Our library isn't part of that scheme Ian. I'm not sure the local Health Board even recognises the SAD phenomenon. Certainly there's nothing in their winter advice that mentions it. I know that quite a few people here do suffer from it and some who have bought their own light boxes to cope with it.Morning all from a bright start to the dark, cold seasons. Apparently both the BBC and Guardian feel it is important to give us all advice on how to cope with/survive/almost thrive the impending horror. I am very definitely having nothing to do with candles. @Annb does your local library offer those boxes to help with SAD? I read a Hygge book once and we bought a hot chocolate maker as a joint wedding anniversary present for tomorrow so I'm sorted. I even found a cashmere jumper I forgot/never knew I had. My fbg was 4.9 at 8.00 and at 10.50 it is the same. Let's hope Thomas the Frank Engine's misfiring charges have as good a result later. Family lunch here today with #3 son, partner and 2 children. My big beautiful piece of pork - one misguided commentator erroneously opined that I was over exuberant at the butchers - is roasting as the children like crackling and JKP spoils the childrenThe children will sleep over tonight and tomorrow and 2 of their cousins will also be here tomorrow. That is Hygge enough for me. Make the most of the hand you are dealt today and peace be with you all.
Shame about the library not taking part in the scheme when there appears to be a real demand. Also a shame about that brand of Presbyterianism - three angry words on a page? I'm sure your inner beauty and delicious food will be warmly welcomed but you could always just keep calm and drink tea.Our library isn't part of that scheme Ian. People here are pretty gloomy anyway, so SAD is possibly a year round phenomenon here. Or maybe it's the particular brand of Presbyterianism that does it. Other gaelic places are not so grim, so it's a local culture rather than a genetic factor. My husband's grandparents were similar, but they came from the west of Scotland and there was not much gaelic blood in their veins. They were much closer to their Free church ancestors than later generations.
BG at 03.15 today was 8.4. Then I realised it was 02.15. Still round about that figure despite basal and bolus doses and breakfast of just eggs.
I'm supposed to be going out this afternoon for another of those pot-luck occasions. Made chicken biryani to take with me. But I'm thinking of calling off - my recently repaired dental plate has broken again. I've glued it together with superglue, but I don't trust it to hold up. I'm not much to gladden the eye these days, at my best. Without teeth I would scare the children.
Thank you very much @ianpspursMorning all from L.A. on a day which started earlier than we wanted. Funny how one forgets how young children jump out of bed full of energy far too close to dark hours Zero 30. My fbg was 4.7 by 7.32 after we had watched BooSnoo. The pork and crackling was a triumph yesterday and Spurs somehow won. JKP is in pain from her hip and moving very gingerly with the aid of a walking stick. She was told she may have a had compression fracture of the spine but x-rays revealed that was not the case. Due to the advice given her shemay havealtered her movements and this may be the result. @Lamont D hug for the tiredness and stress. @gennepher thank you for sharing the art which reminds me of a Christmas card. Have the best day you can.
Poor you...Good afternoon Ladies and Gentleman.
Unfortunately one of the painkillers I am taking has started to play havoc with what ever cognitive function I had left.
I was going out and went to set the burglar alarm, instead I set the alarm off!!! It’s loud. 3 neighbours came round to check on things and me, unfortunately I don’t know how cancel the alarm and had to phone Mrs J. Again things went screw wiff! So one of the neighbours called Mrs J for advice and a few minutes later things went silent.
Mrs J then told the neighbours what she thought of me. It was not nice.
I know I am very lucky with having such nice neighbours, and they now have better understanding of how I am, thanks to Mrs J.
I am now going to sign out and cry into my koffy.
I do hope JPKs hip is a lot less painful very soon. You are highly likely to be right that the pain was caused by her altering her movement patterns.Morning all from L.A. on a day which started earlier than we wanted.
