Thank you @ianpspurs and pleased that they are distracting from the growth of seasonal omnipoohifications but where will we get our Tibetan prayer bowls from if not from a traditional Christmas Market.@dunelm thank you for sharing the latest wonderful red roof special. These are very much part of the push back against the omnipoohification of which Christmas Markets, Black Fraud Day and Winter Wonderlands are now members.
Get used to even more Americanisation as a) we are Global Britain (didn't you get the memo?) and they are still top dog and b) since Nov 5 our postal address must be care of Donald Trump's back passage because the unmentionable B word leaves no option except that and a begging bowl to Xi (CamOz were absolutely craven) - see attached. We're broke and vulnerable - as a country not us here. Anyhow, isn't Boxing day all about the footy in the flesh or the Amazon Prime version, with beverage of choice and warmth, in the manosphere - not the sales which start at least Christmas Eve online with some guaranteeing same day collection up to possibly 4 pm, possibly later now - a friend uses it for late presents and cheap 2nd turkeys/geese while there - no need to go to the sales. All this americanisation of clearing the shelves, of last year's fails.
What is wrong with a good old British MFI, sales pitch?
With John Lewis and other stores closing for Boxing day, how are you supposed to get some rubbish to collect and get dusty?
The world has gone mad.....
You are quite correct sir.Get used to even more Americanisation as a) we are Global Britain (didn't you get the memo?) and they are still top dog and b) since Nov 5 our postal address must be care of Donald Trump's back passage because the unmentionable B word leaves no option except that and a begging bowl to Xi (CamOz were absolutely craven) - see attached. I gave you a winI sincerely hope you find the way to alter the algorithms and share the feeling of wondering how much more time, in my worldview, God will grant: Psalm 39 v 4 Thank you and @alf_Josiah for the hug BUT, churlish as it may seem, I would far rather an I than a hug. I am fine with giving hugs but very uncomfortable receiving them. What I am comfortable with are the prayers of those who are openly Christian. Best wishes from non believers or those of other faiths are also gratefully received. I know I'm odd but my list of huggers doesn't extend beyond God and my family, may God forgive me.
Edit: @Annb now you've given me a problem with that hug
Winter wonderland outside my bedroom window. No foxes or badgers out so far tonight...It is really cold and started raining mid afternoon. Feels and looks like snow clouds over to the west. Hasn't got above 5 degrees today. Snow due for over the next 24hours.
Stay safe and warm you lot.
Best wishes.
That's not unexpected @gennepher. While neither animal hibernates as such, they both wind down their activities during periods of cold weather.Winter wonderland outside my bedroom window. No foxes or badgers out so far tonight...

Loads of gentle hugs @JohnEGreen for having to get out of your bed.to replace your batteries....Fbg finger pricking good 5.2 at 04.30 batteries on vac pump had given up the ghost so had to get fresh set from down stairs and replace them annoying to say the least still snowing here still 0 degrees now got green light on pump but unable to get back to sleep but a bit early for coffee yet so may get Alexa to play some King Krimson don’t think it will disturb anyone.
The red roofs were escaping off the painting @dunelm ...Good morning everyone from a no show on the snow front here in the frosty north. Elsewhere in the country - oh no! Snow, how unexpected. Stop everything, close the schools and hide under your bargain electric blanket throw that will save putting the heating on, save you a fortune but don’t mention the frozen pipes. Today I must dig out some thicker gloves and something to cover my thinning bonce. Don’t think that I need the crampons yet but better wear more sensible shoes that the ballet pumps. Clean pants and handkerchief in case I fall over and end up in an ambulamence. Art bit - red roofs and some boats. Take care under foot - and even over foot. I shall make koffee and get ready for a late morning promener down for some more free at the point of delivery medical prodding.
So glad to hear that your vision has been helped by the laser treatment.Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen. Yes it is cold and for some snowy, but it is another day on our journey through the universe.
Blood sugars this morning were 7.4 and I know why.
Yesterday’s blood test went well all I have to do is await the result. Also yesterday’s lasering of my eye has restored my vision in that eye, such luxury to have clear vision again, I’m almost tempted to go for a ride on my motorcycle just to celebrate.
The words slightly corrupted of a song “ Slipping down slowly, slipping down slightly, think I’ll fall off again “ spring to mind.
Stay safe, stay warm all.
Thank you so much for the kind words @jjraak and sorry that parts of that will have brought back memories which will have left a scar, however faded. I guess the perfectionist in me wants to "do this right" and every time I'm unable to simply smile and wave the guilt - sin - isn't pleasant. There is also a strange mixture of being raised in what would now be called the "manosphere." Granddad and Dad very much men's men and proud of their physical prowess both literally up to their dying day. In Granddad's case hoeing sugar beet just half an hour lunch break before he died. Finished lunch, stood up and literally dropped dead on the spot. Didn't need the money just needed/relished the challenge I guess. He and I were very close, much like me and The Little Guy ©. My spinal stenosis stops me handling things in that way. How I ideally wanted to handle this is be a gym bunny, split logs etc and do 20k steps daily, which really makes this an absolute pooiffication. Feels far too much like letting the family name down since I already did a "girly" job. The useful rating is because much as I regularly read how I am made from clay by the Great Potter, with all that means, it takes posts such as yours to internalise/take ownership: my goodness I swallowed the education blob's newspeak/koolaid more than I thought. Thank you so, so much. Anyhow, no fbg, no snow or ice here. I have some other thank you's to give but enough already from me. Oh, and Elsie Keto is absolutely no help whatsoever for comfort, especially in winter. Not a totally joyless pursuit but close and that's without the inevitable flaws - it is "man made" and there's a crack in everything thus created.I gave you a win
A great big WIN.
For the great attitude.
No, for a ******* attitude
Trumpian even.
Doubt the Donald could ever say he had a better attitude.
Respect .
I get the distain.
I saw with my dad, going from the provider of so much to needing the help of others.
From spreading a net wide over the family, to then find the net only goes so far, hurt him
A wounded animal, recoiling as others rushed in to help, until he settled down to the new status quo.
An unwilling patient indeed, but aren't we all .
We go from doing it all, independent, unaided .
To the bitter realisation, we are after all, human & thus susceptible to a humans frailties, much as we dislike the idea.
Sadly proclamations that go against us do give a moment to clear the decks & help us find out what IS really important in our lives.
Of course we fight & sometimes we hurt & we bleed but we still get up again & again ..until we can't .
Whilst we all know the clock is ticking, few of us know when that countdown ends.
So second by second, week by week, year by year, we steal the glorious moments we have, clearly not in every second but we keep a close watch, because moments happen in seconds, right ?
For us and those nearest & dearest, this IS personal.
But for others in our groups or associates,
It's akin to players on a team.
All different personalities, with the odd squabble I'm sure.
But while initially everyone plays on when a player down,
However once it becomes clear it's more serious than at first thought.
Everyone gathers round in a show of support.
Doing what they can, even when words can seem insufficient , they still try .
And when a players stretchered off, a season ended & sometimes careers ending
The team of course still plays on.
But moments are still spent encouraging healing, platitudes that things will get better, etc etc.
it's the humanness of wanting to offer hope they'll be back playing soon and when we can't, we offer what we can.
A kind word, a prayer or a simple hug.just to let them know......we're here.
Unneeded ? Maybe.
Family & close friends fill that role nicely.
But still offered none the less.
Cos it's how we roll.
Long may it continue.
Beautiful.I gave you a win
