What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I don't know the one and outs of your diabetes.......... And I might be so wrong........
But logic.... Spock, behave,....... would say little food, little meds.
You know yourself how it fits together for you, small bites small doses.
But do take it easy and keep checking.

Scorchio since early morning, nearly forty degrees on my (in the shade thermometer, actually 38degrees showing... On my phone it is saying 34degrees. Scorchio!

7.4 on the FBG Beaufort scale.

#7 & #8 paid a visit. And it was bedlam. Wanting to play footie, but grandad was a bit of a grump, excuses of another long day and trying to keep cool in case.....!
#7 & #8 like the cakes from the cake house. There were for Nanny but who is more important? And why we're they still in the fridge. Mrs L 's confectionery also took a hit. And youngest son did his best to deprive everyone else of some lunch (dinner). Good thing I was prepared for the horde of locusts!
Trying to watch interesting cricket during this time!
I'm definitely adopting being cool.
You do know how grandkids minds work.

5.8 this morning.
A really busy, but enjoyable, day teaching. Finished at 6pm.​
There was such a lovely cool breeze coming through the open windows and fire door in my venue.

I really need to relax and recharge now.

Mr K is watering the garden. It is actually warmer now than earlier in the day.
 
It has reached 99degrees Fahrenheit in my back garden it is a sun trap.
all doors and windows open.
I pity those that have to work in this weather.
Gonna wait till later to water my gardens.
Hosepipe ban incoming.

Unbelievable temps
34C in back garden
40C in the front garden
Midnight and I sat underneath my canopy of trees in the back garden.
I am grateful for my canopy of trees and leaves...
But the only snag was a few hundred wasps in my back garden...it is that time of year when those black aphids start covering the willow trees, and the wasps come to drink the honeydew from them...just don't sit under a willow branch where the honeydew is dripping...so this is the wasp's drunk fest for another 4 weeks now...at the height of the wasp's drunken fest, I have to walk through thousands of wasps to get to the potting shed and garage...never been stung yet...I show no fear... and they are not interested in me anyway...
Bungalow was intolerable. Still is...27C in this room...35C in the kitchen... I have my head out of the window... and I am watching what looks like pretty much full moon... I am just hoping a badger does not stick his head up.... I have a small refrigerator in my room and I have three bottles of water in it and I keep swapping them....bliss...

Good morning everyone on a much cooler start today here in the dark and dangerous north, thanks mainly to the arrival of clouds.
5.4 this a.m.
A large sausage roll was purchased at the farmers market yesterday - enough for two with a salad for dinner. Gluten free stall - oh well. Just a taste of the pastry - no thanks - too short, like a forgotten sheet of dirty fingers dough from a primary school cooking lesson left out in the sun over the summer holidays. Filling was OK even if I do wonder about these products sold on outdoor stalls:
“Food beyond compare
Food beyond belief
Mix it in a mincer and pretend it's beef
Kidney of a horse, liver of a cat
Filling up the sausages with this and that”

Film last night - Otto, Tom Hanks - rather good.
Hope your day gives you comfort. I shall make koffy and dream about bacon.
 
Small bites and small doses is what I have been aiming at for all these years, since diagnosis. It would be the best I could hope for. Sadly, it doesn't always work that way. Fasting often leads to an increased BG so at least the full basal dose is usually required. Not this time. Recently, small bites have required increasingly large doses, which I was unhappy with.

Then this recent illness has thrown it all up in the air. No food has led to very low BG - fine by me but I don't know why illness has caused a fall in BG rather than a rise. I wish I understood diabetes. Or even my own body. Maybe even my liver isn't feeling helpful at the moment.

Anyhow - took a reduced dose of basal dose today and have had 2 cups of chicken broth so far. BG stands at 6.0. A little higher than the last few days so am about to try a late breakfast of eggs in some form.
 
Hello all. I didn't sleep at all last night. Nothing specifically wrong just no sleep in my head. Got up at around 4am. Fbs was 12.4! Hadn't eaten anything after a salmon salad at 6pm but did have a cheese and tuna sandwich and a coffee at lunch time in a cafe near to my hearing appointment. I now have 2 hearing aids and the de-waxing went well except she found a mysterious swelling in my left ear. She didn't know what it was so is sending a photo to my GP. Will this lead to yet another "ology" at the hospital I wonder? LOL Late morning I fell fast asleep and didn't wake up until 1.10pm. Boiled some large farm eggs for a late lunch. For our evening meal we will have fresh salmon and vegetables in an effort to get back to a normal diet. The sun is still shining but it seems a little cooler today thank goodness. It was whilst browsing on the forum in the early hours that I read the message from John's daughter. Very sad news indeed. Most of us on here have experienced such losses and so can truly empathise with his family. May they receive the support and comfort they need. Best wishes to you all.
 
6.1 this morning.
We had a lovely gentle amble around Gooderstone Water Gardens. Thank goodness that it was not to hot to take Bonnie there.
Have spent the afternoon doing some admin and lesson planning and now am relaxing and reading.

I have known John for quite a while as a forum-ite. He would often post on the footie thread and his time in my home town and other threads, then particularly this thread. I am as they say around here .....gobsmacked. A true friend and advisor. Good night mate. R.I.P.
 
7.6 during preparations for Mrs L 's birthday.
All.......The family arrived and now we can't move in the front room (lounge) for flowers, came and an assortment of other pressies which of course means pyjamas.
Family discussion was around if we do get the chance of moving to appropriate accommodation for Mrs L, was what are we going to do with the amount of stuff we have collected over our three and a half decades here.
I think the best was hire a skip and dump the lot.
Gotta consider it.
Mrs L is now knackered.
So am I.
I'm trying to be happy but the sad news has put a damper on it all.
