Lasted about half an hour, then cloudy and shortly after that heavy rain shower. The slugs are loving this wet weather, this morning evicted half a dozen from the greenhouse, thought I was done, then the rain started and about ten more slugs appeared. Most of them the Normandy specials - orangey brown and about two inches long with huge appetites. Trimming back outside the greenhouse now a priority job.

We love the stairs too, but they are definitely a hazard for anyone not entirely stable.

And not believed if your not getting million £+ bonuses, cos you're just thick or a liar.

But get the bonus and it's because, 'i didn't take much notice, it only affected the little people '

And seeing as you'll likely get you doors kicked in, by the thought police over the ied, I thought I'd join you and mention it might be time to polish up madame guillotine, worked wonders first time round ....mmm.

Definitely is January out there, I have a frozen posterior with getting wheelie and recycle out there, and I am back in bed trying to warm up...

An unimpressive but acceptable (for now ) 6.7

Awoke early hours, heart pounding.

Awful dream , about being trapped in a cave tunnel, water rushing in after a cave in (I think) and while debating whether to dive under and try swimming out, not knowing how far the tunnel would be flooded for,

I spot a tentacle in the distance in the water, reaching around in amongst the fallen rocks, looking to all intents & purposes like it's hunting something....

Rock and hard place comes to mind.

So I wake up in a cold sweat, light on, & try making sense of it.

I had an awful experience immediately after the bike accident, where mad as it sounds I thought I died.

Made my peace with that, said my goodbyes etc, (in my unconscious state)

And was left (at the accident site ) in the darkest of voids, literally nothing but darkness surrounding me.

After regaining consciousness and much brain racking trying to make some sense of what happened....

I ended up with the belief, the 'light' 'heaven' ...'whatever' was simply denied me as it wasn't my time .

And the 'Darkness' was just the space in-between 'here' and 'there'....
And that made 'Dying' while unwanted, seem less daunting ....simple, right .


Then wham bam, after I woke up after the dream.....the chimp sat on my shoulder, and quietly whispered in my shell like....'what IF '

What IF....that darkness was ALL there was ? because that's what hell looks like .....simply looking at nothing for eternity & quietly going mad.

....OMG, chimp.... nooooo....

Trying to shake off the gloominess of THAT vision took most of the wee hours.

Ok now tho'.

The chimp paradox - the particles in your head may be in two or even more places at the same time. We had a blackout in town at about 10pm - so just went to bed. Strange dream about being in a bike group and encountering a very narrow and unstable downhill sloping tunnel through a mountain. “Just keep it in 2nd and feather the back break.” - Was that the chimp or someone else. Out of the other side and down a steep bank and then into a large hall with a parquet floor. A small fire in the centre sprung into life - then woke up - bedside light had re-ignited. My own thought is that dreams are meaningless and just our brains not knowing the difference between sleep and awake. I think that somewhere inside, the chimp has different ideas. Never mind, nothing I can do about it so not worth pondering over.
After thought: action of GABA transmission by the pontine gigantocellular field in the base of our nugget keeps us from moving during sleep (unless faulty) so perhaps it’s just the pre-frontal cortex that get’s confused - who know - why do I remember this stuff from university? Must take up high earning opportunities in order to not remember.

The last one I have of the little bluetit, and then it's back to badgers & foxes...
Between all the recent bluetit and sparrow videos, they have had a few thousand views, so hopefully they have given joy to some people...
And I have had a few problems uploading etc, and I felt like giving up on these videos. I very nearly did. But analytics tell me people are watching the whole videos more than once. So, it is worthwhile continuing, hopefully to bring a little lightness into a person's day. We all need this, especially in these times.

Creative...no time this morning for thinking about a drawing/painting so done a kaleidoscope! The badger in it is a soft toy J bought me, well before I moved here to be plagued by badgers...more than 30 years ago...it actually holds memories of that day - conversations and where we ate that day...

The reason I don't have time for thinking about something else is I am researching DNA. This person in Arizona has given me some pointers on how to understand my DNA results in Ancestry and actually where to look for some comparisons. I was ready to give up this Ancestry/DNA lark, especially with the information that my mother that brought me up is absolutely no relation to me (which was actually a shock to have that genetically confirmed) and some further information. The only information I have on my birth mother is what my cousin/brother told me at J's funeral in the church. And at the end of the day that is only what my cousin/brother was told or understood about me, and even that still may not have been the truth.

I have been researching how to interpret my Ancestry DNA results, reading about genetics, molecular genetics, and a whole pile more. I am the stupid idiot child where at school I was not allowed to do biology, science, chemistry etc, because it was assumed I would not understand it, so even now I am missing some basic knowledge of this stuff. There are enough children's pictorial books (I learn best with pictures, and when graphic novels are used for instruction), out there now, and this morning I have been reading more scientific books on this subject. There's plenty on the Internet Archive. But you can only borrow a book for an hour at a time...fortunately I can speed read...

So, my interests are elsewhere the next few days until I get a grip on this subject.

I am wondering if this is not a search for self identity now.
I have worked through a whole pile of emotions as regards who my parents were, and in itself that is probably not important any more.

Back to reading and studying and a cuppa tea.

Lovely kaleidoscope. I like graphic novels and have used them to great success when students were trying to get their heads round GCE English - especially Shakespeare plays.

My 'dying' experience was 30 years ago.
I am in a dark tunnel.
There is a small pinpoint of beautiful light at the end of the tunnel. I am in an open coach with a team of horses, and a coachman who is whipping those horses to go faster and faster to get to the light in time. But the light at the end of the tunnel closed, and darkness fell. And the coachman had to turn round and bring me back.
It wasn't what I wanted.
It still makes me cry now that I couldn't get to the light in time. It was so beautiful...

So, I believe there is beautiful light on the other side...

I bought a load in the 1990's, of graphic novels when I was trying to learn stuff....they are brilliant...
 
Morning all from LA where spring has been cancelled for now. Something to do with Brussels bureaucrats but things can only get better. No fbg but last test was from bloods on Tuesday and was 3.5 from the 8.20 sample. Allowing for the possible .5 degradation? due to delay twixt sampling and lab testing it could have been 4. @dunelm and @gennepher thank you for sharing your different but equally wonderful art. Dreams seem to be a hot topic here today. Quite rare for me to have dreams and I can't remember any distressing ones but hugs for those who are plagued by them. @Annb hug for Em and I hope leg day goes well. @Krystyna23040 salted caramel ice cream seems to be a good choice for the go to rare treat for you. Good news. @jjraak hug for dream and memories. Day two of four grandchildren and possibly cricket this evening. Enjoy Thursday.
