What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Kaleidoscope

I was outside the health center today which is not open, but waiting for the pharmacy next door to open...

I had another text saying that my prescription was ready... And pigs might fly. I thought this time. Yet I still have to wait 20 minutes for them to sort a prescription which was supposedly ready. There are no seats to sit on, I was sitting on the seat of my Walker getting a sore bottom...
A shop I was trying to use this morning had more leaks on its premises than a seive... It was an obstacle course.
I was very tired when I got back...

I am going to sleep now so good night...

Now here's an odd thing. More family history mysteries. My maternal grandfather was married twice. His first wife had TB and died. His second wife was my grandmother. His first wife, I discovered died in a village in Kent. The same village that my father's grandparents came from and I wondered if the two families knew each other. Today I found that grandpa's first wife and my father's grandmother were from that same village and had the same surname. Not only would they have known each other - they would have been cousins. My parents didn't share ancestors, as far as I can tell, but their ancestors must have been close neighbours. More information needed on the people in that Kentish village.

Good morning all. fbs at 7am (8am equiv.) was 8.8. Suddenly woke at 2.20 and was instantly wide awake/ alert. No idea why but couldn't settle afterwards. Cold symptoms not as severe so far today thank goodness. Zero degrees outside. Brrrr! Stay warm and safe folks and hope your day is as good as it can be.

Frost here this morning on the South Coast. I was very glad for the etra hour of sleep. I'm retired so don't have to get up any particular time, but I have Carers coming in and they tend to arrive early, which I suppose suits more people.

Morning all,
12.0 this morning- yesterday was the first day of 500mg metformin morning and evening and day 8 since I started it,

Still getting a pattern of overnight highs, woke up at 3am to my sensor reading 13.8 having been 9.9 at bedtime around 11pm

Seeing the nurse at the GPs on Thursday for my first appointment since diagnosis so let’s see what that brings,
Any suggestions of questions to ask or what I should expect to happen at the appointment would be greatly appreciated

Morning all from a bright start to the dark, cold seasons. Apparently both the BBC and Guardian feel it is important to give us all advice on how to cope with/survive/almost thrive the impending horror. I am very definitely having nothing to do with candles. @Annb does your local library offer those boxes to help with SAD? I read a Hygge book once and we bought a hot chocolate maker as a joint wedding anniversary present for tomorrow so I'm sorted. I even found a cashmere jumper I forgot/never knew I had. My fbg was 4.9 at 8.00 and at 10.50 it is the same. Let's hope Thomas the Frank Engine's misfiring charges have as good a result later. Family lunch here today with #3 son, partner and 2 children. My big beautiful piece of pork - one misguided commentator erroneously opined that I was over exuberant at the butchers - is roasting as the children like crackling and JKP spoils the children The children will sleep over tonight and tomorrow and 2 of their cousins will also be here tomorrow. That is Hygge enough for me. Make the most of the hand you are dealt today and peace be with you all.

Our library isn't part of that scheme Ian. I'm not sure the local Health Board even recognises the SAD phenomenon. Certainly there's nothing in their winter advice that mentions it. I know that quite a few people here do suffer from it and some who have bought their own light boxes to cope with it.

People here are pretty gloomy anyway, so SAD is possibly a year round phenomenon here. Or maybe it's the particular brand of Presbyterianism that does it. Other gaelic places are not so grim, so it's a local culture rather than a genetic factor. My husband's grandparents were similar, but they came from the west of Scotland and there was not much gaelic blood in their veins. They were much closer to their Free church ancestors than later generations.

BG at 03.15 today was 8.4. Then I realised it was 02.15. Still round about that figure despite basal and bolus doses and breakfast of just eggs.

I'm supposed to be going out this afternoon for another of those pot-luck occasions. Made chicken biryani to take with me. But I'm thinking of calling off - my recently repaired dental plate has broken again. I've glued it together with superglue, but I don't trust it to hold up. I'm not much to gladden the eye these days, at my best. Without teeth I would scare the children.

Shame about the library not taking part in the scheme when there appears to be a real demand. Also a shame about that brand of Presbyterianism - three angry words on a page? I'm sure your inner beauty and delicious food will be warmly welcomed but you could always just keep calm and drink tea.

Never, somehow, came across anything by Muir. Interesting. Excellent description of Calvinism. So true.

Maybe I'm getting vain in my old age. My grandmother never bothered about appearing in public without her false teeth. She only wore those on very special occasions and never to eat with. She was one of those who received a gift of getting all their reasonably sound teeth removed to avoid future pain. My mother was similar, but she did have some bad teeth as a young woman. Not that anyone ever saw her without her false teeth - not even me.

If I do go out, I shall keep my mouth shut!

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
My blood sugars this morning were, let’s say strange, but until I am discharged from hospital control, in my opinion meaningless.

In Tilehurst Towers, some of clocks have been changed and some not. I have brought the ladder in ready change these not changed, but Mrs J has banned me from climbing the ladder. This is a marvellopus opportunity to cause mayhem with visitors and I will take it. It will also drive Mrs J crazy. But after 47 years of marital harmony divorce is not an option, murder is.

I actually remembered to do my FBG this morning. As I didn't get the hour promised by the newscasters. 6.3.
Mrs L is up and down today medically. BG down then up, BG levels up, then down. Coughing a bit this morning but a lot looser this evening. As I say more bloods given and under observation by Mrs L 's nurse.
Good news is Mrs L 's appetite is back and devoured a big portion of everything on her plate. But didn't get the lamb Mrs L mistakenly chose on the wrong list!
However, one of the kids brought a bowl of scouse, which didn't stand a chance. I'm sure there was a pattern on the plate beforehand?

But really sad news.
Mrs L as instructed, would keep active, when not needed, so, Mrs L would go for a hike through the hospital to the front entrance and back. Yesterday, a chap on a scooter was around terrorising the visitors and of course running over toes. And Mrs L escaping the ward this morning, has been well and truly told off, was talking to him. On another of her walks, we encountered her hairdresser and the daughter of said chap. Informing us, that he had died of pneumonia all of a sudden around lunchtime. So sad. Both of us so shocked. So sudden.
Just shows what is going to happen sooner or later.
Another day in paradise folks.
Back again tomorrow.
Best wishes you lot.
Off to bed I'm knackered.

This is in acrylics. I often mix enough paint to do two paintings a similar.colour. That is why this is a similar colouring to yesterday's printing.

Night night. It is approaching the time of midnight here...

Have good dreams...

Morning all from L.A. on a day which started earlier than we wanted. Funny how one forgets how young children jump out of bed full of energy far too close to dark hours Zero 30. My fbg was 4.7 by 7.32 after we had watched BooSnoo. The pork and crackling was a triumph yesterday and Spurs somehow won. JKP is in pain from her hip and moving very gingerly with the aid of a walking stick. She was told she may have had a compression fracture of the spine but x-rays revealed that was not the case. Due to the advice given her she may have altered her movements and this may be the result. @Lamont D hug for the tiredness and stress. @gennepher thank you for sharing the art which reminds me of a Christmas card. Have the best day you can.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentleman.

Unfortunately one of the painkillers I am taking has started to play havoc with what ever cognitive function I had left.
I was going out and went to set the burglar alarm, instead I set the alarm off!!! It’s loud. 3 neighbours came round to check on things and me, unfortunately I don’t know how cancel the alarm and had to phone Mrs J. Again things went screw wiff! So one of the neighbours called Mrs J for advice and a few minutes later things went silent.
Mrs J then told the neighbours what she thought of me. It was not nice.

I know I am very lucky with having such nice neighbours, and they now have better understanding of how I am, thanks to Mrs J.
I am now going to sign out and cry into my koffy.

9.4 at 03.40 today and down to 8.9 now.

Really sore this morning but I made it through to the kitchen without sounding the alarm to wake Neil up. Painkillers, tea, big chair, doze.

Bright sunshine today, but it is cold. Big jumper on today.

No teeth until later today, so breakfast was totally unsuitable (and not very pleasant) can of tomato soup. It didn't warm me up though. The room temperature is round about 18C but it doesn't feel like it.

Children's party coming up next weekend so I'll be making cupcakes and cookies for that (Halloween styly). I have a friend who is totally against the typical Halloween stuff - they open the heart to evil, apparently. I can see her point, but I don't think making cakes with spiders, pumpkins, ghostly white sheets, etc is going to do any harm.

2 pm now - I obviously didn't press the button to post the message earlier. I have my teeth back so I can eat this afternoon/evening. Weather alternating between heavy showers and bright sunshine. Reasonably warm in the sun, but not in the rain.

Thank you very much @ianpspurs

Poor you...
At least you know your burglar alarm works @alf_Josiah

Next page in my sketchbook...
In acrylics...

I was hoping to meet my friend this week, but she can't meet because her husband needs some leg sores dressings every day this week.
..
Anyway, it means I'll get more sorting out and clearing out and throwing out and all that stuff done....

I am just going to have an early evening nap!

Take care.

I do hope JPKs hip is a lot less painful very soon. You are highly likely to be right that the pain was caused by her altering her movement patterns.
