BG was 8.1 at 04.45 today. Been to get my legs bandaged and, this time, the requested blood test. I also stopped off with Neil at a new "Pre-loved" shop - some antiques but lots of mid century stuff as well. Wobbling around that shop was enough exercise to last me a week. Ouch!

In the middle of baking Halloween biscuits and cakes. So far so good, but I'm pretty shattered and I have to get them decorated by tonight so that Neil can deliver them tomorrow morning when he takes the Scenic in for its MOT.

She seemed to know her stuff, not 100% sure is a specialist Diabetic nurse,
She has upped the dose of metformin to 2 tablets twice a day, so for the next week 1 in the morning and 2 in the evening then after a week going up again if tolerated,
Booked in my repeat HBa1C for mid January,
Checked my feet, height and weight,
Checked my blood sugar level, and had a chat about checking them regularly for the next few months, seemed pleased with the fact I’ve brought a monitor and trying out the Dexcom sensor,
Had a chat about food etc and said the appointment for the eye screening should be on its way,
Answered my questions and sent me on my way,

Fbg 7.1 it is high because I am stressed...

A painting I did which was half an actual acrylic painting, and then I put it in my silhouette app for the bird etc, and then I put it in a digital painting app to do a bit more detail.

I have had a terrible couple of days. I said a couple of days ago I was having problems with a lot of spam. Even as I am writing this, I'm getting alerts for email saying I paid for things which I have not, but it is all in dollars and they need this final or whatever it is.... it just never stops.

Couple days ago, spam was saying there were problems with my bank account and I had to tap yes or no. Obviously I did not. So I did all the sensible things like checking with my bank account and everything was fine there..

But the next thing I knew my credit card was blocked. I have just been spending days trying to source something. I found it and I want to pay, but the bank declined to pay. The seller offered to wait 24 hours and he would hold the goods for me. So this was a race against time..

I get hold of my bank and they have a chat app and you get a simple bot as first port of call which was getting nowhere fast.... so I asked the bot to put me onto a real person... this was yesterday afternoon. You were in contact with a person in 30 minutes I was told. That 30 minutes dragged on to a few hours before I got an actual person.... I kept checking I was not forgotten and that I was still in the queue. I'm very tired by now being alert for this. Finally, a few hours later there was a message on my screen, and so I went to the bank app... the next part went on for about 10 hours... and this was overnight so I got no sleep last night. The person asked for details and I had to confirm who I was.. but each message to and fro was about half an hour or an an hour and a half, and so on, before they actually responded back. They asked me about my transactions and I had to say what each one was over a period of a few days. Then there was a pile of different questions. Then I had to prove who I was, I was going through an eternal hoop of questions. It felt impossible...all the while trying to keep awake so I could respond immediately. They asked if I had received texts from them. And I said no, but I had received text from spammers. And so I had to send those texts and details and numbers to the bank. All this took a lot of time.

Then just before dawn this morning (Thursday) I was told I was unblocked and I could use my credit card again. But to leave it a little while for the unblocking to go through the system....

So I got hold of my supplier. I told him I could pay in a couple of hours.... I thought that should be a long enough time for the unblocking to go through the system.

I paid and I am getting the goods in a few days.

What it was were some rubber horse mats. They have holes in them and are very good for my foot grip round the garden. I get no sun on the ground from now for about five months or so and the ground is always a bit slippy... I bought horse mats over five years ago and it stopped me having slipping type falls in my garden. But those Infernal badgers chew them up and I have some missing ones. I had a fall last week in the back garden and I slipped where the mat was missing (the badgers move the mats and shake and play with them) and I fell backwards and it took me ages to get up again. And a few days ago, I had a fall in the kitchen passageway, which is my main doorway out to the front. Again the badgers had torn the edges of the mats and moved them..... and I slipped a few days ago and fell backwards onto the ground and it took me ages to get back up. And so I needed new horse type mats....

00.35 - just iced the last cupcake and am sitting at my desk because the kitchen is a disaster but will wait until tomorrow and I have to sit. My legs and back are screaming at me to stop tormenting them. But at least the job is done. It would have been alright if I'd allowed more time, but I am constrained by the Scenic going in for some work before its MOT tomorrow so Neil (or Alistair) has to deliver them on the way.

Over-tired and not ready to sleep yet. Still, I must try. I'm going to try to persuade my legs to hold me up as I crab my way through to the bedroom. Night night all.

5.8 fbg today. Would prob have been lower but for that croissant, cinnamon swirl, and most of a tiny loaf of grainy bread yesterday!
We have no bathroom right now. My wife decided she wanted the old one renovated. The builder is currently removing all the old tiles. Very noisy!

Straight talking grandson . Like JKP, Mrs Miggins reports no discernible change after six weeks - oh well. No Dubai chocolate. Daughter said that it was available in many outlets but wasn’t tempted.

Morning all on a grey start here in L.A. Fbg was 4.6., no trick but a treat after some higher readings yesterday. Slightly more mobile today but I will have more idea of the state of play by evening. @gennepher hug for the falls and palaver with the bank. @Annb I hope you managed some sleep after all that baking. I hope you can all manage to find some good in the day.

Thanks Ian. I did sleep - oddly enough, in my desk chair. Having said I was too tired to sleep, while I mustered strength and courage to stand up, I fell asleep. Only for about an hour. Then I got up, realised there were things that had to be put away. Did that and eventually got through to my bed. Slept pretty solidly until about 05.40. Still desperately stiff and sore today (it's my own fault so I'm not complaining, just stating the case) so took painkillers and have been struggling to stay awake since. Finally psyched myself up to clear some workspace, load the dishwasher with what could be dishwashed and loaded our big sink with some hot, soapy water and got going with the rest. Mostly done now but time for a short break, so here I am.

Made the cakes and cookies for the kids' Halloween party as disgusting as I could bear, so I hope they enjoy them. Neil delivered them to the house of one of the early organisers this morning on his way to the garage.

Neil's just gone to pick up the Scenic from the garage. It had minor issued fixed and has passed its MOT. Hurrah!

BG when I got up was 8.4 and after a slight detour into the 10's is now back in the 8's.

Not sure if this is because I didn't sleep much, or forgetting to test for over an hour. Either way yoghurt and berries sorted it out to 5.8
still experimenting with the automatic cat feeder. We need to be confident it will work - and that Kiki will be happy with it. Tonight I called her in just before it dispensed. She was startled but not frightened enough to run. However she didn't trust it at first and took her first few mouthfulls to the flour to eat.
Normally I moisten her kibble and I have noticed she is drinking more while having her food dry.
Mini drama over.
Tomorrow the artisan who put in the new skylight is coming to investigate why it has developed a slight leak.
Tuesday the roofer arrives. We have been waiting since May. He has scheduled two days but MrSlim has found extra work (more leaks) that need fixing. I just hope he can do it all in one go. He has got permission from the Mairie to block the pavement for those two days. Am not sure if a new application, with its two month waiting period will be neccessary if more time is needed.

9.2 this morning,
The nurse yesterday up the Metformin to 2 tablets twice a day, so currently on 1 in the morning and 2 in the evening, and then next week it goes up to 2 and 2,
Repeat HBa1c booked for mid January

5.2 this morning.
Sent out timetables to 19 classes today and did other admin, plus played mah jong quite a lot.

My sister came around for a coffee and our dogs had a lovely time playing together. Luckily her dog is a girl dog also as Bonnie is starting her first season.

Morning all from a sunny L.A. on All Saints Day 2025 where my fbg was 5.4. Although higher than usual that is "a result" after last evening's fish and chips. Large piece of cod in batter and a desultory scattering of chips plus some garlic mushrooms in breadcrumbs. The intern seems to have missed the garlic from those. Earlier I read an article linking Tom Parker-Bowles' cordial range, Bazball and Colonialism - genius. Enjoy your Saturday, mine will contain much watching of sport and tea drinking.

What a fun read but we have been making a not for diluting cordial out of elderflowers since before Stonehenge began following the hairstyle of President Pumpkin Mr P-B. You need to get out more from under all that tweed.

Good aftenoon everyone of a wonderfully sunny and blustery get yer washing out Mrs Worthington sort of day here in the dark and dangerous north.

No idea of readings today after a jack-in-the-bed night of increased pace count to the detriment of any decent REM sleep. Everybody hurts but it’s not the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine!).

Out this afternoon with the poppy making gang - making some sort of display for next weekend. Mrs Miggins received a fancy poppy shirt in the post today enclosed in this months letter from America. We do still have some unbrainwashed friends there who have not been ICE’d - Alistair Cooke’s broadcasts would be interesting in these strange days.

Our today is turning out to be a lazy one so a blustery walk into town will hopefully gee us up. Another kofee might be in order.
