Too busy.
Overwhelmed with the kids and grandkids generosity with it being dad's day.
Hope all the dads on here have a decent and wonderful day.
Only second child and #2 & #4 missing on parade.
Been on the footie pitches playing in the sunshine, that actually got to a decent temp.
Well about 17degrees.
But the wind kept it down. No rain.
So it's been really great to have them all together.


Do you know under floor heating was very common in Roman times, even the Greeks and other Mediterranean areas and northern people's, had a similar way of heating houses.
In the last few hundred years here, the architecture just don't even consider something which will be so cost effective.
Then there is the system that generated heat to radiators from a central point, that used the ovens and cooking heat to heat the house. So only one fire was needed from a central point at the lowest point of the house, as kitchens were. Even roofs, were designed to keep heat in. The walls and floors also.
Roman homes were designed for heat and cold.
There was no gas or electric heaters.
Until the 20th century, did this type of heating come about, and people relied on coal for fires.
This caused the fogs and smogs of the pea soupers in the 40s, 50s, 60s.
Even, most countries design their buildings far better for hundreds of years much better than the UK.

Have not kept up with the sport. But I will watch Engerland.

Actually the day did improve and I took Poppy for a lovely long walk along the paths that wind through our village. I have managed also to do a lot of relaxing and reading and drinking rather too much coffee and a lovely long chat with daughter in Toronto and daughter in Surrey.
A perfect day.

That's right @Krystyna23040, @gennepher and @JohnEGreen.

Most of us here would have been immunised with an attenuated vaccine and a single dose was required. It was thought to provide protection for at least 5 years.

About 6 months ago, a new shingles vaccine was made available. This one's a non-live, inactive vaccine administered in two doses. It is said to provide protection for life.

Good morning everyone from yet another damp squib start to the long weekend here in the dark and dangerous north. We like the long weekends (Mon-Fri) - children at school, people at work or nicking stuff so less crowded when playing at being a tourist. A warm, if blustery day in Whitby yesterday and less people about than we anticipated. Lunch in a cafe called Jet Black Jewel. Mrs Miggins is out today with her sister and a couple of their pals so it will be a mainly unsupervised day. Art bit - a forlorn tree. Hope your day is a bit warmer than it is here at present - brrrh! Best make some koffy and hold the mug with both hands.

5.9 at 03.30 today. Haven't checked since but no alarms from the Libre, so it has neither gone too high nor too low.

Em has gone on a school trip to Achnasheen - left at 05.00 to meet with the rest of her class at the ferry terminal. She was excited but suddenly dropped her cheerful mood and told me she was frightened. What of? Being away from home. I reminded her that she would be with teachers that she knew and with her class mates. "But they're not family. My Mum won't be there!" There was real panic in her voice. She's still going though, with gritted teeth. It's actually only for 3 days, so she'll survive but she suddenly seemed so young and vulnerable.

Don't know what the attraction of Achnasheen is. Last time I was there, all it had to offer was clouds of midges. Worst place I've ever been for the little monsters.

Well, I am now at the hospital, for 8:00 am...
Not a parking space for anyone. Hundreds of cars driving in a perpetual loop for non existent spaces. Car parks at gridlock.

My appointment is for 11:30 am.

Two hours of driving round and round, and the gridlocks in the car parks taking longer and longer to get out of, and there is now real danger of my car being damaged because tempers are very high.it was now now 10 am.

S*D it, I said to myself. Came out of the hospital car park, drove back to the Expressway, to the Marble Church.It was spitting rain. I didn't check if there were any parking restrictions, I didn't care at this point, I did put my blue badge in the windscreen. It is a public highway, the parking for the church, so legally the car cannot get towed away. Worst I'll get is a fine. And that will be far cheaper than the £140 quoted by taxi firms ..I 'll find out when I get back

Set my scooter up, the battery is 8 years old, fully charged, but what is the range now? As long as it gets me to the hospital, then I'll have to hitch a ride on a car transporter to get back to the car...

The mobility scooter got to the hospital...I was wearing a large bright yellow poncho, blowing behind me, to cover me and scooter from rain ...I felt I was ready to take off...

I decided I deserved a second breakfast. Eating that now....

Then clean myself up! And off to book in for my appointment...

And I haven't even started the stress of this appointment which I have been fighting for, for nearly 8 years now.

So I was going to attend this appointment by hook or by crook ...

Next appointment I will get here for 6 am....
