& One stonking great "couldn't put her through that, again" one.

A bit James bondy, but never say never...hey...

One for the road ...

Thank you @ianpspurs. All the best with your documentary and hope nothing ends up on the cutting room floor.

Thanks. Documentary #1 went well. Sunday's late, late show via the tradesman's entrance will be a new experience. For anyone who eats LC it seems to require a three day water fast for the evacuation of surrounding areas. Apparently a crisp sandwich - plain, white bread - is a thing of beauty and meets the criteria I have been sent. Scheduling could have been better timed but hey nonny nonny

Just an idea @jjraak
Have you ever tried a floation chamber. Flotation therapy.

Pre Covid and lockdowns I used to go every 2 or 3 weeks. It was expensive but worth it for me. It allowed me and my body total relaxation.
The one I went to closed down. Others are now too far from me.

But in London I would have thought there would be at least one near you.
I could never hear the music they played beginning and end.

I used to do an hour's meditation after the hour floatation session.
Different ones are probably run differently.

EDIT: Liverpool NHS used to give me a 10 (one to one) sessions in the hydrotherapy pool every 6 months because of my severe arthritis.
But when I moved to Wales they would not provide that.
I cannot get in and out of a normal swimming pool unless there are steps.
But a hydrotherapy pool provided in one of the fitness chain of gyms, was very extensive, and really good.
Just ideas...

Really good that the camera work was clear. Hope the lab work is OK also.
