Hard work reorganising.BG at 0430 was 5.1.
Yesterday evening I found another 2 boxes (under the kitchen table) to be found homes for. One is to be rehomed to a charity shop. The other contained a set of cake tins that I bought to make a 4 tiered wedding cake a few years ago and used only that once. If I get rid of them, someone is bound to want to have a 3 or 4 tiered cake made and it would be a waste of fairly expensive cake tins just to get rid of them after one use. They'll have to stay, so I spent some time reorganising my cupboard to get them in. That was around midnight. I had to stay up anyway because I'd put the dishwasher on for a fairly hot wash and it took ages. So - late to bed and about 3 hours sleep. I may crash out again sometime soon.
An idea @SlimLizzy about the shower stool for your mum.29.05

Most of the clearing up after the flood is done. We are still hectically busy though, preparing for our annual start of summer BBQ. Always held first weekend in June.
Of course the flood clear up meant other tasks were neglected, so a lot of weeding, strimming and general tidying needed, in both house and garden.
MrSlim decided to move the 1000l watercube that I had accidentally emptied to a position where it would collect more water. Having moved the ungainly object, levelled it and settled it into its new position, he went to buy the neccessary extra pipes to connect it, only to discover that he had used pipes bought in the UK for the first one and French pipes are a different size. Job deferred. Yesterday I managed to empty, refill and plant three containers. Two of them are concrete troughs and very heavy. Having discovered a veritable cornucopia of snails behind them. It was necessary to pull them out and clean out the mess left behind. It seems that snail poo is an excellent growing medium... for unwanted plants, they were growing more vigorously behind the troughs than inside it. Added the sweepings to the compost bin and when I finally heaved the troughs back left a gap so hopefully it won't become another yet another snail dormitory.
Lined both the window boxes, now I just need to find about 70l of compost for each, my third attempt at growing French marigolds and basil from seed having failed was planning a trip to the local market for these, but put off going by foul weather. Heavy rain and cold too. We are now making contingency plans for indoor BBQ just in case. Hunting out board games. Will we need to light the fire? MrSlim was planning to clean and refurbish it, leaving it unused, ready for next winter.
Must check if a shower stool would be suitable for Mum, it's not practical to install a grabrail in there. There is already a shiny new handrail on the two steps between salon and kitchen. The newly wobbly step outside the back door will have to be fixed as well. We have decided to put warning tape on the one other step into the kitchen and Mum will need escorting up and down the steep irregular stone stairs. Just over three weeks for all preparations for her visit to be completed.View attachment 67929

Marvellously atmospheric creative @gennepher - thank you. Very mysterious story which inspired the work. There's definitely one or more TV series in your adventures.Fbg 6.9
I had to go out this morning to do a bit of food shopping for my fridge. But I was surprised to see by my car a load of what seems like hay/straw. They were rolled into bundles. it wasn't until I came back home but I saw some of the grass verges had been cut and the grass was that long and it's dried into hay. so I am now guessing that the badgers in the night decided to gather the hay for their homes... maybe they were disturbed in the night and so they left it by my car...
Anyway, I left the hay where it was, and if it is still there, tomorrow, I'll move it.
I was tired when I got back, so I've had a very long nap.
And it is absolutely pouring with rain now...

Creative... I tried a couple of attempts to do this tree. It did not work out. I was just a bit too tired to do a line drawing. So I made a black screen on the iPad mini. Put it in SketchClub app and was having a bit of fun taking away, erasing bits of black and this is how this tree formed, it is on the lines of what I wanted so I'm quite pleased with it. It is a bit like a lino cut without all hard work.
Many years ago, I was a long way from home and I took my dog for a walk at dusk. This was about 40 years ago. I went through what looked like a secret archway to where there was a lot of old ancient trees. The sun was setting quickly, but there were still a little bit of light. I am now making my way back to the secret archway because the light is going quickly when someone's finger touched me in my back. I turned around, but there was no one there. Then it happened again. I turned quickly again, but there was nothing near me. The trees were all around me, but they weren't touching me. I walked much more quickly. Then suddenly something really poked me hard in the back. I turned around, and the trees were closing in on me. My dog took fright and ran away and I took fright too. Luckily, when I got back to the car, my dog was there under the car, a quivering mess. I wasn't much better....
I have never forgotten that incident...
Have your best day.
Time for food here....

They are lovely, near white roses and bushy. It was this one that Mrs Miggins wanted - called Malvern Hills - well, we found one so it will go into the garden tomorrow - hope it rains a bit (what am I saying?)
Appreciate that, not too bovvered bout the name, as long as they are nice to look at and smell fragrant for Mrs L.The genus will be Rosa @Lamont D. I have a species Rosa canina agg. plus two cultivars Rosa Mermaid and Rosa Suffolk in flower. All have a delicious scent.
Tuesday's FBG 5.1 mmol/L on waking at 6.00 am.
Good to know that info mate.Fbg 6.9 at 04:49 was awake at 3:15 unable to get back to sleep bit early for coffee or tea.
Had a letter yesterday about the procedure for removing the polyp bit more complicated than I had thought it was going to be have to stop warfarin for five days the replacement blood thinners are injectables then have to juggle things a bit to get back on warfarin.
INR went ok the other day but result was 4.9 supposed to be between 2 and 3 so dosage changed.
Congrats to all who have had birthdays and such recently Hugs to all not having a good time of late.
Am on phone at moment so can only give likes so apologies to those where a like is not really appropriate.
love surprises.I should have a surprise for you later today... @Lamont D
But I haven't drawn it yet...so we shall have to see if this materialises....
watch out for contract changes with new bosses, typically business and the law here.Thank you for your kind wishes @Krystyna23040 . My daughter has been told her job is safe - but having been involved in a takeover myself in very similar circumstances, I have advised her to look for another job. In my case we had all the assurances etc. Then three months later a significant proportion, about 25%, of the workers were sacked. It was a great shock to us all after all the reassurances we had been given.
We have a bath board that fits across the bath, and we both can sit on it, using a hand shower to wash and rinse. We couldn't use a bath chair, the bathroom is too small, but I get a plastic chair. Thinking on we also fill the bath and use a child's four legged plastic stool. Quite common and cheap. An idea @SlimLizzy about the shower stool for your mum.
When I moved here, I bought quite an expensive one from a disabled shop, but I did not find it useful or stable. It has been an expensive white elephant for the last 20 years.
What works for me is plastic garden chair that was left behind by the previous owner, it is white and so it fits in the bathroom nicely and I can sit in it safely and securely while I shower. I am still using it 20 years later.....
Maybe you already have a plastic garden chair that your mum could use?
Love it.Fbg 6.9

An awful lot of work to do. Sounds like gym sessions so all the best with that. My mother has a shower chair and it sits on a non slip mat. That is in a walk in shower. Love the stairs.29.05

That is good advice to your daughter as you cannot trust all those assurances @SlimLizzyThank you for your kind wishes @Krystyna23040 .
