Happy Birthday - sounds like a very pleasing day.Good evening. Just to share that I had a better than expected Epiphany birthday today. I wasn't expecting to see anyone or to go anywhere due to the weather conditions. Then we decided to risk an impromptu trip to a local eatery for lunch which was very good and whilst there had a message from one of our walking group asking if she could visit us at home. It was her husband's birthday yesterday but walks were cancelled due to snow so we were unable to exchange cards. They both arrived and spent a few hours chatting and sharing the small cake she had brought along! It was our first get together away from the walking meetings and we got on really well. I also received some lovely cards and kind messages. So I am feeling blessed to have had such an unexpectedly pleasant day. No fbs today but just wanted to share my day with you all. Best wishes. Stay warm and safe.
It is so interesting that 'one size doesn't fit all's when it comes to carbs.Sorry to hear your metrics haven't improved and that the journey into Norwich was awful. I have known from very early on with Elsie that more carbs equals better sleep be that length or quality. I also remember reading that keto level carbs can increase the frequency of urination. I don't usually need any visits to the night garden and slightly more carbs also has that bonus. Of course correlation doesn't mean causation and I don't need an excuse to blame Elsie Keto for anything - pretty sure she actually fired that gun and planted it in poor old Gavrilo's hand.
Thanks Ian...Morning all from Breckland. on a bitterly cold outside start to Tuesday. Happy birthday for yesterday @dogslife. The meal and visitors sound as though the day was a joyful celebration. @gennepher thank you for sharing the video and creative. I looked up the benefits badgers bring to the environment seeing as they have such a bad press - yin and yang I suppose. @dunelm thank you for sharing another splendid example of your artistic skill. Enjoy the koffy at home and if you amble? into town at the aspirational koffy bar. Talking of yin and yang, neither the weather nor hot Elsie Keto "stuff" in winter in any guise I can tolerate (bar home made veg soup - to get the nutes and vits I think I need - with a dash of mild curry paste and acv) bring me much joy. JKP has had both a bad back and severe attack of tummy issues for a week now, which often seem to appear together, so whilst I'm not the man I deeply want to be I am at least useful - if liberally interpreted. The which makes me feel God has a plan I can genuinely understand and be thankful for, not just pay lip service out of duty/habit. Meanwhile. I will have peanut butter then a steroid (with tea) then some jarlsberg (they taste singularly unpleasant) is next up on IanP1. If you can genuinely enjoy your day good for you, if not getting through to stumps and starting again tomorrow is always an excellent plan.
Belated Happy Birthday. Sounds like a very good day was had by all.Good evening. Just to share that I had a better than expected Epiphany birthday today. Is that a pub sport? But I have an old photo of you doing just that!
Congrats to MiL.Morning all from a wet, windy, dark and dreary start to Monday in Breckland. Too early for this? @gennepher and anyone affected by adverse weather hug for the snow or floods. All digs at the nanny state aside people do and will continue to die, often as @jjraak says in another context, since people just ignore homo nosce te ipsum. Overdose of manifestation? - there's a limit to the power of optimism/positive thinking and blithely ignoring weather forecasts and the meedja. @dunelm thank you for sharing your art which matches the outside conditions here and many other areas I suspect. @Krystyna23040 this is for you and all those who travel today. @SlimLizzy I hope Mr Slim hasn't overdone things, continues to recover and all goes as well as can be in the circumstances. The January transfer window is open, I wonder what spare parts I can acquire: an Eastern European kidney, Spanish spine, home grown pancreas? Sell before I buy: like Spurs, who wants these rejects? Best of luck Ange, I think we'll both still be saddled with a sub-optimal squad come Feb 1st. Interestingly, since December 22nd when the celebrations started my sleep time, sleep score, resting heart rate and readiness (interesting new Fitbit metric) have all improved noticeably. Over that time my carb intake has averaged under 30 gms per day but with some 60 gms days. French bread with butter, turkey, ham and pork pie yesterday tasted so good, so good. I didn’t go for the pickle and had some red wine as a precaution. Just as oranges aren't the only fruit, bg isn't the only metric. I found this interesting. Now my gibberish is over, y'all can relax and enjoy Monday as much as possible. Who knows, you may have your own little Epiphany.
Edited to add: 95th celebrations went well and thanks to all for the congratulations to MIL.
I very much like the delicate treatment of these trees. Beautiful @dunelmGood morning everyone on another brilliantly quiet start to my day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.2 this a.m. Nothing in the calendar so a day open to near infinite possibilities. One may or may not involve a pleasant walk into town and back - just to ensure that the facilities are getting some use you see. Maybe a koffy in the little Italian koffy bar. There may be a Casse-croûte but since Mrs Miggins started on her morning porridge routine we have been giving that a miss - which is good for the pocket at least. Can social fiddling about with a Rubik cube make you happy or just another pursuit for happiness? Looking in the wrong direction I feel but whatever floats your boat. It’s not my task, I am just so pleased to wake up every morning (so far, so good). The greatest present is a future. Art bit - trees. What will you decide for today, I have decided that it will be a good one, especially with this mug of koffy to start it off.
I watched the aunty beeb, news for an updated weather report.Had a call from the Health Centre to say I need to have another blood test - tomorrow - my electrolytes aren't right apparently. We'll see how that goes tomorrow.
BG at 05.45 today was 5.3. Been around the 5's all day.
At least our cold and snow isn't as bad as US is getting just now although Alistair had a bad time delivering the mail. He went back to work despite not feeling too great and not having really recovered from whatever the bug was although he shouldn't have done. It was a really heavy load today and it didn't help that his van broke down and he waited an hour for someone from the garage to arrive with a replacement vehicle with which he gave a towing start (starter motor had given up). The garage man took the original van back to Stornoway once it had started and Alistair took the replacement to continue his delivery. He arrived here in a really terrible state and had to take a break while his hands thawed out (after struggling to hook the van to the towing van in a snowstorm). The replacement van had no working heater either. That was excruciating for him, possibly made worse due to Renaud's syndrome. Eventually though, he recovered sufficiently to carry on. Half an hour later he phoned asking Neil to go out to give him a jump start because the battery of the replacement vehicle had given up. One problem is that they aren't allowed to leave the engine running while they take mail in to an address so the starter motors take a hammering. Today he had to break that rule after Neil got him going again.
Officially recommended method from BBC Look EastI watched the aunty beeb, news for an updated weather report.
I'm astounded that the first bit was on the U.S.getting battered from the arctic stream.
Why?
What is the fascination with them?
Why isn't the Canadian weather being shown? They must be getting it worse!!!!!
Finland? Sweden? Greenland? Iceland?
And why is our weather not the headlines, there is big floods in the Manchester area. Snow all over the North, sub zero temperatures torrential weather conditions but for some reason not in the home counties......
Aaagh! I see now!
How are you coping with the weather?
Hug for the snowy journey in search of veggies. Thank you for the wonderful kaleidoscope and video. I liked the bird and snow on a tiktoc in a place far away is just how I like it. The idea is lovely but cold (sub 22 °C) or wet are not for me thanks. Stay warm.Tuesday

Creative...too tired to work on another painting, so it is a kaleidoscope today. This is of my new Chinese flask. It had a 16 page instruction booklet all in Chinese how to use it. It is different than the usual vacuum flask. It has this complicated system of several metal pieces which are the loose leaf tea stainer. I am just going to use it for herbal teas, and I'm testing it out now. I gave up translating and I thought well just use common sense....
I decided to go out first thing for some fresh vegetables. There is supposed to be more snow on the way. And it wasn't snowing first thing so I took a chance... halfway to the shop I am in a blizzard. I cannot see a thing, the windscreen wipers are working like mad, but I cannot see anything out of any of the other windows so I ended up having to open the driver and passenger side windows and of course within seconds I am a snowman and the inside of my car is covered in snow..... but I got my fresh vegetables. Selection was a bit poor but at least they were there.... hopefully these will see me to the weekend or just beyond...
Take care
Sweet dreams....

I know I'm weird with carbs and such. But that also defies logic.Sorry to hear your metrics haven't improved and that the journey into Norwich was awful.
