What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Back from the doc's. Apparently I don't have a UTI. So, in case it was the Prozac that was causing the irritation, I've been switched to Buspar/Buspirone, which unlike Prozac is not an SSRI anti-anxiety med.

Thank you all who posted good wishes. Whatever was causing the pain seems to have quit.

are you happy with the new meds and the Non anti anxiety aspect..can you manage in other ways ?

Hope you had a lovely evening @DJC3 , my wife often forgets our anniversary, she uses the excuse that I should have made it more memorable.
I heard on the radio the other morning that there had been a study that proved the futility of arguing with your wife, something about them having a better episodic memory than men, and have a better recall of facts and figures thus being able to argue better. I don’t know why they needed a study to prove that.

IF I was speaking to my younger self.
I would urge him to make note...copious amounts of notes about everything and anything I did regarding my missus.

BECAUSE.

Far too many times a conversation starts like this..
" Oh, do you remember xyz ? "

And I niavely thought that was just a random question.....

Umm AHH.. No siree... That is the beginning of an interrogation, that makes the Gestapo look like rank amateurs.

So.."Can't name the song that was playing second date in the bar ummm, ok". so..."what colour was the dress I wore.?"......:***:.

Can only brush it off so many times before you start believing this was a lesson at school the girls get, NO ONE talks about .

Obv I failed many many of these.
But those chaps younger.. The advice is still valid.
Make notes... Lots and lots of notes.

Oops, I didn't post that clearly. Buspar is an anti-anxiety med, it's just not an SSRI one. Sorry! The pharmacy was almost out of it today; they expect more in by Friday and will text me when it arrives so I can get a full prescription. Meanwhile I'll stay on the Prozac. And I've also been doing "Buspar vs Prozac" Google searches. Sometimes I just can't turn off my inner librarian.
 

Evidently there really are some differences between Englishmen and American men! That's two examples I've read today of the husband being the one to remember the anniversary -- something you just never hear of here!
 

ETA to clarify, Buspar is an anti-anxiety med; it is not an SSRI (which Prozac is).

I don’t have a telly.
But I am profoundly deaf and I need subtitles and there were none. So I have no idea of the words spoken in the interview.
However I could see how @Debandez carried herself positively and assuredly and composed. It was lovely to see Debs. So thanks to both Debs and Fndwheelie.
 
Fbg 7.1 this morning

Surprised as poor night’s sleep due to neighbour’s ridge/coping tiles blowing off his property in the high wind gusts. They were left just sitting on the ridge and not fixed by dodgy workmen he employs. Fortunately away from me and my property and car. He upped sticks and left with his family and cars yesterday evening.

I have been checking wind gusts and wind direction all night.

If he returns I have plenty to say (he’s been a very rude neighbour to me in the past, verbally abusive), if he doesn’t return, then I have to send an email to the council, because it is right next to a bus stop...

Dr zoe firstly clarified differences between type 1 and 2. And went on to say remission possible when they introduced me as an example. I spoke about my diagnosis and my mums struggles with her T2. I then went on to say how I had done it. Googled reversing diabetes, found low carb program and success stories bringing down BS weight cholesterol BP. Wondered what a carb was. 'Should have listened at school (laughs) realised carbs turned to sugar. Started low carb. Weight melted away losing stone first month stone second and further 2 in 4 months. Bs levels too. Along those lines ;-)
 
Morning all - far too early for a retired gent convalescing and far too definitely not summer for me. @trick60 that holiday was some elixir great fbg - double cheese on toast for you young sir. @SaskiaKC glad it wasn't a UTI and symptoms seem to have subsided. @gennepher hug for poor night's sleep. Everyone else, as young Mr Grace said - you've all done very well. My fbg was 5.6. - could have been worse and the far more clear and present danger is being dealt with. Current lifestyle basically has one job and that level of performance feels like a failure. Seeing other people have success can be a two (three?) edged sword. Happiness for them, hope it could work for me and feeling of failure when the meter/A1c makes it clear I've failed. Weight seems to be coming back to trend so something is working - I need wins. Time to deal with bg after the more urgent issue is settled and I'll never know how good or bad this level of performance is. It's being so cheerful that keeps me going.

Woke to a 5.8 this morning. My back is hurting this morning and I’ve not even got out of bed yet. Once I sit at my beading desk the screams of protest from my back will be heard the world over. Yesterday was a good day finished the second number cube, I can’t start the next bit of the train as I’m waiting on some missing beads. But I started a bracelet which should finish this morning.


Edit: Forgot to say I had a HAb1C done a couple of days ago. My previous one was 17th July at 85, so I know that it’s not the full 12 weeks between but yesterday it was 58 I’m really happy with that decrease. And hopefully given another few weeks I will be out of the 50s.

Well I have managed to watch the piece staring @Debandez - my own thoughts - a very good piece by Debs but again, watered down by some NHS GP waffling on about reduced calories (Newcastle diet??) and seeing a GP with the faint hope, at present I fear, of being handed over to the control of some so called “dietician” who will talk about plate size, showing pie charts and just how many potatoes are fine.

Anyhow, the wheel of wonderment and fascination danced about all night and then shuffled out a begrudging 5.6

Out over the moors yesterday evening to our little house on the prairie. Nice to see that Mr Turner had been out a little earlier to tinker with the sky. Couldn’t quite see the Fighting Temeraire, must have been over the hill.

Have a great day if you can, got a new power washer to unpack and play with and a new blade to fit to the hovercraft.
