I do believe that practice dsns are still being taught that being cautious about lowish BG levels, are the best way to keep you from going hypo. That is why above normal levels for those on insulin is recommended.BG finally got down into the 5's. It's been higher than I wanted all day because I did as the nurse asked and dropped my basal insulin from 54u to 48u since Friday morning. To keep it even in the 9's over the weekend, I've had to take extra bolus insulin. I don't like that and I don't want to do it. The nurse thinks it's dangerous for me to be at pre-diabetes levels, which I was.
I just don't get it. I'm going my own way, unless someone can explain to me why it's dangerous. All the nurse says is that at that level I'm at risk of hypos. At her preferred level I'm at risk of hypers so I'm not accepting that. I want to be at normal levels, not even pre-diabetes. I could pop off any time, of course, who knows? But I could have another 10 or so years in me and I would prefer to be as near normal as possible. Of course, I appreciate that no-one in our family is "normal" - all a bit odd one way or another. DIL bought Alistair a tee shirt announcing "You wouldn't understand it, it's a {family name} thing. She's not wrong!
Thanks @Lamont D. It's good to "hear" someone say something sensible about it.I do believe that practice dsns are still being taught that being cautious about lowish BG levels, are the best way to keep you from going hypo. That is why above normal levels for those on insulin is recommended.
you know your own body better and have the experience to be able to monitor your BG levels, so you don't go hyper or hypo.
Cos of my RH, that is me, and it's better for me in normal levels than having spikes or hypos.
Take care.
Best wishes.
Huge hug for that @Lamont DMrs L duties, who had another fall, when I turned my back, she stood up without support, pulled curtains off rail, so I had to fix that and check Mrs L over. Behave you lot!
Mrs L is ok.
On the other hand, Mrs L has been chatting away about nothing sensible or English I think, at one point it was complete gibberish with a Scouse accent, or it could have been Polish!I
I think since I was diagnosed I have always h had an open mind trying to find how I'm going to get my health back and not be dead, before my time. This involved a lot of discovery of what is best for me and my tastes. Thanks @Lamont D. It's good to "hear" someone say something sensible about it.
Yamas to you my friend.Huge hug for that @Lamont D
Very upsetting all round.
I did find my mum was very prone to water infections, which upped her confusion tremendously.
Easily sorted once doctors aware
Just thought I'd mention.
Hope Mrs L isn't hurting too much after the fall.
And I hope the rail replacement wasn't too taxing.
Kalanicta (at some point)
For now, Yamas my friend .

A pity about the pub @dunelm. They could have spruced up the inside without doing away with the18thC features which were part of its charm.Good morning everyone on what just might be another shorts and t shirt day here in the dark and dangerous north. Pretty restless night - up and down like a yo-yo in the world yo-yo competition. No point testing this morning as the meter may display something rude. Down onto the lower promenade quite early yesterday, before the crowds. Sat outside The Ship for a koffy, watching the surfers. The pub folk have now re-installed metal railings on top of the sea wall after getting the hint when spring tides demolished their nice new wooden fence a couple of times. It was metal railings for years before the pub was taken over by Green King last year and ‘done up’. Still 18thC on the outside but the inside now looks like the inside of any number of ghastly theme pubs. I have a cabbage to use up today so will sauté it with onion, garlic, chilli flakes and coriander and freeze in portions. We can re-heat, give it a squeeze of lime, top with some feta and pretend that we are in Corfu. Art bit, a gnarly bit of tree. Hope your day includes at lest two smiles. Best get some koffy on the go.
I want to give you hug and winner @alf_JosiahMorening all
Blood sugars this morning were 6.6
Early start today I have to get Mrs J up and running for a visit to the fracture clinic, why am I thinking about that controversial gas and oil drilling method, ah the word fracking or fracture. Plot lost big time.
Stay safe all.
Not had the plot for a long, long time!I want to give you hug and winner @alf_Josiah
You deserve both...
I am blaming the solar flares at the weekend, resetting the electrics on my central heating, resetting the electrics on the car...and resetting me...yup me lost the plot too....
Thank you very much @ianpspursMorning all on frez up yer ninny (© Mrs R.E.D. P aka my mum) Tuesday in L.A. No known fbg but it would be interesting as my souped up immune system has gone rogue and large blisters erupt without notice. I'm less skin covered than wound dressing covered. Fortunately JKP trained as a nurse, there are none in delicate areas and Amazon deliver - not sure about other offal. Since Saturday I can really only wear a sock on my left foot due to a cluster of goodies, several dressings and a bandage. so step count is minimal. We all have different crosses to bear so no hugs please. My treatment team are aware and the big picture is that last scan showed a stable disease. I'm taking a break from drip trip this time. @alf_Josiah I hope Mrs A. J. had a positive visit to the fracture clinic. @gennepher what a strange story of rage. Thank you for that magnificent sketch. Two grandchildren here later - the Little Guy ™ and his Big sister, England playing cricket (should win that one) so there's all the hugs and blessings a man could ever need. Take care, don't over do the yamas and peace be with you.
Just googled them - energy company.6.9 at 0630 today. Very tired so went back to sleep in the chair until about 09.30. BG up a bit by then, but had breakfast and insulin and it's down into the 5's now, which is where I want it. Put my basal insulin up to 50u from the 48 the nurse wants me to use and I think I will be more comfortable with that, but we'll see how it goes.
Had a letter today from an organisation called "OVO" telling me that they have my data and explaining how it is safe with them. Never heard of OVO so why do they have my data? The letter wasn't addressed properly - no name, just the house number and the Postcode. There is one mention of energy efficiency at the bottom of the first page so I wonder if it is something to do with our new heating system, or just some kind of junk/scam. Not sure what to do about it at the moment.
