What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from a wet, windy, dark and dreary start to Monday in Breckland. Too early for this? @gennepher and anyone affected by adverse weather hug for the snow or floods. All digs at the nanny state aside people do and will continue to die, often as @jjraak says in another context, since people just ignore homo nosce te ipsum. Overdose of manifestation? - there's a limit to the power of optimism/positive thinking and blithely ignoring weather forecasts and the meedja. @dunelm thank you for sharing your art which matches the outside conditions here and many other areas I suspect. @Krystyna23040 this is for you and all those who travel today. @SlimLizzy I hope Mr Slim hasn't overdone things, continues to recover and all goes as well as can be in the circumstances. The January transfer window is open, I wonder what spare parts I can acquire: an Eastern European kidney, Spanish spine, home grown pancreas? Sell before I buy: like Spurs, who wants these rejects? Best of luck Ange, I think we'll both still be saddled with a sub-optimal squad come Feb 1st. Interestingly, since December 22nd when the celebrations started my sleep time, sleep score, resting heart rate and readiness (interesting new Fitbit metric) have all improved noticeably. Over that time my carb intake has averaged under 30 gms per day but with some 60 gms days. French bread with butter, turkey, ham and pork pie yesterday tasted so good, so good. I didn’t go for the pickle and had some red wine as a precaution. Just as oranges aren't the only fruit, bg isn't the only metric. I found this interesting. Now my gibberish is over, y'all can relax and enjoy Monday as much as possible. Who knows, you may have your own little Epiphany.
Edited to add: 95th celebrations went well and thanks to all for the congratulations to MIL.

Good morning everyone on a wet and windy start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. A walk into town and back yesterday lunchtime with slushy snow underfoot and intermittent rain. All dry thanks to Rohan and Muck. The deeply dangerous snow perpetuated by candle and matches manufactures has now gone. I will be digging out one of our exercise machines this morning. It’s rarely used, just when Mrs Miggins declares that the carpets need cleaning! Luckily we bought all the optional extras so I can do the ‘clean the stair carpet’ exercise - good for making your knees click. In truth, I did Alfred Adler’s separation of tasks when the machine was first purchased and decided that carpet cleaning was my task, so no big deal. Art bit, it snowed in places. May your day be not impinged by other’s priorities. Making my koffy certainly is not.
Definitely snowy....great art bit...
Rug cleaning? Rather you than me @dunelm ....

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

@gennepher
Brilliant lanyard.

One of the good things about visiting supermarkets is the display of newspaper headlines and the very heavily edited radio station news, broadcast at regular time intervals. It is possible to read, listen and formulate an opinion on the type of information presented.

Blood sugars this morning were 6.5, a good thing, more of which later.
Yesterday 4.7 and the day before 4.5.

Earlier this morning I had to drive to Windsor and back, a journey heading east in the direction of Mordor from my humble abode known as Tilehurst Towers. Luckily the deities of traffic hold ups were feeling kind and looked in another direction.
It was possible to see the huge home of the absent King, from the motorway and local dual carriageway leading into Windsor. Spare a thought for him and all the diy tasks he must have to complete, also resetting the clocks twice a year.

Now it is time for me to complete my afternoon nap, perhaps I might dream of mowing all those castle lawns, I do hope not.

Remember to sing happy birthday when appropriate and smile, the smile can always be blamed on wind.

A flying visit again.
7 again.
The weather is really awful. Snow, rain and everything in between.
Getting windier and not going above freezing since Friday.
Trying to protect Mrs L by wearing a mask. When I go to the shop. Hospitals are full of flu and patients are piled up in the corridors. There should be some easing as the private hospitals reopen and beds are freed.
#7 & #8 were sat on yesterday.
DiLs birthday today.
Best wishes.
Keep warm.
Keep safe.

Good to see you @Lamont D . Take care out there because those with the memory of a goldfish, Jaws mode w**k and I'm immortal complexes are having a field day. Seems as though common sense isn't common after all but as a wise man from far flung parts says, they live amongst us.

Happy birthday to DIL.

Take good care of yourself and Mrs L in this awful spell of weather. Indoors is best just now - where it's warm and dry.

Thank you @ianpspurs. Interesting article in the Gruniad.

Thank you @ianpspurs- the drive into Norwich was awful, with torrential rain and very poor visibility. I was so pleased that Mr K drove me in.

The article on Zoe was very interesting.

Also interesting was that your Fitbit metrics have improved with an increase in carbs. It looks like increasing carbs is better for your body.

I have also increased carbs but sadly my Fitbit metrics have gone the wrong way.

Good that MILs 95th celebrations went well

Sorry to hear your metrics haven't improved and that the journey into Norwich was awful. I have known from very early on with Elsie that more carbs equals better sleep be that length or quality. I also remember reading that keto level carbs can increase the frequency of urination. I don't usually need any visits to the night garden and slightly more carbs also has that bonus. Of course correlation doesn't mean causation and I don't need an excuse to blame Elsie Keto for anything - pretty sure she actually fired that gun and planted it in poor old Gavrilo's hand.

Had a call from the Health Centre to say I need to have another blood test - tomorrow - my electrolytes aren't right apparently. We'll see how that goes tomorrow.

BG at 05.45 today was 5.3. Been around the 5's all day.

At least our cold and snow isn't as bad as US is getting just now although Alistair had a bad time delivering the mail. He went back to work despite not feeling too great and not having really recovered from whatever the bug was although he shouldn't have done. It was a really heavy load today and it didn't help that his van broke down and he waited an hour for someone from the garage to arrive with a replacement vehicle with which he gave a towing start (starter motor had given up). The garage man took the original van back to Stornoway once it had started and Alistair took the replacement to continue his delivery. He arrived here in a really terrible state and had to take a break while his hands thawed out (after struggling to hook the van to the towing van in a snowstorm). The replacement van had no working heater either. That was excruciating for him, possibly made worse due to Renaud's syndrome. Eventually though, he recovered sufficiently to carry on. Half an hour later he phoned asking Neil to go out to give him a jump start because the battery of the replacement vehicle had given up. One problem is that they aren't allowed to leave the engine running while they take mail in to an address so the starter motors take a hammering. Today he had to break that rule after Neil got him going again.

Good evening. Just to share that I had a better than expected Epiphany birthday today. I wasn't expecting to see anyone or to go anywhere due to the weather conditions. Then we decided to risk an impromptu trip to a local eatery for lunch which was very good and whilst there had a message from one of our walking group asking if she could visit us at home. It was her husband's birthday yesterday but walks were cancelled due to snow so we were unable to exchange cards. They both arrived and spent a few hours chatting and sharing the small cake she had brought along! It was our first get together away from the walking meetings and we got on really well. I also received some lovely cards and kind messages. So I am feeling blessed to have had such an unexpectedly pleasant day. No fbs today but just wanted to share my day with you all. Best wishes. Stay warm and safe. :joyful:

An Intersting abstract and the white fence gives me the idea of a path towards water falling down a cliff face.
