What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

That looks really good, Ian. Lucky you.

Just back from my 2 appointments in town. Feet feeling much better now and I've discovered that the podiatrists do home visits. I'll make use of that service in future. Optomotrist says my eye problem is something she had difficulty pronouncing and which I couldn't catch. It wasn't ocular myasthenia but the symptoms are the same. Nothing to be done but keep an eye on it. When my eyelids droop so far that I can't see round them, they might intervene surgically. That, of course, might never happen. Also have little cataracts in each eye but nothing to worry about yet. Getting off lightly really.

BG seems to be remaining at reasonable levels today - in the 4-7 range.

All I can say is thank goodness for that as in a lot of cases such as mine ocular myasthenia tends to progress to generalised myasthenia and that is a real bind.
I have found out recently that MG effects hearing and can damage the cochlea I had blamed my hearing loss on the damage done when in the airforce but could not understand why it had been getting progressively worse over time for at least a year I have been depending on subtitles now I know why.
I was at one point offered the option of having my eyelids sewn to my eyebrows but must admit did not fancy that.

I am drop dead exhausted.
I went out to get my meds this morning, but the assistant couldn't find the prescription. I am sitting on the seat on my walker. Finally a hour later they said, you'll have to go to the surgery and ask the receptionist for another.
Not a chance I said, I have already been to one shop, parked the car near the pharmacy, walked to the pharmacy, and my feet are hurting badly. And I now have sciatica with sitting on my walker seat which is not meant to be sat on for an hour, just a few minutes.

Then someone found my prescription, it was in the wrong pile she said. B%££%@ks, I said (under my breath). We'll put it in the pending pile now. I glared at her, you've had this prescription for over a week, it should have been made up by now, ready to hand to me.(Normally I get a text saying my meds are ready, I subscribed to that service, but this time the text was a few days late, even taking into account the bank holiday, and so I had to go down to find out where it was since I cannot telephone to do so). Pharmacist pipes in, I'll do it now she said. Would you like to sit down, she says, it'll be half an hour. No chance I said, if I sit on this walker seat another half hour, I'll be totally unable to move. (They've had no chairs since Covid and lockdowns, and refuse to provide them again). I'll be back in half an hour. We'll have it ready for you then pharmacist says.

I went back to the car, but I am already too tired, my legs and feet hurt. I had to move the car because it wasn't in a designated parking spot as there were no spaces in the surgery car park and I was in the way a bit. Came back 3/4 hour later. No parking spaces by now, so I create one, I can barely do any more walking.

Just a few more minutes they said. We're awfully sorry they said. And there are 4 owing. Come back tomorrow and see if we've got them. No chance I said, I need a day to recover all this. Next week , I said.

I get home.

The two cars parked opposite sides of road outside mine, were still parked opposite each other. It was very difficult to get out of my driveway earlier because I just couldn't just turn out of my driveway or I'd have clipped the rear end of my neighbour's car (Mr Insensitive). I had to manoeuvre, to straighten up, so I could drive through the inadequate gap. And even then my wing mirrors only had an inch or two from the parked cars each side.

It looked like there was something going on between the two neighbours...

I got my stuff out of the car, but I was accosted in my driveway by a virtually non-English speaker, who produced a card which was so badly printed, it was impossible to read. Sorry, I can't hear you, I'm deaf. But he keeps talking. I am not opening my house door, and where is a neighbour when you need one? No one walked past. I tell him to go, but he is very persistent. Give me your card and I will photograph it, I said thinking that might scare him to go. No no he said, and put it in his pocket quick. I could make out the first name which was Hamish, or Hameen or something. I was repeating it in my head, but I had too much to deal with here, and I was exhausted. I manage to get my stuff inside my gate and lock the gate, but he is still instistent. Go, I shout at him...Leave, I shout. I cannot tell one word of what he was talking about. He leaves, and I make sure he is out of sight, then I unlock my door, and get my stuff in quickly and lock up. By this time I don't have one scrap of energy left. I fell asleep on my bed. I woke up at 6pm.

Oh no, I have to get recycle ready for tomorrow 7 am. I am too tired and in any case the two cars are still parked opposite each other, and the bin men won't come in this close, if they are like that in the morning, happened before. Both cars have extensive driveways to park on.

I leave the recycle and go straight back to sleep again. My feet and ankles are killing me. I woke up just now, 9 pm, and I am trying to keep awake, because I have not drunk anywhere enough fluids today, because I was out, and then asleep when I came home...and you get a long post on my day...

I don't think I can drink any more...I am trying to eat a tangerine, not had anything since breakfast. Was too tired to do anything.

Another wasted day...and it is going to take me tomorrow to recover, and I hope H , whatever his name is, doesn't come back, Or I will call the police. I have a text number I can use...never tried it yet....

Creative...I am scraping the bottom of the barrel here....this is my hand held cleaning steamer in Kaleider...

Any typos will have to wait until morning...

Hope your day was better than mine....

under those types of circumstances, you need to find or get your surgery to recommend a pharmacy that delivers.
Mrs L and myself have had our meds delivered since pre covid.
I can't believe that there is no such services where you are!

I can't comment on the neighbours, we have good ones and bad ones. The rough with the smooth.
And there are signs for cold callers.
I'm sure he couldn't understand you either.
Get rest, get sorted, tomorrow will be a better day.

@gennepher Big hugs for such a rotten day just rest up tomorrow and let the world go by.
I have found that it never matters how long a pharmacy has had a prescription when you go to collect it you always have to wait 20 minutes to half an out for them to make it up.
Yesterday had a phone call person on the other was trying to sell me a deal on my phone contact I think I could not understand hardly a word so I said I can’t understand you I am partly deaf so put it in writing and send it to me and hung up.

Attached is the Burnt Basque Cheesecake the Food Fairy made me - timetable changed due to a poorly dog - . A portion is 1/8 and analysis here. Haven't tasted it yet but 'twas @dunelm put the idea in my head so ...... The FF is now talking about getting the ice cream maker out to make (LC) strawberry ice cream to accompany the cheesecake. Tough old gig. Grandchildren in the hot tub so a good end to school holidays with us for the two oldest and all four spending time together is the best treatment for me. Always a feeling of missing those "lost" in Winchester.
The cheesecake looks amazing. Hope your poorly dog is ok now.

If you remember, I had a kerfuffle with fraud, the biggest and best advice was never to accept phone calls or do deals over the phone. Ask them to email or use the snail mail.
I have recently, maybe four months changed my phone service provider. And I get a good deal on it.
But they insist on calling me to offer deals.
And the first thing I say is no change on deal. And put the phone down.
You can't trust the cold calls.
Best wishes mate.

What an awful day, Gennepher. I can't understand why people make life so difficult for others. General lack of imagination or concern, I suppose. But despite all that you went through today, you went to the trouble of making that image. Amazing that you can even make a striking image from a hand held steamer.

I've had that happen a few times, the mobility scooter died on me, despite full batteries @JohnEGreen and I had to push it back to the car. Exhausted. Now, I don't trust the scooter....I just use it for local shops...no expeditions where I used to carry a snack and a flask of tea...my current one is about 8 years old....next one will have a lithium battery....these conventional batteries too heavy to carry. But many of the lighter weight mobility scooters don't have a key
The trials and tribulations of everyday life @gennepher and @JohnEGreen.

I had always imagined a mobility scooter was the way to travel. One of my neighbours walks his dog while riding one. His dog seems happy with the arrangement.

Wednesday's FBG 4.5 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

It was a beautiful day here in London; blue skies, warm sunshine, but not too hot and the wind, which seems to be a feature of our weather now, had abated.

Unfortunately, we have weird neighbours who must burn things when the weather is nice, so opening up windows once it's cooled down outside, lets in smoke!

There is a delivery service at this one @Lamont D but I never know the day they are delivering. I am often out doing my chilled foods shopping. They don't text in advance of the delivery. I asked. If I don't answer the door in time (which often happened, I am slow in moving) then the meds go back to the pharmacy, where they sit and wait for me to to collect them, but I didn't know that a delivery of my meds had been attempted. And I am constantly looking out of the window for them. It was a heck of a faff, tiring, and a time waster. A neighbour offered to take the meds in, but the delivery gentleman refused saying he had to hand them to me.

Finally I gave up on the home delivery. And now wait for the text to say they are ready. And I go down and pick them up. My meds, and other people's meds are all bagged up, and waiting on the counter for collection. There is normally no waiting now while your meds are made up, because they don't like you hanging about in this pharmacy, hence no chairs are provided. The system works well now, unless they lose your prescription...

Normally @JohnEGreen this pharmacy (after trialling different systems, they did have a delivery, it was an elderly gentleman who delivered, but that stopped anyway at the beginning of Covid and never resumed), settled on the system they have now. Repeat prescriptions are made up, put in a carrier bag, placed on the back counter, and a text is sent to the patient/recipient, and I drive down immediately I get that text. And I am literally handed my bag of meds the moment I walk in, as is everyone else. My surgery is a doctorless surgery still, with usually or maybe a couple of nurses who are able to prescribe meds, so there are very few people who walk in this pharmacy with a prescription to be made up there and then.

Thanks, I will be resting up today ...

Fbg this morning 7.6 at 5.00 am don’t know where that came from maybe I’m more stressed out about the prospect of the drive Down to Warwick for the funeral than I realised.
@gennepher they started delivering my repeat prescriptions after I got Covid so only have to go to pharmacy when have one off prescriptions and sometimes even those are delivered mind you you the pharmacy is only a ten minute walk if that from my house and it’s next to the surgery so it’s not a problem though I can’t manage the walk myself it’s either scooter or wheelchair these days the meds for my Pulmonary Fibrosis can only be prescribed by the the team at City hospital and are delivered by a company they use as pharmacies don’t carry them the people who deliver them always phone to say when they are coming all in all I have it pretty easy.

“Surely, no age has been more fraught with insecurity than our own present time." (Sir Austen Chamberlain). His brother was prime minister so the quote was probably stolen! Thanks for taking the time to present another of your smashing kaleidoscopes. Epsom salt foot soak and some TLC perhaps.

6.2 this morning.
Yesterday I finally have gone through the training video (thank goodness) and have written 32 pages of neat notes. Now I can look at how to incorporate the new stuff in.my teaching.

Had what felt like a million emails from class members wanting to book holidays or swap around classes in September. All sorted.

My sister has almost finished the end of year accounts - which is brilliant as my end of year is end of July. Our accountant will be really happy getting then so early.

Happy national bin day fellow posters and painters.

A 5.7 on blood sugar meter this morning

Blue skies above Tilehurst Towers at the moment, the birds are singing, in fact it looks a glad to be alive day. Bet the previous sentence will put the kybosh (or how ever you spell the word) on the rest of the day…….All ways look on the bright side of life.

Have a great day all , smile, grin and go placidly amongst the noise etc.

Just back from the leg bandaging and vaccination. It had to be early today because Princess Ann is coming to the Island to open various things and everywhere will be closed to traffic and some places closed to people. Anyway, all done, including a little bit of shopping and the rest of the day is free. Neil is for bed again with a hot water bottle on his sore back and I am for my big chair to get my feet up. That may not take up all of the rest of the day, but we'll see.

Both of my hands have improved so that, though still painful, it is mostly bearable and so I can use them a bit. I guess it was the peeling of the peanuts that caused it.

BG at 03.20 today was 5.3. Still only in the 6's.
