What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Aaarh! I never scream - never have; don't know how. But the thought of that got me screaming inside.

Thankfully, help was at hand and you were finally able to get to bed.


Monday's FBG, 4.3 mmol/l on waking at 6.00 am.

Good morning everyone from a damp squib of a start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. The rain is due to cease in about an hour so we are going to catch the bus to Whitby and have a wander round. Might even tackle the 199 steps up to St Mary’s Church if we feel energetic. Are the small and discretely placed counters every 10 steps really there for encouragement or just for torture? Sometimes I wish that I didn’t know that they were there - but once seen… Anyhow, take your views round to Arguments Yard. Art bit - wet on wet. Hope your day includes you in it. I shall drink my koffy and ponder as what to do with the cauliflower that I bought yesterday.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, now that greeting is polite.
Yes I can do polite, but not very often.

My blood sugars this morning were 5.4 insert a full stop if you wish, eye choose not two.
Spelling is optional and the engrish language when written is very confusing four dullards such as me, me’s and myself. Enough of this twaddle.

Here in Tilehurst Towers, the day is uncharted, but a brief outline is forming. Me, me’s and myself will be unsupervised most of today and later again this evening. One word will sum up my thoughts, mischief.

For those of a poetic nature a poem from my dim and distant childhood has entered my something or other

Yesterday was such a good day. Lovely having be I much time to do the studying then the reading and relaxing between the classes and I got a free coffee after my meal - which was a really nice surprise.

Must answer some emails but perhaps a coffee first
 
Morning all from what has turned into a pleasant valley Tuesday here in L.A. No Monkee business nor known fbg here. In broad terms today will be a repeat of yesterday which suits me just fine. @dunelm thank you for sharing the autumnal art and information on that area of Whitby. Enjoy the trip and cauliflower. @alf_Josiah cherish but be sensible with that freedom. Poor Mrs A J has enough with which to deal. I wish you all well.
 
5.5 at 05.00 today. That's better. Cold still hanging on, but much diminished.

Finally getting to see a GP today - only 6 weeks after I started trying to get an appointment, so I shouldn't complain. It's actually a student (well, a doctor doing GP practice, I think), supervised by a time served GP. All I need is the results of the various tests that have been done, the implications of those results and a way forward, if there is one. No physical examination needed so I don't know that I am much of a training opportunity - perhaps just in "bedside manner". I will have to ask for the long words in writing so I can remember them and look them up. I know there is one at least - the opthalmologist tried to pronounce it and gave up but said she would put it in the report to my GP.

FBG 4.9 This morning.
Tomatoes have been ripening in the kitchen and it's time to do something with them.
Have been using my friends dehydrator and now have a small box of shrivelled cherry tomatoes. The plan is to put them in jars with oil. Have previously used olive oil, but that goes solid in the fridge so this year have some cold pressed sunflower oil. Might make a blend. Want to add herbs for extra flavour. Have got parsley, thyme and oregano in the garden. Sadly basil is all finished. Too wet and cold for it to survive.
The large tomatoes are to be made into pasta sauce, along with the few peppers i managed to grow.
If it is dry enough I would like to cut the grass, Again! Sunny this morning, but thunderstorm and heavy rain last night. Possibility of more rain today. Of course.
 
Big mistake. I should have started my herb flavoured oil at least a week ago. Now I think the only way is to put a pinch of dried herbs in each pot. Fresh herbs need to steep for at least a week and then be strained out before the oil can be used. Would the dried tomatoes last that long in the fridge?
The dripping kitchen tap has got worse, Now it is very fast, almost a constant stream. Kiki noticed it today and was catching the drips on her paw to drink. But she didnt want water in her bowl. However I have discovered if it is turned to hot that slows it down considerably, presumably that reduces the pressure.

Back from my GP appointment. It was just the student GP with no supervising GP. I got most of the information I was looking for. Mostly, there's nothing to be done, just keep an eye on it - that's my eyes and my general low level of health which they think is a mitochondrial disorder. Makes sense but since there's nothing to be done, I just have to get on with it. The doctor tried to get some blood for a blood test to make a start on confirming that, but failed - no blood forthcoming. She's going to ask the nurse to try again on Thursday.

What I would have thought they would have mentioned to me before this was the result of kidney function test. I have CKD with a falling EGFR, high potassium and low sodium. There have been issues in the past with my kidneys, but I thought that was all sorted out a while ago. Apparently not. No advice on that but I guess I will have to reduce foods high in potassium; things like spinach, avocado, nuts, salmon, beans, tomatoes, which are pretty well staples for me and replace them with things like broccoli, carrots, kale, cabbage, cucumber, courgettes. Most of them far from my favourites. Asparagus, of course, which I wouldn't touch with a barge-pole. Have to start working out exactly which are the best foods for me again now. My new favourite - chickpea "rice" seems suspect as well and I just received 5 packets of it from Amazon. Same with the lc crackers I have started using - they are made from split peas.

Oh woe is me!

More woe - the supermarket refrigerators were out of action today and Neil couldn't get any meat for me - or fish. What to do about the Mediterranean vegetables I was going to cook under this new regime - no tomatoes is a problem with that. Where's my thinking cap?

A dull and dreary start to the Tuesday here in the peninsula.
Hasn't brightened up at all, a couple of showers and a quiet day.
Footie tonight, cricket this morning and it is a slow burner, plenty of runs and able to do most chores listening.
If Engerland can build , it will be a draw.
No rain there.
Darts were very good watch last night, as Mrs L insisted on putting her chrimbo pjs on.
Mrs L was proposing that because it is not Christmas for a while, we should have a Sunday dinner.
When I pointed it out that it's not Sunday, and I've never cooked one. How or who was this gonna happen?
I said I would put some meat on if Mrs L wanted to.
No thanks, we will have something else.
What else is I have no idea of want to know.

Kitchen duties are calling, maybe fish maybe not!
