What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Hi @Annb
Thanks.
If I can't do something creative, no matter how ill or bad I feel, then there is no hope for me....
Thankyou for the kaleidoscope compliment. I appreciate that.

My dog always sat on the mobility scooter with me @LivingLightly ....

That would annoy me. It's the same here, but I don't see smoke, but I can certainly smell it and it catches my throat @LivingLightly

That is great they contact you in advance, otherwise it could be wasting everyone's time.
All these different systems/routines to get your meds.
I am glad it works out for you how they provide your med service @JohnEGreen

Good afternoon everyone. 5.5 this am and then things to do. Dad not very well - not eating and not doing too well with the protein shakes that have been prescribed. My brother is on his way home after visiting and I am flying out on Monday. So, placed a prescription order first thing this morning and added a note to ask for it to be hastened.
Walked down to GP surgery (belt and braces) -informed that I need to phone the GP surgery number and choose option 2, the prescription team (they have a prescription team!!!)
Option 2 - you are 20, 005 in the queue - wait, wait, wait. OK, your prescription is in with the GP now and should be signed by lunch time.
Wandered round to cafe.
Text message 20 minutes later - prescription signed and sent electronically to pharmacy.
Wandered round to pharmacy - yes it’s just come in on our system.
Good - can I collect it tomorrow - yes, after 10am.
Must be something in the water (bromide perhaps) - will it work as smoothly again? Who knows. For now though I am rich beyond compare in the GP department - wonder if their new, flash, all singing, all dancing 8am lottery telephone appointment booking system will work as well. Also noticed that we now have a keypad thing to book yourself into the surgery rather than queuing to let the receptionist know that you have arrived for your appointment.
Into Sainsbury to buy the old boy a pack of their Kenya tea and then home.
Art bit - sketch of the fjord at Flåm.
“Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen nineteen and six , result happiness.
Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery”

― Charles Dickens, David Copperfield.
May your expenditures in life be always light of incomes.

Every age is an insecurity from the previous, I think @dunelm

Thank you...

I have some Epsom salts....I should use them...

Blimey, that art bit would have me falling asleep doing all that detail....

Congratulations on winning the prescription lottery @dunelm

Thank you @gennepher - it took several sessions over a few days. My fingers seize up after a while.
I would never manage to finish that one, my fingers would seize up forever...
By the way, I knew someone who had those protein shakes. Whenever I visited, he would add a generous helping of whiskey to them, said they were un drinkable otherwise.
I hope your journey and visit to your parents goes well @dunelm

Fbg 7.6 not taking it again today, waste of strips. I know it was stress and everything yesterday. I'll just eat my normally today (give my poor finger a holiday) and see what it is in the morning.

I was just looking at a 15 year old photograph....so put it in kaleider to see what would happen. Blimey, it did very surreal things with arms and heads. Very scary. Deleted them. This is the 'nice' one that came from that...

Have a good day...

Who does she think she is?
I mean, privilege only goes so far.
The whole island and in particular you @Annb have a day completely ruined.
Why isn't she treated like any day tripper.
What is this country coming to?

'Twas ever thus. @Lamont D. It was a bit of an inconvenience this morning, but other people were happy and excited at the visit, so no harm done. Mind you - when Donald Trump paid a visit to his ancestral home (just up the road from here) a lot of people were happy and excited as well. Also inconvenient to some - and less well received by others. When Prince Charles, as he was then, made visits to the Island, it was done quietly, with no fuss so that most people didn't know he had been and gone.

Sorry to hear your Dad is not very well. Here's hoping you find him a bit better. Does the protein shake come in different flavours? The ones Tom used to have came in fruit flavours, some of which he quite liked.

Whiskey or something might make the shakes more acceptable. We should have tried that with Tom but never thought of it. He used to enjoy his "little nippy sweetie".

Thanks @gennepher - yes, these protein shakes are difficult. Our nephew had them (he had Cystic Fibrosis) and could not drink enough of them due to their massive calorie load and so ended up with a peg.

I know having Princess Ann coming to the island will cause a smidge of disruption but if you get to talk to her, ask her about Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pies - it’s one of her go to foods - I kid you not. I have sat next to her twice at dinner engagements and she is a smashing person. OK, I know some folk don’t like the idea of a constitutional monarchy but I don’t like politicians and yet lots of folk seem to fall over themselves to vote them in even though they are only out for themselves no matter what flag they fly under.

@gennepher thank you for sharing another wonderful kaleidoscope - as George said, turned out nice again. Also, thanks for yesterday's after that Wednesday horribilis. @dunelm shame about the discomfort in your hands but thank you for sharing that splendid art. Sorry to hear about your dad - will he listen to words of wisdom from your brother or yourself? MIL is adept at feigning complete innocence when JKP reminds her what doctors have advised, especially over fluid intake. And yet, and yet she's made it to 4 months shy of 95.

Thank you @ianpspurs

7.0, no carbs, fasting day, omad, but it will not go down!
Lots to do today, but got through it all and managed some garden time and watching cricket on the box.
Until #8 came around, and has completely knackered me out.
And Mrs L was aroused from her nap, the little ratbag had both of us bowing to his needs.
Fun!

It is sunny but not too warm. There is a coastal breeze that is keeping in mid teens temperature.
And to put on my hoodie on, playing on the grass on the footie field.

And guess who has turned up over the road. A power company van, drilling for something in their driveway.
And further down the road, another van doing gardening work I think!
And someone mowing.
And the youth club having a disco.
Noise, I really love noise, trying to sit or watch cricket. Really......!

Root, brilliant.

Kitchen duties to do.
Hopefully, be around later.

My best wishes to you lot as always.
